I love the crunch the rose canes make, I love to watch rose fully flush out after being super pruned it’s so cool to watch the red foliage harden off to dark green
Excellent information!! I just received my first 2 Heirloom Roses and I am so excited to get them in the ground!! These plants are just beautiful, super healthy and packaged remarkably well 🥰
Love your videos! I appreciate you taking the time to make rose care more accessible. I'm revisiting this video to do my fall pruning now 😊 great info and straight to the point. Thanks!
Do you prune back climbing roses to that 2 ft height? And why does your article “Protect Roses for the Winter” say "Before winter arrives, be sure your roses: Have not been pruned, which would stimulate new growth in the winter." That completely contradicts what you say/do in this video.... I'm confused!
Hello! Good Questions, Here is a link to an article with more information on winterizing your roses. www.heirloomroses.com/info/protecting-roses-for-winter I hope this helps!
Hi, i need help here about my rose that i planted this summer. I bought a bareroot rose from walmart, they're floribonda, hybrid tea rose and bush rose. They're thriving and had tons of flowers and new stalks coming with flowers. Should i follow this steps or i need a different technique? Im here in MI 5a zone...
Hello! This is handy and quick definitely but wont it affect the overall appearance of a rose bush since many branches will grow inside , instead of out as you didnt cut them to outer bud?
Hello! Yes, here is a link to a follow-up video showing how to shape your rose after this less-detailed prune. I hope this helps! th-cam.com/video/0ZFRKz5rPME/w-d-xo.html
Hello, in the video, we pruned down the rose lightly to give it a more manageable shape in preparation for the spring. In the spring, we recommend doing a much more thorough pruning that will encourage new growth for your rose.heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/pruning?_gl=1*1ib9irb*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiA0rW6BhAcEiwAQH28ItqD3aKtHSRchAtULrXZQmaQO8fZQjID1-NaXrh_7mfEOTmPEvIJfRoCKH0QAvD_BwE
@ thank you Ben. I’d have never thought of cutting the branches down as I’ve been eager for my plants to grow. I have quite a few DA roses from heirloom roses and they are only about 6 months old and about 12 to 14 inches. I’m in zone 8. Do I still need to prune them.? If so how long will they take to grow and bloom?
I live on Eastcoast and winter here can be very brutal. Do I have to cover my roses with burlap after pruning and fungicide treatment? Please advice. Thank you....
Hi there! Our own-root roses are hardy and should last through harsh winters. Here's more information on winter care: heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/protecting-roses-for-winter
I can't see how a hedge trimmer is better than a sharp pair of loppers.. the cut ends of the canes were destroyed. Faster maybe but pretty destructive.
Thank you. I was freaking out what and how I should do it.
Would appreciate videos on those of us who experience 110+ degree summers as well if possible. 👍

Here in Israel the season of complete fine pruning has already started:)

Good question! yes, you can follow this technique for winterizing your rose.
Great advice for a shrub rose. What about climbers??
It is now December, I am in Indiana. Can I do this now? Will it hurt my roses?
I’m shocked. But maybe I will consider and will get some of that spray.

Why did you cut the rose bush? I m a few from HR and can’t wait for them to grow. It’s been 6 months and they have not grown much at all

Thank you a lot! From where i can get these sprays in sweden?
Hi, unfortunately we do not ship our products to Sweden. I would try your local garden center, or looking online.

Peat moss around the base?
Yes! Peat moss should work as an effective mulch.
