Aldi got me and my family through some tough financial times. Not sure what we would have did if they where not around. But we loved it so much we still shop there !
As a european (I'm from the UK) I found this video quite funny, over here we bag our shopping in pretty much all shops and almost every shop has the system of putting coins into the trolleys. Great video!
It's a german brand. Aldi was found by the Albrecht brothers. They called their Shopmfirst ALDI, bacause of ALbrecht, DIskont. thats, why ALDI and Lidl, are called Diskounter in germany. thats stands for low price supermarket. The Albrecht brothers had later split of, because one of them didn't want to sell cigaretts. so we had after than Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord. So one Aldi in the south, one in the north. the american aldi is Aldi Süd (south) and Aldi Nord is named Traders Joe in the States. If you like chocolate, i can tell you, my favourit is filled with white mousse au chocolate. I'm addicted to it. hmmmmm🤤

they do the offnamebrand stuff in germany too, but its just another name on the same product most of the times. they even produce most of the stuff in the same factory
I’d never heard of Aldi. When the video started and you were all excited about going there, I was like, ooooh, is this some secret Disney resort/place I don’t know about? 😂
So funny! I recently had my first Aldi experience too, the prices blew me away compared to coming from Alaska! I'm loving all the seasonal stuff they have too, like turkey stuffing chips, mmm.
We love Aldi in Virginia! I have to drive 45 min to get there but it’s worth it. I save money even though I have to pay for gas! I can fill up the cart for under $100!
I found your vid here on youtube and I loved how excited you were to go to Aldi. I'm in the UK and I have an Aldi 5 mins drive from my house. Yes, it's great. So cheap. It's my fave supermarket. Yes, we bag our own shopping LOL!
I’ve been going to Aldi since I was a kid and I’m 41! Lol I go every Wednesday to shop their AOS aisle of stuff. Always finding unique things and food. Their candles are amazing and only $3.99. Same quality as Bath and Body!!
Aldi is AWESOME! Now... 20 years ago, I wasn't a fan. It was a "stop there if you need something last minute - or European/specialty treats. NOW... It's our main grocery store. The quality is superb (even the knock-offs are tremendous). For us around HERE their prices are low, so I can imagine how shocked you must be! LOL Thought - the TP... not so much. Willow Soft yes, Willow... NO LOL You guys are awesome, I'm liking and subscribing!
'Knock-offs' are often just the same stuff in off-brand packaging, so you're not paying extra for the name. Aldi is used to tiny margins on stuff, sometimes just making cents per unit (or less); they live off of huge volumes and super-streamlined delivery chains. Probably one of the best examples of German efficiency at work.
@@Llortnerof In short, Aldi is used to the german grocery market, where you basically have to work like that to survive. That's the market *Walmart* went into and lost over 3 billion bucks within a few years before pulling out because the competition was too hard for them.

This eliminated the problem of people leaving their carts all over the place here in Europe in a very efficient way.
The one thing about Aldi I don't like is when you see something and you say "oh it's not on my list I'll come back and get it some other time" well you go back say a week and it's not there. So if you see something that you really love BUY IT! Cause it's gone the next day. Just aheads up in case Anchroage gets an Aldi. :)

Hi guys I'm a New Sub, u were recommended by Jessica Violet bn watching you guys for 2 days now, really enjoying ur Vlogs, Best Wishes from the UK 🇬🇧 xxx
There was an episode in Germany where Aldi redecorated whole stores because the new shelves *looked* too expensive. Those new shelves had actually also had a good price, but Aldi payed a ton of money to replace them with the old stuff that looked cheaper.
They opened one in California next to me. The problem is they open it between Costco and Sam’s Club. They will be out of business this year. They have two people shopping at the store and 1000 at each of the other two.
I have never been to Aldi either. We don't have them in Idaho. My daughter in Ohio loves it!! It was fun to tag along with you on your first trip. Now I know why she loves it so much!
U have to know u have a second Aldi in the US named "Trader Joes" there is a Vid out there about this. take a reaction to ( That Aldi is Secretly Two Different Stores.)
I live about 10 minutes from an Aldi. But my sister does the shopping for the two of us. Are you aware that Disney has started fireworks in the Magic Kingdom again? If you're still in Florida you need to go there!
