If you look under the hood the last game was the best from ND in terms of passing. Leonard was actually staying in the pocket and going through reads and delivering the ball. The first quarter was not good but the rest was much better. Can they keep it up against a better Louisville defense? Who knows.
I was worried until I watched you guys. You’ve been so horribly wrong about ND even when you pick em to win. Now I’m confident they’ll win. Weird to say.
Riley Leonard isn’t the answer, and never was the answer. From day one of Leonard’s announcement to transfer, I was simply baffled as to why Freeman would even consider bringing him in. RL had a good 2022 season, but was just an average passer. Then in 2023, he plays the first five games and gets hurt as the game with ND ends. Through those games he has 3 touchdown passes and 1 interception, and completed just 44% of his passes against ND. After the injury he added 2 more interceptions to finish the season with 3 and 3. So after demonstrating that he was an above average runner who could sometimes throw in 2022, but who declined massively the following season and couldn’t throw, Freeman decides he is the answer for a team that has one of the best groups of running backs in the country? Really? RL is a good runner, there’s no question about that. But what I am seeing after four games against perhaps the weakest part of their schedule is a quarterback with no confidence who can’t lead his team. The star running backs aren’t getting the touches they deserve because the coaching staff has to dilute the play calling and coddle their senior quarterback. The receivers are looking annoyed as well because they are getting open, but their quarterback can’t consistently get them the ball in space. I think you guys are right on the money. Unless ND can provide a balanced attack, Louisville will simply load the box to stop the run, then confuse the heck out of Riley on 3rd down as he is forced to try and throw, which could prove very challenging for ND. The potential good news for that is if Louisville is winning at halftime, or if Riley has a particularly bad first quarter, I think Freeman will be forced to bring in Steve. That will provide Notre Dame with considerably more options on offense, and may prove challenging for Louisville as Steve throws very well, and Louisville will then have to respect the pass. This game is Notre Dame‘s season. A win, and they are technically still alive. A loss, and their playoff hopes are over. If that happens, there is no longer any reason to keep Riley at quarterback, because the reason he was brought in in the first place is no longer a possibility. This could be the game of the year.
Marcus Freeman has got a really big decision to make about the quarterbacks because I don't think we are going to make the playoffs with Riley Leonard as quarterback. If he can't throw more than 12 yards down the field and he keeps going in front and behind the receiver something's wrong. Change the quarterback
Riley's gotta start getting better in the short passing game. He started to show a little in longer passes last week. There's no way Riley is that bad in shorting passing. He's got to improve. But yeah, I've been saying for weeks that I want to see Angeli getting a few series during each game just to provide some comparison. ND finds a way to win. They play better against better teams.
These guys want ND to lose so badly 😂 they all picked against ND when they played A&M and ended up getting burned. Give me the Irish at home by 10. Leonard throws for two TD’s and rights the ship ☘️
I think it’s hilarious that people are not looking at what both of these teams done so far not to mention what happened last year. Ville handled everybody they’ve played and I don’t think Notre Dame will be any different. Should be close, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Louisville ran off with it
Totally agree. If ND wins out, they should make the playoffs easily and ranked top 10 at least. They're already around 16-17 in rankings. Not far to go.
Riley Leonard can’t hit 5 yard throws and the team is still making the same mistakes that we had assumed freeman would fix in year 3. I think Louisville wins by 10.
I saw some of those throws a lot of those weren't his fault; you guys are used to seeing guys like Claypool, Finke, Maier, Austin, Lenzy, and Boynkin catching the ball. They aren't there anymore.
I rewatched the Louisville GT game and by all accounts GT should’ve won the game. They shot themselves in the foot several times: turning the ball over on downs on the 1 yd line, 2 botched FG attempts; one of which was blocked and returned for a TD. Everything went wrong for GT and they were still very much in that game. I think Notre Dame gets it done against Louisville but I would not be surprised at all if GT beats them in a few weeks.
Everything went wrong for GT??? Officials hounded Louisville and put us in the worst field position when they allowed the timeout after the snap and made us start at their 1yd line, which resulted in the safety (with the help of our RB lol). Regardless, Saturday will be a great game.
@@GavinSizemore resulted in a safety, yes, but that still a TD off the board for them plus that FG attempt that was blocked and returned for a TD . . . Sounds like a shitty day at the office for me. lol

In fact it took a blocked field goal return for TD and a fumble recovery in end zone to preserve a victory. Louisville has played only one good opponent, Georgia Tech, which they barely defeated.
