    Great video!
    For others watching, be careful with the description of what part of the tongue is touching which part of the reed. It sounds very close to anchor tonguing. I don't think Selin is necessarily anchoring tonguing, but based on the description it would be easy to start anchor tonguing if you aren't careful.
    That being said, anchor tonguing isn't the worst thing in the world, and as with everything, it is about finding a way that works for you so you can consistently and confidently sound the way that you want, and do the things the music requires.

    Hello, I love your way of playing the stacato, since I've been following you in your videos, I've been getting the double stacato with the clarinet in Eb, which is much more difficult than Bb...I don't know how to speak English, but for your way of expressing yourself by touching I understand you... thank you very much. Greetings.👏👏👏👍😘😘

    Hi, thank you so much, finally I can tongue much better, but I notice that for this kind of embouchure (for using the part of the tongue you showed, and for me this is better than tip of the tongue because I can keep the distance lower between tongue and reed) for me I have to have much more mouthpiece in my mouth and with a closer tip I squeak a lot on higher notes because on closer tip and shorter rail mouthpieces you are supposed to keep less mouthpiece in your mouth. So I have thus question for you: wich mouthpiece you discovered be more suitable for your embouchure and for your tonguing?

    Thank you very much! I always thought I've been doing something wrong because I didn't use exactly the tip of my tongue.
    But I have a question. You told to "touch" the reed and not to do it strongly to avoid a slapping sound. But in the exercise at the end for the attacks, didn't you have exactly a kind of sound in this direction?
    I don't want to criticize but I would like to understand. So thank you for an explanation :)

      You’re welcome. But no, it’s not the same thing at all. What I mean by slapping sound is to hear the note below (harmonics) especially when high notes played + the tongue sound. Here we can hear clearly the note and nothing else

    Hello, how often you get new reeds? What do you do with your old, long played reeds? I use a box of 10 v12 3.5 reeds since February and most now they're sounding with a lot of air when playing, 2-3 still playing very good, should I get a new box???

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Georgia. I don’t change reeds easily. It takes 1.5 month usually. I use number 3 and when it’s dead I just trash it. If there’s a lot of air in the sound I guess that those reeds are too hard for you

    • @jimis3167
      @jimis3167 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ 3.5 is exactly the right size for my mouthpiece(BD5), they were playing better and now I suspect It's probably time to get a new box...
