@@nunoportela8571 tbh illmatic isnt even top 5 for me, its close but like theres far better projects like tpab, madvilliany, mbdtf, the money store, atrocity exhibition, piñata (top 5 best produced and great in about everything else), liquid swords, hell id say that supreme clientele is better as well. illmatic would be better if it had more concept though, it excels in like everything and has a top 10 oat song with ny state of mind but i feel like theres better
It really is a cinematic odyssey for the streets. It feels like a movie from Kendrick's perspective. A duality to the playlike feel of To Pimp a Butterfly.
All of Kendrick’s albums have a certain theme or a different concept but they all seem to sort of connect in a way. For instance: Section 80 is like a book GKMC is like a movie TPAB is like a poem DAMN. is like a magazine MM&TBS is like a stage/play.
Ill always associate this incredible album to such a happy time in my life. 2nd yr at UNT uni. GKMC was everywhere. The bars played it. People vibed to it. Everyone was talking the album. It really changed the rap game. Incredible storytelling is possible with hip hop while also being mainstream and accessible to wide audiences. Awesome work! You brought out some good memories
I remember this album came out around the time I moved to California and it was literally the soundtrack of my life for that year. An album that brings nostalgia and self-reflection to the forefront.
As a creative, I know it's at times difficult to keep going with things. I want you to know that I truly enjoy these wonderful works of art you take the time to plan out and put together so well! I also hope you know that just like the great artist you are so careful to select and review, you are making a great name for yourself in history! Whenever I see you upload a video, I'm hyped as if one my favorite music artist put out an album! Keep going! You have a true talent and you never disappoint! I always look forward to your work! I pray more doors open for you in life and you reach the max of your talent! It's a shame there won't be anyone as good as you to review your lifes work one day! Lol God bless man!
Omg ever since finding ur page...I've been wanting you to make one for this specific album. Thank you so much 😭😭😭 Honestly one of my favourite album of all time.
My favorite Kendrick album, it’s my second favorite album this decade, I always listen to it at least once every two months. Great analysis, I truly appreciate the work and effort you put into this videos.
An incredible album, accompanied by an amazing video. As usual, you did a fantastic job and we really can't stress this enough. The production quality you have on some of these videos is mesmerizing! Please do continue on with other Kendrick projects, as I am sure they will be appriciated my many!
Good Kid M.A.A.D. City will always be my favorite hip-hop album, as well as one of my favorite albums overall. Be it the fact that I was a freshman in high school when the album dropped and the context of the music spoke to me on a deeply personal level, or the fact that the album is simply a special piece of work needn’t be spoken for. Regardless of the reason, Kendrick Lamar created a masterpiece that has forever defined an era. 💯✊🏽
Not a single dislike yet.your videos are just so well made, the introductions to the albums, your background knowledge...Im always happy when you upload, especially when its about the greatest ever and my favourite rapper
Sir, you are a genius storyteller!!! The way you break these albums down, song by song, the beat structures, is mind blowing to me!! This is the kind of stuff I live for!!! I love music so much and learning the backstories to these great artists and their work is heaven to me. Thank you sir!! I hope you do this kind of thing with R&B albums because there are quite a few I’d like you to do what you do about. #Salute!!!!
Man you just skipped to number one as my favorite channel right now...thank you for this upload..haven’t even watched yet but I know it’s gonna be flames
What about the last line of the whole album." mamma imma barrow the car be back in 15 min!" such a clever way to close the album cause it really the beginning of the whole story. Kendrick is the truth.
Good kid maad city is now the longest standing Hip-hop album on the billboard 200 in history. Just beat eminems record with "the Eminem show". 6+ years later it's still in the top 150. Really speaks to the quality of the album
One of the best albums of the decade, shocking how it lost to Macklemore's album in the Grammy's
Fuck the Grammy's. They're notorious for doing shit like that. Still can't believe Astroworld lost to Cardi B's album.
lean. And Daytona
I still remember how apologetic Mackle was for that, lmao
Cus White man and not so controversial
Kasia Adnan The Grammys have always been a popularity contest. At the time Macklemore was huge. It’s the same reason why cardi won over Mac Miller.
Good Kid, m.A.A.d City is the Illmatic of our generation
Deejay Surge I'd say gkmc is better tbh, Illmatic is a 9.4 and GKMC is a 9.5. But TPAB is better than both for sure, easy 10/10

Right, I’ve always thought that TPAB sounds like an elaborate stage show, and GKMC is like a movie

That background music is fire. Great job on this💯
Pharrell is on the hook of “GOOD KID” easily one of the best songs

You're doing amazing work breaking down the most iconic albums
>that guy who only knows Pharrell Williams from Happy and Blurred Lines
Sam Hyde yeah, he’s been around for a while. He’s the reason why every hip hop song in the 2000’s had a bop to it.
First time I ever heard Pharrell was from NERD and then the first time I heard him featured on a song and figured out his name was Snoop’s “Beautiful”
