I always hung around the older crowd that was at my dads garage and went with them to local bars and all this kind of music was on the jukebox,,,some of the best times ever,,,young,,,had it made and didn’t know it
July 4,1975 - 1-19-2023 Even I First Meet My Husband, My Frist Cousin set up on a Double Day. Here I am an Innocent 18 yr and We Go to a Road Side Bar. It was Love at First SITE for both of Us. And this was Our Song with Our First Dance. Two Months Later Engaged & 5 Months Later. Married. Almost 46 yrs when I Lost My Bobby. Our Home is So Lonesome without Him.
OMG I remember this song in the 1966 version. I was young & just loved this song. Had the 'record',, could not hear it enough times on our Houston Texas radio stations.
@@rikdun69 This song was released in 1966 by a Louisiana rock group lead by Joe Stampley. It only went as high as #78 on the charts. Joe re-released it in 1976 as a country single with a different tempo and it soared to #1 on the country charts.
I began driving over the road trucks back in the day when trucking was fun. CBs were the rage, trucking songs were all over the radio. Joe Stamply got me revved up and kept me awake many a night. Songs like, All These Things, Roll On Big Mama, Do You Ever Fool Around, ect. Even today I can hear that Cummins engine start up at the beginning of Roll On Big Mama, and I'm transported back to the mid 70's again, to that young man, searching for adventure, driving his own truck around the country, seeing the places he had dreamed of in his mind for as long as he had remembered. Those days are gone forever, but they still live in my mind with these songs I listen to on TH-cam. Thank you Joe for the many memories.
I'm a hardcore Metal Head, but I grew up listening to old country, in the 80s Thanks grampa this is real country, not that pop crap out there now. Awesome!!!
@Anonymous 101 I have seen Joe Stampley and the Uniques and at that time it was Top 40 music kind of like Kenny Rogers a.nd the First edition. So jerkwad get a life. I like Joe Stampley
By the way as you call him Billy Ray Sour Puss Cyrus sucks. Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and kris Kristofferson are country and by the way kiss my A$$. Worthless
Boy howdy! Im on your side Hater of Stupidity. Moe, Joe, Marty, Hank and Lefty is where its at. Not the weirdos who think their country nowadays. I bet most of em dont bathe more than once a month.
Ya know it's a great 70s memory when it's on 8-track! My Dad had a membership to Columbia House, got some great music that became the soundtrack to my youth. Good times!
I'm a Metal Head, and a professional drummer whose played death and Doom metal but I grew up listening to country as well. The golden age of country. I miss those school mornings growing up in the 80s my mom taking my sister and I to school playing these songs. Great times. This song brings back so many memories of my grandparents too, it makes me cry sometimes because they're gone, and I miss those times of working with my grandfather after school, always learning something new. That guitar solo just cuts right through me. Just brings back bitter sweet memories. I remember my dad telling me to take all of those times in, because a time would come where I would miss them. I miss those times so much right now.
I love Joe Stampley. My husband and I fell in love to "All These Things" (Paula Records) in 1966. Listen to it every weekend when husband was home on leave from Ft. Polk. Still listening 48 years later. Best singer to ever come out of our home state of Louisiana!
God the awesome memories of listening to this song standing up in the front seat of my mom's 1976 Pontiac driving down the hwy. This is pure nostalgia. Didn't have to wear seat belts back then lol
Just stumbled upon this song accidentally...Haven't heard this song since 1976..! My mom used to sing along to this in the kitchen on the country radio station. Thanks for the memories..!
I played in a band who fronted for Joe . He invited me on to his bus to meet his wife. They were two of the nicest people I have ever met in the entertainment business !
This is one of Joe's best ever. I know a lady like this, but I cannot be with her. Rips me to the bone...As Whitney Houston stated, "I wanna dance with someone who loves me." I will keep on trying.
Pa was a hard worker and a hard drinker. From age four on I was with him when not in school. We frequented many bars. This is the first song I ever remember hearing.
I wanted to play rock and roll as a radio d.j. but instead had to settle for my first job playing country music at KKOK in Lompoc, Calif. in the mid 1970s. It was then that I fell in love with country music from that period to about the early 80s. Anyway singers like Joe Stampley, Eddie Rabbitt, Willie Nelson, Loretta, Dolly, George Jones, Merle, and all those from the late 50s through the point I told you about, I loved 'em 'as they touched my soul. Bob Smith Los Angeles
Really weird, this song was around for a long time And for a Louisiana music lover like me, it probably sounds like heresy, it was originally by Art Neville, whom I loved, but this is the one. All previous versions were so slow they sounded like intros that never got on into songs. And when Joe picked up the tempo just so much, he gave the song new life,
For me personally, the BIG 3 of true cpuntry music singers of that era (probably my favorite one) Moe Bandy, Joe Stampley and Johnny Rodriguez. True Country!
@@beckylawler2768 I did, too! Those were good times. We took care of each other and had fun, but we never left anybody behind like these kids today. Bicentennial class!
Omgosh....talk about forgetting old songs that were GREAT!!! How could we forget THIS ONE!!! Oh, I loved this song and danced to it many times, even around my apt when cleaning..lol. Found this by accident, but so VERY HAPPY I did!! Some of the artis today need to go back to "Country Singing School" & be made to listen to 50s thru 80s Country Music so they can start popping out some good music today & good dancing melodies. This was a great two-step/waltz type....just AWESOME!! THANKS for the Memories!!
It's just recently I came across this song.I heard him in 1977 with "I'm gonna love you back again"and that song meant the world to me way back then.Take a bow Joe at 80.God bless you
Met Joe in Corpus Christi years ago. Definitely one of the greats. Very cool and approachable with all smiles. This is real country music the way it used to be. 🎼🎶
I'm listening to this in memory of my parents,I miss y'all so much.

The all time best love song
This is my favourite song - just love Joe
I love this picture of Joe
I always hung around the older crowd that was at my dads garage and went with them to local bars and all this kind of music was on the jukebox,,,some of the best times ever,,,young,,,had it made and didn’t know it
Sadly the bar music has changed for the most part. I don’t see how anybody can drink to the crap they play today.
Making memories each and everyday of our lives ❤️
ME TOO!! I hung with my older sisters. Went to all the bars. Haha didn't look my age. I had the best times of my life!!
I used to do same thing,I’m 45

Yes it is KathyLangley
Stampley's best song he ever recorded. Always loved hearing it being played on the radio back in the day.
True but this you tube version is different from the album… wish I could find it somewhere exactly as it is here.
I hope it doesn't end up being that. because you should always have something to top, right?
Well, if you ever find this version on an album please share, I’ve looked and looked and only find the original cut which is not like this at all…
This guy Stampley kicks some serious ass
I especially like his mash-up w/ 2 Live Krewe bach in da day.
