*A quiet **Generater.Systems** , love the dual fuel capabilities, camper is 50 amp but the adapter helps and found it still handles the load. Haven't taken a camping trip yet, that's in a couple of weeks. Will see how well it does over a long weekend.*
This was recommended by a friend who has had an identical model for a couple years now. After filling with oil and test running it. We have used it to power several things and all have work as they should. We ran it most of memorial weekend, ran flawlessly.
I have an older Powerhorse 3500 and a Predator 3500. I haven’t done in depth testing but I run them together for backup power at my house and bring one with the RV if we are dry camping. My subjective opinion is the Powerhorse runs smoother and seemed to ramp up for power surges better. But, they both work well. I just installed solar with and inverter and lithium in my RV so I’m considering selling them and getting a smaller 2000-2500 for the RV and a larger one that produces 240 v for home.
@@johnnysweekends - I have two AC’s on the 5th wheel. One is 15k and the other is 13.5k. I put Microair Easy starts on both and my 15k is wired to the inverter circuit so it can run (not long) on batteries. More importantly, it can be boosted from the batteries so I should be able to run both on a 3,000-3,500 watt Gen and easily run one on a 2,000 watt one. I’ve thought about keeping my Powerhorse to bring if we are dry camping in hot weather and getting a 2,000 Gen for the rest of the time. I love the weight and quietness of the Honda but I don’t love the price. I’m still researching if it’s worth my money vs a less expensive one given how limited it will be used with the solar now.
Ahh got ya. Yea sound like a good set up and you have all the right items with a soft start. Biggest thing will be where you camp and if you need both ACs for hours. You could even look into a mini split if your RV has a place but they really are great and the power draw is so much less. A few installs have been done on 5ths and more. I was gonna do one but no good place in the model I have now. But if you grab a small gen the small 2200 Honda is a power house for sure. I like mine. Look in the used world for them. Can find a great deal and boom you have a Honda and will last for a long time… Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching 👍🏼😀

