This song reminds me of when my parents use to take us fishing at 5 in the morning almost every weekend back in 1990. They would play their tape and this was one of my favorite songs. Now that they both passed away and my lil baby brother, I’m trying to keep the tradition alive with my kids..
I used to be ashamed to have my parents nearby when they would play these songs. It embarrassed me, as I was young. It was until I got to my 30s that I finally started giving these old tracks a listen - and boy, I was in love with all things old school about Cambodian art and music. I want to thank my parents for listening to their music. If it wasn’t for them, I would have never gotten into it.
Me too. These days I'm trying to get in touch with the culture ever since my mom passed down a beautiful painting of angkor wat to me. I even make khmer food now because there's just nothing like it out there.
