Heya, devs of the game here. Thanks so much for trying the GUG demo! Folks, make sure to subscribe to AK's channel, it's a huge honour to be featured on it :)
You lost your healer when you placed the destructaron (the bomb gug). Your healer and the bomb boy were in the corners, and it seems that the game counts that as "adjecent",so yeah... The bomb boy nuked your healer from the corner.
Interesting... in my mind, those are the two furthest positions from one another. Haha. Thanks for looking into that my friend, it's good knowledge to know! Cheers!
Apparently you can put anything at all and the AI will do their best to create something that makes sense if they actually have the information on it. For example, I wrote Takanashi Kiara and the game gave me a gug named Kiarawattle with Enter Battle - summons a fiery phoenix companion with 3 attack and 5 health. It also saves whatever it generated so you will always get it when you type the exact same thing. EDIT: oh, also, some might be fixed. I wrote Mother Morula and they gave me Mother Morula itself, which is the one that represents your health. Their ability is to set your health equal to the gug's health.
The AI is quite sharp in this and the possibilities are endless which makes is a compelling play! I'm going to be doing a 'Commenter Recommendation' run, where I'll be using the recommended keywords in this comments section. Looking forward to seeing what crazy combos transpire! Thanks for viewing and lending your thoughts!
I played a bit of this after seeing how you played it. The gug that was the hardest to make for me was actually one that nullified all damage dealt to it. Most of the time the gug broke, or it didn't work at all, but I actually succeeded in making one. The description said "Ignores any damage received". After that I made a gug that pushed everything to one side so all the attacks the enemy makes were directed to the invincible one, and my damage dealer just deletes every enemy gug on screen (somehow it's one of the easiest op gugs to make). The invincible trio!
Haha that's awesome, thanks for sharing! Sounds like you put together, like you said, an invincible team, well done! Thanks for checking out the video my friend!
The healer died because the destroyer's effect wraps. That means, instead of active slots being laid out horizontally, they are actually programmed in such a way that they act like a continuous circle. Destroyer touched the left edge, and healer touched the right edge, so by wrapping logic they were adjacent.
@@syafranmuflih7139 It's definitely something in the future plans my man. Let me ask you this, despite the font on the thumbnail, did you enjoy the video? That's what's most important to me. Let me know and thanks for viewing.
At 16:55 that one gug is named Jizzox and covers the battlefield in slime after spawning? With a name like that I fear what the content of that slime contains lol.
14:50 Think you reach the wrong conclusion here. He was seemingly not killed by the neighbor, but by the normal enemy attack. I'm pretty sure the "enter battle" label above the ability means it ONLY activates when you place him on the board. After that you dont have to worry about it. So it's kind of a placement tradeoff on his high attack power. But keep in mind that lanes 1 & 4 is adjacent too (how you lost you healer :))
Some keywords I'm going to try out: Immortal Indestructable Team Trainer Dark Summoner Multi Team Heal Edit: Immortal (Great effect: On death revive it with improved stats ; somehow it died in combat the first time it hit 0 health) Indestructable (Does not have a good effect.) Team Trainer (Solid. Turn start allied gugs gain +1 strenght and +1 health) Dark Summoner (My favorite. Summoned as much shadow minions as there were enemy gugs. Great for stalling and money farming.) Multi Team Heal (decent healing effect. Somehow was fried by an enemy and it's stats went through the roof.) Other OP keywords I used: God Omnipotent (Enter the battlefield: Gain three random traits) Enchanter
Excellent research! Thanks for providing your keywords and findings. Seems you stumbled across a few very powerful ones. I think I got pretty lucky with my very first one being 'Area Heal' that particular one was a cheat code, I could see it pairing very well with the Team Trainer one you tried in your comment. Cool stuff, it's definitely the fun part about this game, trying all kinds of different phrases! Thanks for checking out the video!
Wow, the whole transcending feature is so cool! The fact you can write out any word, and it will give an effect to your Gug is awesome! What a unique game! The possibilities of gugs is huge! I’m curious what words do what! Great job playing and show casing this game! You’re da man!