I like that you are amazaed by standard Toilettpaper. That is the normal size here in Europe. Who would need it bigger. Looks like ALdi us uses lots of the products it has in Germany (like the chocolate)
Okay, here's what we learned from being in Germany. Two German brothers, started together, a store. Then when they came to the US, one wanted to sell liquor, the other not. One became Aldi and the other is Trader Joe's, which is way more upscale! Our Aldi in Pa does not sell Liquor, but then neither does our Trader Joe's. We have Pa State Liquor stores, or did, now recently many of our local grocers are allowed to have a liquor license. We also have Lidl which is also German and a step above Aldi in merchandise, in my opinion. We do sometimes run into Aldi to buy their cheap cans of Tuna in water for our Thai and Mocha. If you're gonna try other stores....try Lidl and also , you must find a publix and buy their Key lime pie!!!! Would love to see a vlog on them!
The story with the two brothers goes a bit different: They started with their dad's shop and changed and expanded it. Later one of them wanted to sell cigarrettes and the other one didn't, so they split into Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. The owners of Aldi Nord bought Trader Joe's in 1979.
@@Astrofrank Some additional Details: 1913 Karl Albrecht Sen. founded a grovery store in Essen-Schonnebeck. His both Sons Karl Jun. and Theo take over the store in 1945. 1948 they changed their concept to the discount concept: "Minimum range of products for a cheap price". 1954 the first chain store outside the city of Essen opened. 1955 100 chain stores opened. 1961 300 chain stores opened. 1961 official because they couldn't agree about selling cigarettes in their stores the both brothers split the company. Theo take controll over Aldi North, Karl Jun. over Aldi South. Both brothers arranged a "gentlemen aggreement" and divided Germany for their stores to avoid direct competition. This "No direct competition" is still valid for both Companies in most Countries. 1962 The first real discount store with the brand "Aldi" opened (stores before where not 100% self-service stores). Outside Germany in most countries the "no direct competition" rule is also established. Therefore All Aldi stores in Belgium, France, The Nederlands, Denmark, Poland, Portugal and Spain are owned by Aldi North. Stores in Australia, Ireland, UK and China owned directly by Aldi South. In Austria Aldi South take over the Hofer KG (1968) and Hofer (and therefore Aldi South) has stores in Austria, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland. Only in the US (Aldi North take over Traders Joe's in 1979, Aldi South started as Aldi in 1976 but re-arranged the US concept and expansion plans in 2015 massivly). (2020) Total number of Aldi Nord owned stores 5,241 Total number of Aldi Süd owned stores 7,178 Combined total of Aldi owned stores 12,419
Question... how does Aldi handle the sales tax in the US? In germany in every store the tax is already included on the price tag. Now Aldi as a german company do the same overseas or is the price on the tag still before tax?
I have never been to an Aldi either! Trader Joe’s is usually my premiere “go to” grocery store when we go on vacation 😂 my gosh, those prices though!! Totally gonna try to check an Aldi out next month.
@@linmagination gotta swap south with north! Aldi South has expanded to the USA and Aldi North merged with T.J’s. Kroger is nice too. It has a bit different selection, that’s good! Sad here in Germany and I think the rest of Europe, the Aldi can’t by no means match up with the US Aldi on Keto and grass fed production items! Unfortunately! Take care pal
@@LeggLife I just saw my post. The ones near me are fine...Most Aldis are great. But the one you went to was up a notch. So I'm glad you went there as it was an even better experience. The one you went to seemed bigger with even more selection. 😊
It's both ALDI, but not the same. Trader Joe's is ALDI NORD (Theo Albrecht) and ALDI is ALDI SÜD (Karl Albrecht). both were brothers. They divided ALDI in the 60th(friendly).
For me Aldi is synonymous with the UK. I have friends who live there and I get so excited to go to their grocery stores. So I think aldi and have fun memories. Also they have food stores in the UK the only sell frozen foods - not like TV dinners but prepared meals and frozen meats/veggies. It’s very cool
They also have special diet selections as well. My son is diabetic and they have the keto ice cream he likes cheaper than other stores in our area. My Aldi always carries riced cauliflower. I'm allergic to milk and they have non dairy ice cream as well. We aren't gluten free but they have a large gluten free section as well. I loved the cheese section before I became allergic to milk. The chocolate bars are awesome. They even have some dark chocolate bars I can eat :).