Nice...I've been running my Predator 3500 for about 2 years now with no problems. Made a few minor mods so it runs well at altitude (9k ft.) and no problems. The biggest gripe I have is the cheap, tiny little wheels and the wheel lock. Ever try dragging this thing through the dirt in a campground? There are mods out there to remedy this, but my next gen. will have dual fuel and a remote start so...
That was the biggest issue with it was the little wheels and no lift handle. Makes it hard to move. Wow 9k is high power drop for sure. Yea dual fuel is nice and the remote for sure!
I wish I had seen this 3 weeks ago when I bought a new Predator. I am happy with it. The only thing that disappoints me is the whimsy 3 months warentee. It should be at least a year. The predator does meet my power needs, and I love how quiet it is. I already changed the oil in it after our first trip.
Good morning! Thank you for this great comparison video! I really like how you quantify the escalating amp loads to determine where the generator reaches it's cut off point. And....you use items that are real world that people would actually be using in their camper. Ha....I am still all over the map as to what I will chose for a generator. I need to just order something as I suspect our travel trailer will arrive in a week or two. I will definitely put a soft start on the a/c. I would really prefer to get a smaller 2200-2500w generator so that I can move it easily. And then if I find that the altitudes of CO are too much for it, can get a second one. Of course, I'd love for that to be a Honda. But, I can get 2 off brands for the price of one honda. Or....I can cut to the chase and just get one of those 3500-4000w 100lb options. That would definitely compensate for the altitude, and we wouldn't have to count amps as much. As long as it is a wheeled model, I've seen folks carry ramps to help get the generators in their pick ups. Another consideration is that I'll install a fairly robust solar system. So the generator would only be a back up if cloudy or we are in a treed area. And, it would be to run the a/c on occasion. Safe travels....and thank you for what your do. Does anyone know if the generator has a pressure relief valve for starting? Running compression test on one for a friend and I am only getting about 70 psi. Have spark and fuel. Also, is there a fuel shut off plunger on the carb? Wondering if that is what I see. Maybe just staving it. Valves are abour 6 thousandths at TDC. 500 hours.
70 is pretty low psi. 90 I think is lowest for service limit. The carb just has a float like a normal carb to stop fuel flow and the control dial turns the fuel valve on and off. Make sure low speed jet is not plugged but your compression is pretty low.
@@johnnysweekends Thank you for a response, quick too. I really appreciate it. I was thinking the rings must be worn, but I thought I'd ask. Good video... I really liked the way you compared them... I have the Predator 3500... I love it... but I will definitely buy the Powerhorse now... I need more wattage... I am assuming you can parallel these generators together?
Thank you, and yes the powerhorse 4500 can be paralleled to another for a total of 7000 running watts!!! 😲 lol Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching 👍🏼😀
I have 2 predator 3500 watt inverter generators and after rejetting them they now run perfect. I live at 5k feet above sea level and when they got hot they would sputter. The spark arrestor kept getting fouled and I deleted it and even even removed the charcoal canister. This did NOT fix the problem. It was running too rich. There is a vid on this by the way. I also bought a WEN 400 open frame inverter generator and it actually came with a couple extra carburetor jets for high altitude. I used the high altitude jet and it wroks great but is a lot louder than the predators.
Yea at that altitude a rejet for sure. And yea the spark arrestor will get plugged of running to rich and low loads were it’s just above idle or maybe mid throttle or less. Never gets warm enough to burn it off.
Typically they come lean from the factory so they will be as clean as possible but the original predator actually ran rich and would spot the flame arrestor if loads were 1/3 or less. I do t know if the 4500 is like that as I didn’t run enough hours on it to evaluate to running condition. Normally if it’s running fine and the plug looks good along with flame arrestor then don’t touch it.
Hey Johnny nice review. I have to say if the 212 engine can put out more watts then the powerhorse has to be the winner. I have the Predator 3500 and it has never let me down. Recently the screen went. Do you know if they have fixed the issue on the replacement screen or is it better to wire up an auxiliary gauge as you had?
I guess on eBay I did see a screen a while back. Could look again. But the powerhorse came first then predator came next then the new powerhorse again. I assume we may see a predator update but they sell so well I don’t know if they will. I personally like the champion 4500 or 4650 and dual dual would be even better. But Genmax has new units coming so I’m waiting to get my hands on that.
Excellent review. Good noise and load test - but, please get the name right. It's PowerHORSE, not Powerhouse. The manufacturer might appreciate that...

Everything is up on price a little right now. Doesn’t really matter if it’s black or yellow they both have a 30 amp RV plug. I like dual fuel for the option but if you want the remote that might better suit you, they don’t make dual fuel with a remote because you have to shut off the generator at the propane tank, so it’s kind of a safety option

My generator still has all the tags on.
Did you get the warranty? They have a really good return program even with out it. I would try and return but yea the screens started going bad on the latest units and over all they are not as reliable as the original ones from about 3 years ago or so
@@johnnysweekends No warranty. I've never use it, just breaking it in, 1/2 hr at a time once a month. It's like new but past warranty. I bought this for emergeny power outages only and so far not needed. Still has all the stickers on it.
The generator should last at least as long as break in period. a. Breaking-in the Engine will help to ensure proper equipment and Engine operation. b. The break-in period will last about 30 hours of use. DO NOT exceed 75% of the Generator’s running wattage during this period.
🤦 I know I put a apology in the description and mentioned I called it powerhouse. Unfortunately like everyone I’m human and make mistakes. Trying to fix but not at all easy.
Thank you for this comment I was so confused and had no idea what he was referring to at all until I saw this comment! I have no idea what I would have done without you! Your cognitive fortitude and clairvoyant like ability will forever stay in my mind!

