I have a few 2010 ish era cameras now. I think after using my phone for so long, the biggest thing for me to appreciate is the optical zoom. Optical zoom is just so much better then the digital hop and skip prime zoom nonsense that all phones do. And I have a Canon R6 and use a BMPCC 4K at church so my mindset for real optical zoom glass was that everything had to be big and expensive. But some of these point shoots have such fantastic optical zoom range in such a small package and at a great price.
I skipped effect packs and went straight to buying a VCR, some tapes and using my retrotink 5X and a camlink 4k to run my stuff through a VHS tape. Way more effort to make it all look worse lol
At 09:15 Dude, thank you! I always say this. I play a lot of indie horror games, and this analog horror thing is such a fad, but it's obvious a bunch of 20 something or younger devs are doing what they think analog media/32bit consoles looked like, but they clearly don't. They think videotapes always looked like crap and PS1 games had a filter over the games that added excessive nauseating pixelation. And nobody considers how a lot of older video looked before it was converted to digital, and most importantly, what it looked like on CRT TVs. But man, I said, "era correct" when referring to the 90's the other day, and was like, "damn, I think I can actually say I'm getting old now."
This got me wondering about old cameras from my life, but I think the only one I really had before a smartphone was the 2008 Fisher-Price Kid-Tough blue one. Sooo much nostalgia in that design for me! Kinda reminds me of the one your son uses at 18:37; but way chunkier. And his probably does video...
I upgraded my daughter’s VTech camera with an old 2007 Pentax digicam. She’s loving it and the quality is so much better and it was only $20. I lucked out too bc it also has the option for cute frame overlays that she loves to use.
I'm trying to figure out a new battery pack for my GE VHS camera. It takes a 12V 2200mA lead acid battery, but I think a similar modern RC car battery with USB charging must be possible if I can get the right shape
I just got an old Sony point and shoot camera that was my grandpa's. I wonder if it has anything on it. I'm super curious. Waiting for new batteries to get here. I love old digital cameras so much. I have a Mavica that does record video! It takes memory stick as well so that explains it
I document my life on a 2002 Panasonic palmcorder with skatebording and doing stupid stunts and I also use a windows 98 computer to play games and talk to my friends on AOL instant messenger thanks to Phoenix
18:44 Can't be stated enough. DO NOT THROW OUT OLD STUFF! One man's trash is another mans treasure.
Calling these cameras Retro are making me feel old 😂😂
i mean, same!

I've got a Canon A630 from 2007 my young daughter is using now. Added a big SD card and she can take practically unlimited photos.
Nice!!

I've kept all my cameras over the years and boy howdy, I'm glad I did now. I always get a kick out of the ones that use AAs lol.
I need to know how to connect all of those tvs. I have a coax splitter but I feel the more it's split , the greater the signal degrading.
