There is no benefit in painting before construction, only when using stain, which will prevent the glue marks. Having said that, this is how I work, you can do it as you wish.
@@JulieWarren okay, so that makes sense now. The first one of these I did, I stained it. You can see where the stain didn't take because of the glue. the stain also loosened the glue, so I had to keep regluing it together. So, staining first prevents this?! I just thought it'd be easier to paint the pieces, prior to assembly. Thank you so much! I'm a relatively new patreon and love your videos and tutorials.

Hi, yes, you could use acrylic.
