Of course they also hope there can be people like the protagonist who is brave and just, but at the same time, they also know that can't be true, because the life of the real ancient Chinese people is very miserable, much more miserable than the people in the Middle Ages. People like the protagonist can absolutely not survive in that society. In fact, the whole Chinese history and culture is very heavy and pessimistic.

In this series everyone who suffers, suffers by the weight of their own actions, its weird to see a protagonist that put traps for her enemies, like a mantis, she can eat preys much bigger than her, luring them into attacking her and killing them in the process, gruesome, beautiful and fascinating.
It's a refreshing twist fro the usual soap opera where the female lead protagonist was doormat who always falling into the villain's schemens and relying on someone (usually the male lead) and only in the story to cry and be pitied

This drama is so unique and extremely well crafted. So many aspects go into this drama from the setting, dialogue, plot, justice, and all the way down to the minute details of the outfits. It’s such an amazing drama!! 😍
It’s a drama though not true, accurate historical portrayal. The only realistic thing is the clothing, and that she become Imperial Noble Consort but only after murder a few dozens people guilty and innocent; slaves servants maids aren’t really allowed to speak up like these girls are.
