I kind of have the same problem, but with my apartment instead. I bought too many statement pieces, so making my home look cohesive is really difficult now. I should’ve started with a more neutral look and then switched things out one by one so I could make sure everything still looks good together

the thrifting thing is so real, now i try to be more firm with myself. also, my roommate came up with the idea of thrift karma- you put back a really cool piece and get good karma because you've let someone else enjoy it more than you would've! helps alleviate some of the FOMO of not buying something.

agree! people really should not thrift things not their size/style for the purpose of reselling, bc imagine someone getting at thrill over finding it who's actually going to wear it and get it for 5 bucks rather than it sitting in someone's house waiting to be sold

@@sphia1510 yes, it's addictive to watch too. but i honestly think you should only thrift things you can fit in already. someone else at plus size may need and like the original design.

When you know your style, where too shop, then trend or no trend, you will wear it & love it.
I bought 1 jeans from zara in store & i'm curvy
And i wore them & loved them so much that it was "wearing, washing repeat for 6y)
About fastfashion: you can make everything fastfashion if your buying/wearing habits are off
And at same time (going back to " when you know your style etc..) you can make fastfashion slow bc when you love an item, wear it a lot , take care of it then you can have it for yearsssss
Tip : buy only when you (need it ofcourse, want it like REALLY WANT IT) and when you in a sec can make atleast min. 3 or 4 outfits with the item
And go in store if possible.
Then the misbuys will keep out
    🤷🏻‍♀️ simple no?

    My 2021 regrets :
. Following the corset trend (didn’t suit me and I did not feel comfortable)
. Buying everything oversized (cause I’m short ,everything just swamped me)
. Buying stilettos from a fast fashion site (not comfortable as the sole was so thin)
. Buying colourful items (my go to colours are black blue and white and I so should have stuck to that as I never wore the bright colours. A small amount of colour is enough for me)
. My Jadon doc martens (couldn’t break them in, so painful, never wore them much and ended selling them)
. Following trends (I never ended up actually loving the outfits until I started wearing what I wanted to, and not following a trend)
. Flared leggings / wide leg trousers (do not suit me. I kept a blue pair of wide leg trousers to have another go with in the summer but I am doubtful)

I think my biggest fashion buying regrets would have to be buying more revealing clothing like strappy stops and shorter skirts that were supposed to be 'flattering' but that I'm just not comfortable in. Going forward I definitely won't but anything without sleeves or anything above the knee. It's also just not practical in my extremely windy city to be worrying about short skirts flying up! And the other one is 100% jeans. I have wasted so much money on jeans because I felt like I 'had' to wear them, but they just aren't comfortable (sensory issues) or flattering for my body type, and my weight fluctuates so much that fitted clothing is just a hassle. I literally only ended up keeping one pair of flowy pants I love (they have cockatoos on them!), and spend the rest of the time in long vintage dresses and skirts I love. There are no fashion have-tos!

Whenever I go thrifting I try to keep a mentality of window shopping. Some of my worst purchases from thrift stores/ flea markets are because I felt like I needed to buy something. If I do find something I like at a thrift store (or any store tbh) I walk around with it and look at other items, if I still feel drawn to whatever I'm carrying then I'll get it. I also try to keep in mind what outfits I can make with this and what I already own or what I can do to it to make it something I'll actually wear.

I felt called out with the Zara jeans thing 😭😅. I love ‘em because my hips and thighs are really straight I do have a narrower waist but the extra room really isn’t a big deal for me, also my butt is nonexistent so I don’t even worry about not fitting into a pair of jeans because of it.
Also I’d say levis has the same problem for some women since the difference between waist and hips is minimal in all sizes and they’re also a little narrow in the back area. But for me they’re perfect! 😅

i love the zara mom jeans they are my favorite jeans it made me sad to hear they don’t fit others as well as they fit me but obviously we’re all different! i have a bigger butt and a slight difference between my hips and waist but they fit perfect just loose enough around the waist that i feel like i can eat without popping the buttons lol😂

I got the fendi mini mama baguette and I’ve had nearly no issues with sagging as it’s not as long and tall! My everyday items perfectly fill it out and give it shape. They’re a little harder to find than the mama but so worth it

A very useful Tip when buying from Zara, specially jeans, the tag on the clothes has a square, triangle, or circle.
    🔽=a smaller sized than advertised
⏹= the exact size as advertised
    ⏺=a Geiger sized than advertised

    • @teresac893
      @teresac893 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

This is a myth perpetuated on TikTok. The symbols actually denote the collections - not sizes. Circle = Woman / Square = Basic / Triangle = TRF. This is to make it easier to merchandise in store as things are grouped by collection.

I will say, I feel you on the Zara jeans thing, but I still buy from their site because I have a Zara near me so it's very easy to return. Basically my little rule with online shopping for new clothes is that it has to be easily returnable or it has to be in person. Food for thought

Thanks for being so open and honest. I do hate the Zara looks on myself too, it’s so true that their sizing is off. I do regret getting a lot of sweaters at the thrift store just because I really wanted to buy something unique. I try to sell the pieces on Vinted so it’s fine. But I hope I’ll learn what to pass on soon haha I’m 5ft2 so most pieces I get are just way too big and make me look even shorter

Love this video I think we all do this. Regarding the Fendi bag if you take it to a leather shoe repair shop they can properly carefully fix the bag so that you can get a lot more money when you resell it I would not take it to a normal tailor I would take it to a leather shoe repair place. And I agree Zara sizing is absolutely crazy all over the place somethings I can fit XS Other things size large won’t even fit me it’s weird!!!

I didn't get my first job till two years ago so no one ever told me to save my money properly and I used to go through my pay checks buying random stuff I really didn't need until recently...I go through phases where I'm really good about not spending my paycheck or not spending it on stupid purchases and then I will lol. Once you graduate and get out of hs, no one rlly teaches you like responsibility about your purchases and etc. I've bought really dumb purchases like these boots from Dolls Kill-I know now they are a terrible brand who supports things they shouldn't and rips people off-I never even wore and my family made fun of me for them...I also bought boots like Ariana Grande style and I never wore them either....I also bought items I didn't need for my room...But lately I have been trying to save up my money, buy only what I need, get rid of items that are just sitting there, and if I do buy something ask myself "Will I really wear this? Or use this? What purpose does it serve in my life?" etc. I still love thrifting but I'm trying to teach myself I don't need an item even though it looks cool but instead how it can be useful to me in my life.

I’m 6ft without shoes and honestly I think I can speak for a lot of tall girls when I say that it’s a BIG insecurity of mine, especially with heels on. Totally relate to being too tall in heels but like, maybe add a lil comment about 6ft being nice as well…I guess it’s more of a thought but still

    • @michelle7455

It sucks that society doesn't celebrate tall girls the way it celebrates tall guys. Tall women are so gorgeous to me and tons of other people! You look graceful, elegant, and powerful at the same time! I hope you learn to love your height. Remember, people who make comments like Laini did are speaking from their own insecurities, which don't actually have anything to do with you.
