Good review. I've seen a lot of reviews i dont agree with, mostly from the bigger TH-camrs driven by money, but this one is good and honest. Not the best headphone. Aune AR5000 totally smokes it.
Interesting: the cables that go into the cans are only TS (tip/sleeve) and not TRS (tip/sleeve/ring), so they are unbalanced. Which kind of makes the TRRRS Pentaconn balanced connector a bit of a farce. I doubt that at this price point they truly "un-balance" the input somewhere in that mini connector, they probably just skip some of the contacts. So balanced connector, but unbalanced signal.
This is incorrect. Headphones do not have a ground on each side for balanced connection. There is only L+- and R+-. If a headphone has more than 2 connectors on each side then one of those connectors is not being used. Headphone balanced is NOT the same as 3 pin XLR interconnect balanced.
Thank you for the great review! The accessories supplied is really good.
hifiman qc issues making me choose ft5...i can eq it anyway if i dont like the sound
Oh dear. Don't waste your time. Just buy an Aune AR5000. Much better than this Fiio.
Thank you for a great review as always😊
Nicely made review, thank you!

I need to check that one out. Probably at CanJam!
✋
For a bit more money there is the SJY Audio Horizon.
its more interesting for sure
For a bit less money there is the Aune AR5000 which is a lot better than this.
Better for relaxing music than a Beyerdynamic 1990?
It's very average for all music. Nothing special.

so it looks like they made failed approach to full sized planars, too expensive for its performance
Yes, a good try but a long way short of other cheaper headphones I own.
Ryan Dietz, the creator of the Mod House Audio headphones?? :o
Just kidding, Ryan. ;)
I almost didn't want to like that, but you saved it by the "just kidding" remark.
