Who is stopping Glastonbury getting its Chemist

- Something very wrong is happening in Glastonbury.
Last year both boots and Tesco's closed their pharmacies in the town leaving only the pharmacy based in the Faversham lane surgery still operating.
The pharmacy despite the heroic efforts of the staff there simply cannot cope with demand resulting in many people being turned away with ubfilled prescriptions.
So imagine the shock and horror in the town when it was discovered that an appeal against the new chemist was lodged and that this has meant delaying the opening chemist for the last six months.
But wait it gets worse, muxh worse. Watch and be prepared to get angry
Get a petition going Gabriel and have in online and printed off. Collect signatures and reasons - personal stories of the incapacity felt by those without these basic amenities - contact your local council and county council and MP's yes, time to shine BEFORE the election to see how together they could get things done, If not why vote for them?!
Believe me that is all being done
Well done Gabriel thank you for your sterling efforts !!
My pleasure! Thank you
Seems like we have corporate interests at work here Gabriel instead of what is best for the community needs of Glastonbury Thanks for keeping us informed brother 🙏🏿🙏🙏🏽
I agree 100%
Thanks Gabriel 🙏🏼
how appalling! I could understand if the company objecting were actually going to open a chemist there, but if not, why on earth appeal? Alot of tourists don't even know where Feversham lane is! It's not exactly easy to find. disgraceful.
Do hope they are successful,a delivery service for elderly and infirm would be useful ,our local chemists deliver repeat prescriptions for those who need them.
In view on the impending General Election, have any prospective MP’s pledged to fight for a second pharmacy?
I don't know but they will all be at St Johns church on the 18th for a hustings and you can guarantee that question will be asked
It is a disappointing move by the company behind Knights, no thought for the town , no thought for their own staff .Its all about the money . Profit over people .Not a great look !The hard work that has been put into the building alone is astonishing, we cannot let this happen .
Absolutely. I feel so sorry for the staff at Faversham Lane they have been rushed off their feet and had to deal with angry customers and it isn't their fault
I had to go to Somerton to pick up my prescription. We need this pharmacy now.
Your words say it all. Thank you
Thank you!
A pleasure. I just wish I didn't have to make it
It is outrageous. Glastonbury needs a high street chemist. Who is in this meeting as one chemist can not and is failing to serve Glastonbury.
The meeting will be Paul Manning the town councillor who has been working behind the scenes to get the chemist open. The Pharmacist who is opening the new chemist as well as two representatives from the side thatvis appealing and the governing board adjudicators. The meeting is held over a zoom conference so nobody will be in the same room. I am also informed that we do not know if the decision will be taken on the 17 or if we have to wait
Great vid mate. You should make a follow up video on how we can help. If there are any protests, details of the meeting on the 17th etc
You've got a good platform to reach lots of glastifarians. If we can get enough people to make enough noise about it we might have a chance.
Thanks for that. Believe me if this decision goes against us there will be so much protest going on
I don’t understand why Boots are closing so many branches all of a sudden! The one in Lyme Regis went this winter. Pharmacies are essential- it begs the question what next- the GP surgeries? Everything is being whittled away bib by bit. Thanks Gabriel!
And there you have struck the nail right on the head. The government is farming out a lot of consultations to pharmacists to free the doctors up. Not much use if the pharmacies are all shutting
I agree, Glastonbury needs another chemist, I take my hat off to the staff who are working so hard but another chemist is vital.
Absolutely
Maybe the selected lady Mayor should start getting to work.
We don't have a lady mayor
@@GlastonburyGabriel I must be living in a different Glastonbury then.
Must be
I hope it goes in our favour. As much as I appreciate +Well pharmacy, it is a small store that just can't comfortably contain a town that has 8000 residents. You can't go in there to look for items because people are queueing around shop, there's not enough room. There's not enough GP's and therefore they're overworked and so pharmacists are the next best thing for many people to see. How can you do that if +Well Pharmacy has no space, and only one pharmacist who is constantly busy signing off medication for the hoards of patients. Chemists are more than just a place to pick up your prescriptions. Visitors to the town need a place to go to also and this is a tourist town... ugh, I could go on. There is plenty of 'sales' to go around. + Well pharmacy need to reel their neck in and do what's right for the people in this town and not themselves.
It’s the poor staff at Faversham lane that feel sorry for for
@@GlastonburyGabriel I feel for everyone affected. It's not fair on staff or the customers. Having a local Chemist/Pharmacist is more than just picking up a prescription, these goons have no idea, just see pound signs.
Down with the petty people, up with love of the elders and ancestors!
I will go with that
Glasto needs a chemische....
It does
