I ordered one as soon as they were available this past weekend. I'm super stoked for it even though I don't particularly care too much for anime. I watched Voltron as a kid, but that's about it. The color theme and UI are what made me buy it. I will be looking out for your review! 💯

I ordered one of these the INSTANT they were available. Been looking to upgrade my Activo CT10, and I was going to get a Hiby R3 II. But then they announced this... And it was a match made in heaven. I'm a HUGE Eva Fan. I'm already looking at cables that are purple and green to color match my setup.

But that it’s something they would be interested in doing if the owners of the EVA IP approve it. The normal Hiby R4 comes in other colors, but it won’t have this awesome UI or the extra RAM/Storage and the more efficient amp.
Beautiful! Been a fan of Evangelion going on 25 years... My first anime was Kimba in '66 ...then Speed Racer and Marine Boy.. way too many titles watched by now to list all.
I got a good deal on an open box r4 but I could see the extra RAM in this edition being worth the upgrade for someone that doesn't have one already. I bet you they'll have an R4 Pro or something after this.
The EVANGELION collabs have always been really excellent, built a pc with collab parts under same name! The purple and green theme looks even better in person! Very cool!
Aesthetically it's one of the most beautiful DAPs I've seen. I'm wondering though if the OS is a heavily reskinned Android... Not a huge fan of Android DAPs...
The orange slider on top is both a lock or user assignable. Class A amp makes it a bit toasty in the pocket according to reviews (and the battery life is not the best). Cool color combo though for this one - reminds me of Jack Nicholson's Joker! That strap goes through the top slit of the R4 for "easy carry" ...
It seems that a dap like this would be very convenient to use, I just am curious as to how practical they are to carry around for everyday use as I normally just use my cell phone and a small dongle?
The tempotec v6 was the first one to break through the price barrier for a fully modern well featured android dap. This is the next step. They are only going to get cheaper and better but we need competitive products.
Looking forward to hear how it performs. The regular version got really good reviews so it'll be interesting to hear how the special features on this one perform IRL. Wish there was a Hiby dealer in my neck of the woods to try this one and the FD5 out.

I've been wanting this since seeing the charging or loading hex countdown situation. I haven't watched much anime in years, but will always love Eva and they got me with that.
40% more efficient but performs just as good because it was bleeding the pretty substantial 4500mah battery too fast for what it was doing. Something was wrong, too much unnecessary resistance and overheating ensued causing excessive battery drain. Evangelion now runs cooler so a more efficient A-class amp, and resulting battery usage.
I have an original release R4. I like it alright. I prefer my iBasso dx180 or dx260 more, but for a fun kik around DAP and something I'm good to travel with the R4 is great, especially if you're into streaming.
The R4 is good value for money. Close in price to the m300, but much better at $50 more, this takes it to $120 more. Seahawks fans will love the color scheme
Story time: when I sold a pair of iems that I had ordered one time, the person I sold them to showed up with a dap and I was super impressed. One day I'll be that guy.

i was considering getting this for my upcoming trip, loved the R4 when they announced it and just new this collab was coming lol ended up getting the M300 for its size mostly but absolutely love it
Mine arrived today and while I love your videos, so far this thing is a very expensive paperweight as I have not spent the last year in an Android concentration camp, so I'm just lost at the moment. For starters I simply want to connect to my WiFi network and as I have zero Android knowledge, so that's not happening. Oh well, I will screw around with it until either it works or it goes into my drawer of Dead Stuff I Own. By the way your video doesn't connect to a part two, it takes me to some other guy talking about this unit and frankly his video totally sucks. Anyway, keep up the good work and hopefully I will actually get this thing to work for me. It's not broken, I am. Ha!

From time to time, products emerge that are inspired by this anime, for example, Asus launched a full PC configuration last year, which I thought was pretty cool. This DAP looks pretty good too, but the only criticism I have is that it could have used an OLED display instead of IPS.
I love the colors of this Evangelion collab unit! Hope they also make an Asuka (red/orange/green) version and Rei (White/Blueish purple/Red) version. Man the colors are 🔥

I like the color scheme. I've never seen the anime this collab is based upon; but, I'm not sure it matters. This Hiby DAP unironically looks sporty with the green and purple. I'll always associate this look with the Utah Jazz.
I just have never got passed taking two phone size things over one phone and a very good dongle! I have the iBasso DC Elite and just don't know if a player is going to make it better???
You know the Final Audio x Eva TWS were cool, but they still had that toy-ish look to them. This on the other hand, this is certified Evangelion construction
Evangelion is a pretty old anime unless it has been redone recently that I am not aware of, is popular on Netflix I believe. Nice that it has a custem UI.
Heard about the show but never watched. This dap got me interested in watching it seeing how in the comments a lot of people seem to lile the show. Wondering if the sound/ power output of this version is different from the regular version or is it just custom buttons/ skin. Thanks for showing us.
Whoa! I was just looking at this special version of the R4 last night on their website. I think the $50 extra over the base model might be worth it in this case (in terms of specs) but the colors are a bit much for me haha.

The non-Evangelion HiBy R4 DAP runs Android 12. I think it's safe to assume this unit is Android too.

read the tuning is different. does it sound different from the regular r4? especially the soundstage. narrower?

Better battery life because of an optimized amp, 64gb of storage compared to 32gb, 4gb of ram compared to 3gb on the normal one and custom os theme.