Wow interesting I didn’t know anyone was having issues. This is the same generator as the predator with a different inverter board. Surprised it was having a issue.
Nice review. 1 question where to get powerhouse? HB is everywhere here (albuquerque). I have never seen a powrhouse just overpriced hondas and champions. not much sold locally
Wow interesting, surprised because it’s the same exact model as the predator. The 4500 model is different but haven’t heard much problems with the 3500.
Most care about two things, how loud it is and how long it will last. But I don’t have time to run generators and burn fuel for 2/3000 hrs. People complain about China stuff, well I bet I could pin point out 85% of the stuff in your house or what you own is Chinese made. No problem with all that stuff but a generator from China? Oh no. I don’t like it either but unfortunately people 90% of the time choose price for a item they need over USA made and name brand, am I not right??
@@johnnysweekends agree , it's just like this money don't go far and it is hard to make a critical decision on something that will last , so u don't have to keep purchasing, however my friend bought a Chinese stihl clone 044 chainsaw and that thing rocks but again will it last ?
Idk, it seems the items that are look a likes or a “good” comparable item if it be a saw or generator are actually doing better then they used to. And unfortunately Honda is sliding the other way. According to the forums and groups not to mention comments from viewers, the Hondas and having their share of problems as well. Now for the most part you can fix Honda and Yamaha when the others may or may not be fixable. Which is why I mostly promote champion for a not Honda or Yam. Even Wen as there are places to get parts and such. Unfortunately Honda finally sold out and now more and more of the items made are starting to come from china. Over all the Honda will still last but if it is not lasting as long and parts have to be replaced then your feeding money into something you could have bought two or three gens. Maybe four depending on the parts and labor the Honda needs. Plus the new tech and power the others provide. Unfortunately life has gone the way of disposable. No one keeps things very long. The seven year average is so true.

They wouldn't do anything, they wouldn't even admit they were having problems with the displays. I use to stop by their store and buy something every week, NO MORE.
You keep saying powerHouse but it is powerHorse
🤦 I know I put a apology in the description and mentioned I called it powerhouse.
Unfortunately like everyone I’m human and make mistakes.
Trying to fix but not at all easy.
Thank you for this comment I was so confused and had no idea what he was referring to at all until I saw this comment! I have no idea what I would have done without you! Your cognitive fortitude and clairvoyant like ability will forever stay in my mind!
🤷🏼♂️
My 3500 is more then enough for my little camper so I'll pass on the 4500.
I live in Florida and I had a powerhorse generator not even a year old, We had a hurricane come any knock out my power, I pull out my powerhorse and started it up 6 hr later it blows up, So I called the company they told me To Bad, Come to find out the company was having trouble with there generators blowing up and never said a word, Needless to say I'm not a fan of Powerhorse.
Wow interesting I didn’t know anyone was having issues. This is the same generator as the predator with a different inverter board.
Surprised it was having a issue.
Johnny this was a few years back
Ahh got ya. So was it the previous 3500 model then?
Sorry, It was a bigger model 7000 or more not sure.
Ahh got ya. Yea that’s probably made from a completely different company.
Nice review. 1 question where to get powerhouse? HB is everywhere here (albuquerque). I have never seen a powrhouse just overpriced hondas and champions. not much sold locally
Northern tool is a carrier of the unit and you can also buy it in the link in the description through generatorbible for the best deal.
👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends No NT's in NM. Closest is in Amarillo
Got ya so web link only or a different option.
Thank You !☆☆☆☆☆
Your welcome ..😀👍🏼
Tks
Your welcome 👍🏼😀
Mine won't start
Which one… what did you check ?
I've had 3. POWERHOUSE 3500. purchased 1 the other 2 were warranty out. HAVE never gotten more than 50hrs out of a powerhouse. POS.
Wow interesting, surprised because it’s the same exact model as the predator.
The 4500 model is different but haven’t heard much problems with the 3500.
Instead of silly sound checks , I would like to see a unit that has been in service for years , who knows how these cheap China crap will last
Most care about two things, how loud it is and how long it will last.