I found the video helpful. I like how excited he was going into Aldi for the first time. You think he was walking into a strip club💃 for the first time!🤦♂️🤣
I go toALDI by bicycle.... just put the Back-Panniers into the Aldi-Cart... let fill them.... hang them on the back of your bicycle and just go..... and at home..... position your bicycle just in the perfect position and unload the panniers.... ABSOLUTELY no Waste, no Plastic-Bags and some FREE exercise on top.....

(2020)
Total number of Aldi Nord owned stores 5,241
Total number of Aldi Süd owned stores 7,178
Combined total of Aldi owned stores 12,419
@@dirkspatz3692 Thank you for adding these details!
I lay out my bags in the boot of the car and pack straight into the bags from the trolley. No heavy lifting.
Question... how does Aldi handle the sales tax in the US? In germany in every store the tax is already included on the price tag. Now Aldi as a german company do the same overseas or is the price on the tag still before tax?
I have never been to an Aldi either! Trader Joe’s is usually my premiere “go to” grocery store when we go on vacation 😂 my gosh, those prices though!! Totally gonna try to check an Aldi out next month.
Yes!! Excited to hear your Aldi thoughts when you go!
Trader Joe's belongs to Aldi South
Aldi at the USA is actually an Aldi North brand
@@willloveyoumore What?! I had no idea, thanks for the info. ☺️ We have Kroger and Safeway grocery stores in Alaska.
@@darkredvan I may had mixed it, so thanks for the lesson to correct it!!
There are three in our town, in Indiana, one location is 4 minutes from our house.
Where is this Aldi?? I thought Auburn lived in Orlando. The one near me not like that at all. But glad you had a good experience.
She is in the Orlando area. I'm not sure exactly which one this is.
@@LeggLife I just saw my post. The ones near me are fine...Most Aldis are great. But the one you went to was up a notch. So I'm glad you went there as it was an even better experience. The one you went to seemed bigger with even more selection. 😊
Did you know.. Aldi and Trader Joe’s are one in the same! Same company
Ooh, I did not know that!
It's both ALDI, but not the same. Trader Joe's is ALDI NORD (Theo Albrecht) and ALDI is ALDI SÜD (Karl Albrecht). both were brothers. They divided ALDI in the 60th(friendly).
It reminds me of Winco!
Love you guys
Is that the Titusville aldi? 😊 so close to me!
I love Aldi!
My nearest Aldi is a state away. Never been to one either. You also live closer to Costco than I do.
I bet you have a list of things to buy to bring home to Anchorage.
Im wondering if the olive oil was good
Love the whiskey cheese, the boozeberry is yum, the truffle cheese delish too! They also carry some tasty low carb bars.
I love Aldi Adam
For me Aldi is synonymous with the UK. I have friends who live there and I get so excited to go to their grocery stores. So I think aldi and have fun memories. Also they have food stores in the UK the only sell frozen foods - not like TV dinners but prepared meals and frozen meats/veggies. It’s very cool
aldi is german
They also have special diet selections as well. My son is diabetic and they have the keto ice cream he likes cheaper than other stores in our area. My Aldi always carries riced cauliflower. I'm allergic to milk and they have non dairy ice cream as well. We aren't gluten free but they have a large gluten free section as well. I loved the cheese section before I became allergic to milk. The chocolate bars are awesome. They even have some dark chocolate bars I can eat :).
Cheaper and good quality
I found the video helpful. I like how excited he was going into Aldi for the first time. You think he was walking into a strip club💃 for the first time!🤦♂️🤣
If you like apple turnovers try Lidl there's a bakery there & that's where I buy them. I also shop Aldi.
as a German your reaction to our supermarket is very amusing 😅
Haha! You have a wonderful supermarket :)
Love their wine
I go toALDI by bicycle.... just put the Back-Panniers into the Aldi-Cart... let fill them.... hang them on the back of your bicycle and just go..... and at home..... position your bicycle just in the perfect position and unload the panniers.... ABSOLUTELY no Waste, no Plastic-Bags and some FREE exercise on top.....
Aldi in Minnesota don’t have alcohol. I like it because of the prices and you can find random things!
Also, there brands are delicious!
being excited about aldi.....
We have Aldi in England
Love it however it's s not far for me to go. It's 3 buses and a 20-30 minutes journey.
Aldi is my favorite store Adam I shopped there instead of Walmart live it
