This year’s winter in Yunnan is particularly cold. My family killed the pig early in order to have the annual pig feast early and feel the happiness of the Spring Festival in advance. Dishes for the annual pig feast are stir-fried parts of the pig, which are fresh and quickly cooked. The dishes are pretty much the same at every house, but they taste different. This year, I’ve had the annual pig feast of 20 families. Life in the village is really simple and happy, except that I guess I’ve gained some weight again.

I’m a Muslim but I’ve learned a lot from u.. I’ve tried some of your recipes.. instead of pork(which we couldn’t eat as muslim) I switched to chicken or beef🤗 overall.. your video is really amazing.. watching your culture and scenery calms me❤
Hope that work's out for you. A lot of Muslim people i know secretly eat pork & alcohol. And a lot of Hindus who eat beef. So lot's of culprits there lol. Who is to say who is better. Have your priorities right & just live your life. I'm a Hindu however don't really like pork. But i find these videos soothing. I don't judge just love the atmosphere.

@@S_Heavens yeah.. unfortunately some does secretly eat pork and drink alcohol.. i don’t judge people either.. still trying to be a better person for myself🤗
@@S_Heavens I can confirm my brother in law was guilty of consuming the latter until he had some sort of spiritual awakening and stopped drinking for religious reasons. You've got the right mindeset, imho, which is very respectable and commendable.

I kind of felt bad for this pig, he seemed friendly. Oh well; RIP, piggie, you nourished a lot of people.
Me too. It had a great personality. I absolutely respect that this pig was treated well, lived a far better life than in our factory farms here, and not a scrap was wasted; but it’s still a bit sad. Such is the circle of life.

Aww look at those little cute piglets :( I'm not vegan/vegetarian but seeing the reality of the animals getting slaughtered for food makes me think if I should stop, or at least, cut down on eating meat. Beautiful dishes and I love the community spirit! It is lost in so many places around the world. Thank you for another beautiful glimpse into your everyday life.
I love the camaraderie of these yearly festival videos, living in the states you don't see things like this anymore, what people actually come together like this and make meals. It's beautiful I wish We had more of that here
There are festivals every year in the states. April would be one of the best months because of multiple New Year celebrations.
@@WanderingAlone. Yeah they are expensive as hell and nothing like this. Just generic subpar over priced crap. Nothing nearly as fresh as this with fresh ingredients, made by family and community with love. That don't exist here in large scales maybe if you have the right family for it but that's rare too.
@havootusjourney If you ever have an interest. Temples accept volunteers, and usually, food prep and cooking is done communal.
Watching your pig feast video each year feels like a personal tradition by now. I have been watching your videos for years--since Ahao was just a small kid. Back then the videos didn't have much talking and focused more on the food and preparation. Now it's become a wholesome video of family and tradition and culture. So proud of what you have achieved, Dianxi!
I love seeing all of the renovations and improvements you are having done to your home and. Maybe once it's finished you can give us a tour. I love all of the wood work that has been added. It is quite beautiful. Wishing your family well.

да, я тоже вспомнила как в детстве в СССР это было, да в ноябре забивали свиней и делали заготовки на зиму, хорошие были времена

I love the pig feast videos the most. My family always raised and butchered our own pork, and when it was time, our extended family would gather and share in the work and the bounty. Ours was always in the autumn, and watching these takes me back to a wonderful time.

I love the festivals they’re my favorite♥️Everyone comes together and prepares the delicious dishes and decorations. Dawang is super strong, Apenji could barely hold him, mean while Laifu plays with Blacky. Everyone enjoying the dishes. It just broke my heart to see how that innocent pig was trusting you to take him where you wanted. And how at last he was licking Dawang. Like a friend. And how mercilessly he was killed. What is this world? What is the reward of trust of an innocent being?

Please understand it's necessary food for some people. What i can respect the most is that they utilize almost every part of the pig so that there's no waste. It's the most respectful way to treat a farm animal.
@@mswishwashstoning8450 while nature abounds in so many edible things- animals may not necessarily have to be a food item for anyone. In fact what we should eat- the nature has given the clear guideline to us by giving us a particular type of teeth structure. We have only four canines in total- unlike dogs, wolves, lions etc who don’t not have incisors like us which means flesh eating is prescribed for them by nature but for us- only to the bare minimum. But still seeing that animals also show feeling- the way he licked Dawang and the way Dawang was agitated when they were torturing the pig to kill it- shows that animals have feelings. And that’s what broke my heart. Not commenting on food habits