Right?? When I first tried the game I was like... Wow, the possibilities are potentially endless or at least limited to your vocabulary or what's on your mind at the time of playing. I want to do a 'comments section' run where I simply use recommendations from commenters in the comments section of this video. So stay tuned!! Thanks for your support as always Logan!
I tried a lot of trancend phrases myself, but the best were "wobbly" and " divine", but most especially was the word "trancend" itself. A lot of food related stuff is funny. Some of the seven deadly sins got really interesting.
LOL, there are all kinds of strange sounds in this game but it fits the aesthetic quite well if you ask me. :D Thanks for checking out the video my friend!
Let me know what type of words/phrases you'd try and what type of GUG you think it would make! Thanks for viewing!! :D EDIT: Got some really funny and interesting recommendations here! Due to this, I'll be putting together another video where I'll ONLY be using your recommendations. So keep them coming! Thanks again!
@ Thanks man, great to hear from you again and we've been growing steady, that's for sure! Got mad respect for the old schoolers and appreciate you. Take care!
As someone who loves creating things in Popup Dungeon, I immeadiately downloaded the demo and tried to break the game balance. Like that game, the AI here does its best to balance your input, but still allows you to do some crazy stuff. Will be following this game with great interest!
I'm glad I was able to show you the game my friend, it's one of the most unique titles I have played and I'm looking forward to the full release! You can make some truly powerful ones in this game and I like that they still allow you to do it. It's particularly fun trying a random phrase and getting something REAL powerful! Thanks for checking out the video!
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for subbing, welcome to the community my friend! Got another video where we use commenter recommendations dropping real soon, probably today! Stay tuned!
Played around with it a little bit and some effect are outright weird, because they don't effect the game in any way. Like roll around the battlefield. It's just a nothing effect, because nothing happens. No switching positions, just nothing. Happened quite a few times. But on the other hand sometimes something happens and I had no clue what it meant. My Gug got fried, so it lost its ability, but somehow his and his allies health went through the roof and I don't know why and can only speculate. Maybe it's because my healer got fried and frying triggered its ability multiple times before being overwritten by the frying effect. But I can only guess.
The full release in slated for Q1 of 2025, I wonder what changes/improvements/implementations will be added to the game! Thanks for checking out the video, this one is truly unique!! Cheers!!
I definitely found myself getting a bit confused by some of the effects too and I agree, it does seem that there are abilities that, although have a description of doing something, are complete non-value added.
The game can definitely get very broken... xD And I kinda hope that doesn't change tbh. In a game where the point of it is to be absolutely limitless, why would you want to hold yourself back? Last round I played, one of the enemy gugs had an ability that just doubled the stat points of every gug on the field. And by the time I finished that run, my whole team literally had infinite health and damage. It was AWESOME!
That's an interesting game with a cool twist. I was thinking it'd be cool to try like "acid spitter" or " face melter." That area heal guy is really tough to beat though. Can't wait to see what the full release looks like.
Great idea man! Maybe go with a damage over time deck. The possibilities are literally endless and that's what I love about the game! The 'area heal' was quite a blessing to just randomly stumble into... insanely strong! It's definitely one to keep an eye on! Thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate you!
