It’s pronounced “Kanock”, all one word, and means ‘mountain’ in Scottish Gaelic. Thanks so much for the honest review!

“Floppy bladder” sounds like a good trail name.

Thank you for this thorough review! I've just received my Vesica along with a Katadyn BeFree, so am still in the testing stages.
To me, however, the obvious place to grasp the bottle if you need to drink directly from it is the rigid area near the mouth, not the floppy middle. You still need the other hand to support the flop as the bottle empties, but that's why we have two hands, I guess!

my vesica is in the mail to me now. got the befree filter and what drew me to this bottle was the silly rope attached to it.

Just purchased two myself. Trying to cut down on my use of disposable plastic. I am interested to see what it is like getting these in and out out my backpack. Thanks for the review! Love your takes on ultralight gear.

Thanks for sharing this Bungzy. Main thing for me is getting away from a decaying hormone leeching single use plastic dirty water squeeze bottle. Thought you might have mentioned that aspect. This is made from tpu I believe, which should be much better. I wonder what the hard plastic top and bottom are made out of though? I hope it’s polypropylene, which seems to have the best track record in heat resilience and non leeching.

Thanks for the review. Looks like a great dirty water option. Ordered and interested to see if I start leaving my vecto home. I like my water on the shoulder straps so leaving the filter attached prob still isn’t an option for me (too tall).

Hmmm, this kind of turns a Sawyer into a BeeFree, sort of.

Thanks Bungzy! I was wondering how this thing was supposed to be used.

I’m trying out chemical treatments at the moment, but if I end up back with Sawyer I’ll definitely give this a shot. Looks really interesting.

Excellent. I trust CNOC to make a durable product.

Another issue the Vesica would solve is that on a long hike, if you don't change it out, a smartwater type bottle will start breaking down and leaking nasty, cancer causing chemicals into your water.

I love these reviews: I did think I would like it until 4:34 but I’m not sure it would be so easy to put back in my side pocket when done.

Interesting. I wonder what configuration might be good with using a bidet. Could be be unwieldy. Wouldnt want to use dirty water as well....

could always pack a small water bottle you transfer water into for the bidet. or if you keep a spare smart bottle for extra water anyway.

How do they work getting into side pockets? Looking for a replacement to smart water bottles, as well as encouraging others. Do the squeezable bottles go into the side pockets well?

Pro: it's easy to squeeze water out.
Con: it's easy to squeeze water out.

How hard/easy is it to fill from shallow or standing water? This is one big issue I had with the Evernew bags: they would form a vacuum and be next to impossible to fill...

I'm months late but why not just use the bottle cap that comes with the sawyer kit since it's a push pull cap?

Anyone know how to get rid of the horrid plastic taste. Tried bicarbonate of soda, lemon juice. In the freezer. Used it today had to throw the clean water away because of the taste.

  • @janefreeman4121

.... Wonder about cleaning it as well... Even if its the dirty water bottle... Could get really gross.
