- During the college basketball game between Rutgers and Purdue, Rutgers pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season as Cam Spencer hit the game winning three pointer with 14 seconds left to take a 65-64 lead. Purdue failed to score on their final possession and Rutgers defeated a top ranked Purdue team for the second straight season.

Trying to shoot a 3 when they were only down by one makes no sense to me especially when their best player is a big
They tried to give it to him but they were collapsing so they went with the open 3 over a contested layup/hook.
Tell me you dont watch basketball without telling me you dont watch basketball. Edey got doubled the instant he touched it both times. Not the shot that they wanted, but Rutgers took away that option so they had to take the open three instead of a double teamed miracle shot.

Purdue got an open shot and made it to go up 64-62. Then Rutgers got an open shot after the defender flew 10 feet by and made it to go up 65-64. Then Purdue got an open shot... and missed. And that's all she wrote.

It’s not an addiction to 3s. This is what happens when you have a dominant big man in the post. They were trying to feed him so he could get an easy 2 but Rutgers kept doubling down making him kick it back out and the end result was a missed 3

Anyone who thinks this was actually an upset (or that Purdue is a true no. 1 team) is clueless about the sport of basketball. Rutgers is the better team, period. But I'll give credit where credit is due. In my experience Purdue's fanbase has been relatively classy and gracious in defeat, which cannot be said about Indiana's fans. I've lost count of how many times RU has beaten Indiana in the last few years and their shitstain fans still act shocked every time and maintain their unearned sense of superiority despite not having been relevant in decades.

When Edey receives the ball that deep in the post, he has to go to work. There are few, if any, at the college level who can outmuscle him. He kept kicking it out to his perimeter players when he should have attacked the rim.
Edey is unstoppable 1on1, but they doubled him the second he touched the ball both times. Open 3 > double teamed miracle shot thats just common sense. He made the right play the shot just didn't fall it happens

Listen, I know hindsight is 20/20 and all. But Purdue should’ve fouled as soon as Rutgers got the ball, so the worst case scenario is a tie and it goes to overtime. And they would get the ball back with either a 1 point lead or a tie and chance to win. Thats poor strategy on the coach.

Rutgers isn't really known for being great at sports, but to be fair, their basketball team has been pretty legit the last few years. This season will probably be their 3rd or 4th straight year making the NCAA tournament (They would have made it during the covid year when the tournament got cancelled).
