Duff is THE BEST!!!!!! I will never forget his performance on the last GnR gig in London - he was posing for pictures on stage so people could get good shots with their cameras - all for fans joy. He's my favourite GnRer, such a great guy!!! :D :D :D Thanks Duff!! :D
Duff is such a cool guy. Met him and Gilby prior to the Hard Rock casino opening in Vegas back in the 90s. He is one of the most underrated bass players. In my opinion, he's one of the best bass players in the world. Just break down GNR songs and listen to his bass parts...totally insane!!!

Learn Duffs intro lines to the beginning of sweet child. Such tasteful, relaxing riffs underneath slash’s audio carnival. And then that bump and grind feel throughout is so groovy. I love his and Adlers playing on Rocket Queen as well!
Duff's SCOM intro is the best part of the song! Slash's riff is tattooed into everyone's brain but Duff's emotional yearning bassline is the real star.

Yea, it sucked when everyone split, but they made some great music while together. Still have never seen them, got fucked out of 600 bucks at Rockville, trying to see them last year, was so excited about it... Axl's voice just isn't the same though and I'm really not feelin that new song they released.
Axl was a bit of a control freak that drove people away. For me Appetite was their best. I liked LIES as well. But wasn't fussed on Illusions. That's the angle AXL wanted to take the band. But one thing Axl maybe innocent of is being late or holding up the show being 2 hours late. He maybe suffering from high iron causing fatigue. I didn't know I had it or what was wrong with me for decades. So I wondered that about Axl

A lot of bands went to LA for the scene there in the 80’s and not all of those bands were from LA they were from all over the country to get noticed, Hence the saying “ If I’m gonna be a big star, I better go to LA/Hollywood”

Appetite for Destruction showed the band was not playing around. Axl “being afraid of no man” added a layer to that seriousness. Love the new song Perhaps. Saw GNR in KC in 2017, and in 2 weeks I am taking my son to the St. Louis show. 🤘🏻
I was at the show May1988 Vancouver when Iton Maiden Fired GNR. Dickinson came out and challenged Axl 2 a fist fight. I think Iron Maiden was just jealous and knew they were gonna have a hard time impress us after GNR opened. A month later GNR was all over the Radio etc. I was blessed too catch the last GNR show before they had any money or food. They were so Raw and Broke . Ha . it was truly Magical
That's the theory I had about musicians from the UK and Ireland. They pump out good music because they have tons of time to work on it because of the weather.
I set up equipment for concerts in scranton, and when walking papers was with rockstar energy tour, I was setting up duffs gear for about an hour, he was hanging around, still to this day, I wish I got a picture of it. 😑
It's worth remembering the reason Guns had trouble getting signed wasn't that everyone who saw them agreed they'd be the biggest band in the world, it's just that they thought they'd never live to actually accomplish that.
I really hope Axl would instead do a surprise talk like this soon. Even though it was nice, I don't particularly like the press conference he did after the return. Wish "The General, Going Down and Crash Diet" comes along with the new album's track list.
Was in line getting beer at a 1993 Sonic playoff game. Duff and Kim were in line right in front of us. Duff could hardly speak he was so fucked up. I'm not exaggerating. I'm not sure how he got served. They did indulge us asking stupid questions, though.
Despite the fact that Axl was a jerk and that he looks like a grandma today Appetite for Destruction is one of the best rock albums of all time. Up there with White Album, Nevermind, Led zeppelin etc

There were half a dozen or so other dudes and a different band name before the "original" lineup came together. Plus, there's just a certain 'flavor' he brings to the songwriting. You can hear it by listening to solo Slash and then listening to Duff's solo LP.

Appetite for Destruction was awesome. Never cared for anything from them after that. It was like Michael Jackson and Thriller. He couldn't top it.
Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 are amazing albeit not completely raw hard rock albums like Appetite was.
They had some good singles after Appetite, but no album came close.
