    Hi! I own F90x now. Upgraded from F801. What I like in the F90X is the shutter speed adjustment can be done 1/3 ev instead of fixe 1ev in f801. It also has faster AF. And one more: the AF feature works with AF-S lenses! Now F90x is my favorite film camera!

  • @catey62

    Nothing wrong with the old AF and AF-D lenses, I have a good collection of them and love them, and use them often on my D2X digital camera. have never gotten a bad pic with them yet. and dont forget you can use the old manual focus lenses on them as well. and they can be tack sharp too if your'e prepared to take you time with them. I hope to get myself a F90X with battery grip soon.

      You're right ! They even sold focusing screens for N90 / N8008 series with microprisms, specially designed for MF lenses. And for AF/AFD lenses, I still have a lot of these and use them for professionnal assignments. There was a quirk about these in the early 2000's, some people tought that AF-D meant Digital, so second hand AF (non D) lenses were cheaper to buy.

    I used an f90 from new through the 90's professionally, missing features.... few but.. mirror lock up and a threaded cable release, especially mirror lock up, have frustrated me by their abscence in the past.

    I totally agree with you as far as cameras go,my F 90 X was my favorite. I sold off my FE,FA, and my Nikkormat and kept my F90X It was the outgrowth of all those cameras as far as features go. I still have any AF and AFD lenses, so it works fine with those lenses. Every so often I will want to shoot some slides and so I kept this camera for that purpose. I also have a control back from mine, which makes it possible to take double exposures on one frame a nice feature to have on a film camera. on the great camera that I will not sell speaking of which they sell for less money than the previous cameras, which is bizarre. It’s a much better camera than all of them put together. Good review and thanks for sharing your thoughts.😊

    G lenses work in program mode or shutter-preferred mode. That's not a terrible hardship since you can see the aperture value being used.

      @@MrAnalogDan12 I love M best and I think leaving aperture rings off of cameras is an abomination, but as long as shutter, aperture, and exposure compensation are in the viewfinder and program mode is shiftable, it's usable. 🙂

    Excellent video! A wonderful underrated camera. In the 1990's I bought two Canon A2 cameras to be used in my photo business. The Canon lenses were very nice but, the camera bodies were not very sturdy (backs used to crack at the hinge). I replaced them with a Nikon F90x and an F801. Despite rough everyday use, the Nikons never gave me any trouble. Thank you for a very interesting video.

    Nice review on a sleeper camera. Good choice for users looking for more automation out of a film camera. It's the plasticy build quality and bland design that help keep the prices down. For Canon users checkout the ELAN series of film cameras for similar value.

    • @MrAnalogDan12
      @MrAnalogDan12  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The F100 is perfect if you own modern lenses (AFS, VR...). Total compatibility. AFS or AFG lenses on a N90s will be limited to P and S modes. Since you own a FM2 camera, I bet you own AI and AIS lenses. They will work on both cameras the same way.

    How about canon eos 30v? What is better, I see the differences only in price (canon cheaper), better af (eos) and number of lens (canon lens are cheaper too btw). So what would be better for film photography as advanced hobby, not as the professional use?

    • @MrAnalogDan12
      @MrAnalogDan12  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The advantage with the Canon EOS30 is the ability to use modern EF lenses, while the Nikon N90 is limited to AF and AF-D lenses. If I were you, i'd go with the brand I already own/know. The Canon EOS30 was an excellent advanced camera, not Pro but High End.

    I think many people new to film want cameras that look mechanical. Also the sheer number of features can be off putting. Many d slr users rely on automation, and if they short manual they rely on taking many shots to achieve good exposure as they don’t pay attention to metering. As good as matrix metering is if one relies on it blindly with film results won’t be good.

    • @MrAnalogDan12
      @MrAnalogDan12  ปีที่แล้ว

      I also prefer the look and feel of a Nikon FE over the N90s. I don't know if I mentionned it, but to me a classic camera like a FM or F2 is like a 1969 Camaro while this N90s is a Lexus. We both know who wins in the stylish department !

    • @danem2215
      @danem2215 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretentious maybe, but I enjoy a 70s SLR over more modern ones. I still use modern ones, and would 100% prefer them in certain situations. As you said, lots of features means more thinking, which I don't always want to do. Sometimes it's enough to shoot for shooting's sake. For newcomers there's less magic in the process when the SLR looks and works nearly the same as your digital EOS. That's not the style or feel they go for, and frankly I don't either most of the time.

    HI.
    I recently got my old n90s working again.
    I had a question.
    If I should shutter, aperture, or manual and underexpose the film, the screen reeds ERR.
    The Err is blinking and cannot be cleared till I press the shutter release.
    As long as I point at a well lit subject, the film moves to the next frame. But one frame is not exposed and just moves to the next.
    Has this happened to you on the n90s?
    Any suggestions? Thanks

      I was going to respond to the video comments about never seeing a faulty one. Well I just received a replacement. My first one produced these “err” messages every so often. I tried everything but ended up just using cheap film and accepting a couple of missed frames clearing the message. I have loads of other cameras now so I stopped using for a year and when I came to use it again it err every frame….then I noticed the blank film I was using to testing wasn’t winding on….the transport had failed completely.