Soo i tried few stuff: One of my favourites, -god healer: if fully healed, double the attack stat. And end round restore full health. At the end this dude had something like 17m dmg and i had also a lot of money. -Area heal buff: heal all friendly gugs and grant them buff. -saitama: instantly destroy the target opponent gug when enter battle. -eren: transform into a titan with double the attack and health if there are at least tree enemy gugs. Not so good tbh. -rick and morty: portal to a random dimension, summoning an alternate version of itself. Didnt try but if lucky could be good -peter griffin: emit a loud laugh, stunning all enemy gugs for one round, if hit retaliate with double the damage. Not bad -Psychic: turn invisible and gain 3 psychic power point. -son goku: spin and unleash an energy wave, dealing damge equal to twice its current attack to random enemy. -diplomat: enable a negotiation causing no damage for both sides, for one gug -mario: if target is destroyed, spawn a goomba token on its spot. -luigi: if within 3 spaces of target, gain extra attack. Gain health equal to the number of allies on the battlefield. -finn and jake: summon miniature versions of the two heroes to assist in battle. It didnt happend, the gog just damaged himself. -crazy dave: reveals a wild story about mysterious adventures. And it did. At the beginning of the battle a little text appeared. -chuck norris: roundhouse kick all enemy gug, dealing 3 damage. End round gain 1 attack if 3 more gugs were defeated this turn. -gandalf: apply shield that absorbs 3 damage to all friendly gugs. -warhammer 40k: gain strength and enhance attack range. End round, all gugs instantaneously lunch projectiles. -luffy: gain attack equal to current round x2. End round, gain temporary stretching trait that reduces damage by 50%. -alex mercer: absorb the health of all gugs within a 2-space radius, adding the absorbed amount as attack. -sly cooper: steal 1 random item from the opponent's pool. Idk what item. -dovakin: shout reducing all enemy attack by 2. -ur mom: make a mom joke that confuses all enemy. -no u: reflect the first attack back at the attacker. -erik cartman: if attacked by a gug with higher health, shout insults and halve the attacker's attack. End round, if cartmoglob has attacked this round, gain 1 attack for each insult shouted. -bojack: create a sensation of nostalgia and sadness around this gug. -50 cent add 0.5 to health for each coin the player own. Could be OP.. -trump: randomly change the attack or health of an enemy gug by +/- 2. Yoo.. -naruto: summon a shadow clone gug with half its attack. - rey mysterio: unleash a mysterious high-flying assault dealing random damage between 3 and 7. -d20: roll a d20 and deal damage equal to the result to a random enemy gug. -joker: transform into a playful mimic and duplicate target gug's ability with a random twist. -cant die: cancel death event and heal this gug by 1. -fus roh da: emit a shockwave that knocks back all enemy gugs. I tried other stuff but i think this is enough..
Dang man! Thanks for providing all of this research haha. So many super powerful ones! 'ur mom' makes me laugh lol. Thanks for checking out the video and providing these for the community, cheers!!
"Transcend" yields a gug that doubles its health and attack every turn. "Soul" yields a gug that revives the last friendly gug that was destroyed and restore it to half health(And it increases its attack whenever a friendly gug dies this round). "Mind kill" being tested. Edit: Mind kill didn't work well. Couldn't target anything when I placed it down first.
Thanks for the intel! I have 'transcend' on my list, haven't tried it yet but it's obviously quite powerful with the effect you describe. 'soul' is quite nice too! If you want to try a real strong one, fill up the text box with all 9's, trust me on this one. :D Thanks for viewing!
I think your Destructaron killed your area heal guy. I have a feeling the battlefield wraps around so the leftmost position is "adjacent" to the right most. Also, Destrctaron's effect occurs when it enters battle (hence "This enter battle"), meaning when you move it from the back row to the front row. Once it's in the front row, moving something else next to it won't destroy it.
Thanks for looking into this my friend, another commenter mentioned that this is indeed the case. The leftmost position is considered 'adjacent' to the rightmost position, I didn't know that of course. haha. So that's what happened to my beast healer GUG. It's good knowledge to learn for a future run for sure! Thanks for checking out the video!
Definitely interested in the full extent of the word based transcendence mechanic. Watching again, your healer looks like it just disappears while rearranging your guys. Unless that destroy mechanic wraps all the way to the other side before your even hit go, it looked almost like a bug that your healer disappeared.
Absolutely, that's certainly the most compelling part about this game! The possibilities are limited only by your vocabulary or presence of mind although... the results aren't always favorable to your team lol. One commenter pointed out that the leftmost position is considered 'adjacent' to the rightmost position and therefore, the destructoGUG destroyed my ace healer... I didn't know this lol. Thanks for checking out the video my friend, cheers!
