Does Squarespace offer the equivalent of Flodesk with a subscription or is Flodesk something extra that is needed?

Squarespace doesn't include an email marketing tool in their website hosting price. Flodesk is an additional, separate tool :) you create sign up forms in Flodesk, and then add these easily to any website (including Squarespace).

When I do this, Flodesk gives me a url instead of code? Any idea why?

Hmm that's odd - do you not see the page that gives you the two code snippets?

Bummer... I have to have a certain account with Squarespace to imbed these codes... that was a waste of an hour. :(
