I have window wide 48 inch and a very sturdy wood cart(shelf). Can i put the whole u-shape rest on this cart; cut the wood to fill the gap between the unit and window frame(about 29 inch wide). Since I have vinyl window in all around frame, I do not want to drill, screw…to the window frame or windowsill. The unit is very difficult to install in my vinyl window, the bracket is even aligned with the windowsill. The bracket will bend if I put the bracket on the window frame, I will have to put something underneath the window to make the bracket higher….

My window is 45” wide. Can I just install the 2 screws near the unit but not the at the ends of the extension arm?

I don’t need to use the extension arm on one side, if I don’t need to, correct?
