sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
That lick is so awesome! Took me 30 years and never figured it out, another player showed me and it was like being shown the combination to a rock treasure. Ha! Overstated just a tad probably, but Montrose added so much to EWB. Didn't know Montrose was gone until today, either. Wow, looks like he died within a year of this. Sad. Guy still had it. May we all take advantage of the time we have on this Earth! Go to the gig, spend the $, take the trip, see the band, attack your bucket list. Today!
Nice to see Edgar and Ronnie kicking it big time! So sad to hear about Ronnie RIP Dan Hartman and Chuck Ruff too. Thanks for the soundtrack to my teen years. Still sounds great today.
Grew up in Corte Madera. Saw Ronnie many times including Winterland and joining Sammy Hagar for his debut at the Cow Palace and with Davey Pattison as Gamma. One of my all time faves ! I miss him!
As a bogey guitarist I was always huge Montrose fan . He was way under rated , one of the greats who advanced rock up a notch …. Still play rock candy in all its overdriven glory to this day
Such a great talent that man was....we lost him WAY too soon. I've thought many, many times over the years just how much more he would've contributed had he not passed when he did. Writing, performing, producing....that guy could do it all, and very well too.
Someone blogged after RonMon's passing that he had ridden his Bad Motor Scooter to Space Station #5. What a blessing to have him for 64 years. I'll always be grateful.
With all due respect to Mr. Montrose, in the excitement of the moment he started playing "Crossroads",instead of "Freebird" @ 1:05. The band adapts to the situation with the audience unaware.
I've been an avid musician/concert goer since the mid 70's and have met many famous musicians. The nicest, most down to earth, musician I ever met was Ronnie Montrose. Miss you Ronnie.
Such a killer video Rovina with the beautiful city in the backdrop! I never got to see Edgar, but I did see Johnny and later on Ronnie. Good memories! Thanks for recording this.
Grande perda!
I'm not sure why all the negative comments of Edgar's falsetto were posted ?? The original songs were sung in falsetto and it's ~ 40 years later and it's a simple cell phone video at a simple and smallish (i imagine) outdoor Arts festival. Waddya want ? He does a fine job. Quit trolling !
heard a lot of Ronnie ,but never followed his music, wish the old stayed young and I stayed me same age 4 life, following vickis saying,,but all great things got to end and thus rap begins
You don't know Freebird from Free Ride. Also, the intro to Free Ride is the same as Crossroads. He repeated it after turning up his amp. You are flat out mistaken, pal. Ronnie Montrose....one of THE GREAT American guitar players. RIP Ronnie.
Thing is every guitar player Edgar has had has played this. Ronnie just played it the best! You can see Edgar gettin off on the difference he knows better then anyone does!
The only vocals Edgar should be singing are on Frankenstein. Good lord that was bad. He is an incredibly gifted musician, but what a terrible voice. God bless Dan Hartman. This is his song and it would have been nice to see a shout out to him.
M O N T R O S E !!!
Saw them 6 times, each time with Dan Hartman, and 3 times with Ronnie Montrose. My favorite band as a teenager. Thought Dan Hartman was so COOL! RIP
Wishes Ronnie knew how well he was loved and how much his music was appreciated.
Totally agree, he was so great.
Mhm
Awesome performance by Edgar and Ronnie! Still own this vinyl LP from 1972. Ronnie, you left us way too soon! RIP
Ronnie plays the guitar like he's been doing it for a thousand years. What a great video!

I think Montrose took his own life
@@michaelstratton6701Watch the Sammy Hagar interview about it
I loves how he bows to Ronnie....paying due respect for giving him his gig and so many great tunes....
Followed MONTROSE ever since I heard this song and Frankenstein. Ronnie's debut album is the greatest rock album ever. 8 kickass songs.
Eramos felices escuchando la musica de los 70 y bailando en las disco de madrid..
Edgar & Johnny unos genios
Two musical great - Montrose and Edgar Winter. Both exceptionally gifted musically.
Nice to see Edgar and Ronnie kicking it big time!
So sad to hear about Ronnie RIP
Dan Hartman and Chuck Ruff too.
Thanks for the soundtrack to my teen years.
Still sounds great today.
I saw both Artists in the 70’s Montrose was great
Excellent! I'll bet it sounded great live! Hahaha! I love it when things go wrong for professionals. And they usually handle it professionally.
My high school years…all these guys, and lots of others came to San Antonio every year…and rocked the Municipal Auditorium. Great times!
Grew up in Corte Madera. Saw Ronnie many times including Winterland and joining Sammy Hagar for his debut at the Cow Palace and with Davey Pattison as Gamma. One of my all time faves ! I miss him!
Very Awesome 👍👍👍👍👍. Wish I could have been able to have seen them . Thanks to the poster of this video.
Love the respect gesture that the other guitarist gave Ronnie and Ronnie was big enough to return it.
An iconic riff there by the great RONNIE MONTROSE. EDGAR is in amazing shape. Ya know this a helluva rockin tune for the ages. Never ever gets old.
Love Edgar’s voice...
Great song with a lot of memories. Dirt bikes, fine women, swimming in the quarry.
As a bogey guitarist I was always huge Montrose fan . He was way under rated , one of the greats who advanced rock up a notch …. Still play rock candy in all its overdriven glory to this day
miss Dan Hartman Edgars bass player sang lead on this song and many of his songs RIP Danny
yes, Dan was lead vocals on the studio version .... but .... the bass was Randy Jo Hobbs.
dan hartman , amazing musician
And don't forget. Not only did Dan sing lead on Free Ride, but he actually WROTE the song, too!
Edgar Winter Group had 3 Top 40 singles - one was an instrumental and the other two were sung by Dan Hartman

