Welcome to our Local outline Material Tutorial!
We cover the process of creating a Local Outline material that we can apply to indivdual actors in our scene using the overlay material slot in UE5. :)
Warning: As we are using the Overlay material slot, this effect is exclusive to UE5 and unfortunatly can not be used in UE4 :(

Hey there!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm really glad you find the tutorials useful. All the best on your projects 😄
Nice tutorial. Especially loved the Pros&Cons section. All tutorials should have this section when applicable. Thanks.

Hey there, I'm glad you found it useful 😁
Hi mate, do you know if you can include a way for this to sample the colour of the edge of the mesh so that the outline colour can corresponde to the colour of the mesh?
Hey there! Hmm I'll need to have a proper look into it but if the outline was using the translucent render mode instead of the masked in the tutorial. You can get the scene render via the "Scene texture" node. Ive not tested this though so buyer beware.
It might end up being better to use a post process based outline as you could sample the "scene texture:PostprocessInput0" and go from there. Feel free to join our disord and I'll have a look into it :D
