- In todays tutorial you see how to crochet this beaded mini flower string. For work you need a ball of yarn, a crochet hook and beads. The diameter of the beads is 1 centimeter. Where can I get the pearls?
Love all of your videos! She is using a 2mm steel hook, or a B1 US hook. Also it looks like mercerized crochet cotton thread size 10, as in aunt lydias crochet thread, round at any craft store, joanns, michaels, hobby lobby, etc. And finally a size 12mm pearl plastic bead.
I purchased 12mm beads and the holes on several brands aren't big enough for a crochet hook. do you know what brand this is?
+Tiffany Rousser try a smaller hook, maybe a steel hook 1.50 mm if you have it
Yes I have a 1.00, it doesn't fit.

I got the variety pack, but they all have the same holes. Even the more expensive ones. Ugh.
Hi all, i finally found pearls that would work. Walmart has a bag of 325 count pearls in a nice pearl, brighter white, 7.4mm, but the holes are big enough to fit a 1.5mm hook with ease. They are by the pipe cleaner aisle, not in their main bead jewelry section. I do believe the crochet thread is size 3 or 5. I prefer size 3 for substance of flower. Using a 2mm hook to make the flower, 1.5mm to thread the bead. Walmart carries the thread as well. Barnet, Red Heart etc. brand. Beautiful design! Hope that helps.

Where can you find beads with such large holes? Most glass pearl coated beads have tiny holes and your size #3 gauge yarn will not pass through, even as a single time, much less the doubled loop you pull through. Beads have tiny holes so they do not wobble on the thread or yarn used. Lovely project

You can insert all of the beads you will be using through the holes before you start crocheting. Then as you work you pull out one by one the beads for working.