This is legendary
They sound real good 😊.
Always dug Ronnie Montrose.., saw the original Montrose band when they opened for Humble Pie many, many moons ago....
Ahh, man!! This is too cool. Thank you, whoever posted this! Video like this is timeless.
With all due respect to Mr. Montrose, in the excitement of the moment he started playing "Crossroads",instead of "Freebird" @ 1:05. The band adapts to the situation with the audience unaware.
I thought that's what it was!
No, think it was Jet Airliner and I think Ronnie was confused on that opening. RIP
Winter bro always alot of talent 🎸🎛
I've been an avid musician/concert goer since the mid 70's and have met many famous musicians. The nicest, most down to earth, musician I ever met was Ronnie Montrose. Miss you Ronnie.
I met a few never Ronnie but Sammy Hager Paul Stanley and b.b. king were the nicest I met

Thanks for posting this. One of my all-time fav guitar riffs and guitarists.
Dam...that is great!
Nice comment I think you said it all! He was great!
I seen them in grand rapids mi bout 3 years ago..free concert from local radio station...absolutely awesome
I met Ronnie Montrose & Edgar in NYC & had the privilege of photographing their performance at Madison Square Garden by request.
Please tell me you still have these photos!
Such a killer video Rovina with the beautiful city in the backdrop! I never got to see Edgar, but I did see Johnny and later on Ronnie. Good memories! Thanks for recording this.
Saw them both in 1972 (I think) on the Frankenstein tour in Scranton, PA. Mott the Hoople opened.
Love it.
Yeah!!!!! Seen Ronnie with EWG once in 73, and I think Montrose opened for them the next time I seen EWG.
Rest in Peace Ronnie.

Dan Hartman sang lead on the original !
Fair point but we might have never heard of Edgar Winters if not for Dan Hartman. He's made a ton of cash from Dan Hartmans original work.
One great guy!!!
First record LP i ever bought!
qwesome
heard a lot of Ronnie ,but never followed his music, wish the old stayed young and I stayed me same age 4 life, following vickis saying,,but all great things got to end and thus rap begins
Get Ronnies solo album OPEN FIRE. Its tremendous.
sweet
RIP Ronnie
Cool to see this but I wish Dan Hartman was around to sing it. RIP.
Yeah wasn't that his killer guitar riff? Read that somewhere
@@babydaddy1930 Yes it was. He played that double neck bass/guitar and did the opening guitar riff and then jumped to bass. The guy was amazing.
You don't know Freebird from Free Ride. Also, the intro to Free Ride is the same as Crossroads. He repeated it after turning up his amp.
You are flat out mistaken, pal.

Wow Montrose is an old man...i wish the old stayed young forever..lol
I wish the old stayed young forever...had a giggle at that one.
he was sick w/ cancer for years, sadly he's passed.
Great camera work! NOT! NO! NOT, NO! I'm f*cking dizzy!
1:05...."ohhhh...."

Ronnie once lived off SFD in a small small place next to sweet Lizzie... sigh, earllllee seventies
Damn, Edgar has a strong back....
Where’s all those boss katanas I’m supposed to throw my Marshall amps away for ?
xxx
Pretty sure Dan Hartman sang this on the record.
I sure missed Rick Derringer on this.
thank god I'm old and skinny
@PinkLederhosen Bit of an exagerration. He's only been playing for 950 years. LOL
whats hulk hogan doing there?
Geez man, Ronnie looks like Fred Mertz these days.
Yeah but Ronnie died a few years back now. Never speak ill of the dead.
What's up with the falsetta Edgar, having voice and throat problems ?
+honeychild Lor there's nothing wrong with Edgar's voice, if you know his music he does that sometimes, just who he is.
smoke another one dude
The only vocals Edgar should be singing are on Frankenstein. Good lord that was bad. He is an incredibly gifted musician, but what a terrible voice. God bless Dan Hartman. This is his song and it would have been nice to see a shout out to him.
Scott Oliver I think this version might be featured on the Manilow Collection!
Bill Hewitt fuck you
Your what we call a real Dumb Ass! His voice is timeless, just ask Ringo Starr.... Ha
when did edgar winters get Caitlyn Jenner to sing for them? damnnnnnnn
They sound real good 😊.
RIP Ronnie
