Lin Dan and LCW might be almost same at skill, LD was only a bit better, but LD was far better in confidence and in delivering under pressure as compared to LCW. LD never seemed to loose confidence.
Nevertheless, matches of these two was like a clash of titans scene.

That seems to be a reasonable assessment. However, I do think that confidence and skill are intimately connected. One reason Lin was so confident was because he knew that, at his best, Lee would not come close. You can get a taste of what I mean by watching the Beijing finals in 2008. It was only when Lin was a little off that Lee won or almost won. Lin's smash and net play were far superior. Not only that, but his ability to retrieve the shuttlecock from ridiculous positions was unparalleled.