I downloaded the game immediately! Some broken words are *SPOILERS* Hecate - If you're lucky you gain a gug that continuously spawns mysterious shadows each turn on an empty space. Each shadow is powerful (each one had over 7 attack and health) Hyper Evolution - The word should summon a gug that continuously evolves each turn, randomly developing traits or stats (reached about 3k on attack and health) Deus Machina - This one is the craziest thus far. Managed to summon a gug that merges the stats of all gags and stock piles it unto the gug. I don't know if doing it to all the gugs present in the field is a bug but reached about 50k on stats but still lost cause some gug switched places. God of Healing - This one doubles your health each time it heals. Two abilities which adds +1 health to your gugs each turn and then double that amount each time it heals a gag.
Glad you tried the game out my friend! Thanks for listing out some powerful ones, God of Healing seems particularly amazing, I think I'll try it!! Thanks for checking out the video!
It would be interesting to see gugs from words that give less obvious ability results, like "lucky", "inky", "chef", "chosen one", "mystery egg", "loving" or "chocolate-coated". Hard to say what abilities these words would give.
Great Recommendations! I agree it would be interesting to see what effect would be created. I will add them to my 'commenter recommendations' list which will be featured in a future video! Recorded the first one last night. :D
Great idea! I have a themed run dropping tomorrow, you'll have to let me know how you like it! The possibilities are literally endless haha. Got your ideas down for themes using animals and crimes, good ideas!
Best Gug ive created so far is "god-spawner" Golluminance spawns a godly gug with random stats each round. The gugs its spawns each round have 50 attack and 450 hp. 😮
That's a great idea and a worthy question to explore. My guess is that yes it would because all of the GUGs you encounter and create go into that GUG encyclopedia where they're stored and using the same phrases nets you the same GUG. Great idea friend, thanks for checking out the video!
I'll add your recommendations to the list (which is a large list) for the next run which will feature only 'Commenter Recommendations'. Should be a fun one! Might need several videos lol. Thanks for viewing!
Glad to hear I'm helping you through the work days my friend! Got plenty of content releasing all the time and I appreciate you being a part of the community! I have not tried Maze Keeper but will definitely check it out, thanks for the recommendation!
Along with the AI integration mods for NPC interactions in Bathesda games this is among the more creative applications of AI. I am curious though. Does that impact the system requirements? Did you need an internet connection for it to work?
Agreed, I really think this game uses AI well to create intrigue and freshness. Regarding system requirements and needing an internet connection, I believe so. If you look at the steam page it has the following: "Connects to 3rd-Party Service for AI Content Generation: OpenAI, fal.ai" which would suggest it connects (through internet) to these services when you launch the game. Also, all created GUGs (across all machines/accounts/players) go to a central library, it's a game that is grown by the players which is also super cool!
I love games with esoteric art styles like this. Makes it super interesting to even just watch it play :). Game Devs!!! Make more “weird”-looking shit!!! Lol
That could be! Another commenter mentioned that destrucatron's effect when left/right-most in the formation actually affects the opposite left/right-most tile, which is something I wasn't anticipating! I would recommend against 'destroyer' as your word in general, it's a hard GUG to use!
@@AboboKnows Yes, you should pay attention to their triggers! Destructatron's "proc" was "when entering battle." So if you put him down first without any other gugs, your team would probably survive.
I think you're correct! There must be wrap-around adjacency in this game, definitely a good thing to know! Thanks for checking out the video my friend.
So, I grabbed the Demo, and found that most of the normal prompts I put in were either weak, or didn't work. UNTIL I TRIED POKEMON. Jeez, some of those pokemon prompts were really strong. Dragonair just deals 4 damage to all opposing Gugs, Octillery lowers attack by 3 of all opposing gugs, and Gorebyss gives all gugs on the battlefield 3 attack, and at the end of the turn heals 2 to itself.
Haha yes! My mind went to the idea of making specialized runs where you focus on a particular thing like Pokemon or Final Fantasy or NFL players or Politicians haha. The possibilities are literally endless and every time you create a new GUG, it gets added to a central pool and thus, expands the game! Thanks for sharing your experience with the game my friend!
Excellent recommendations! I'll add them to my list. Got a Commenter Recommendation run dropping today on the channel. Stay tuned and thanks for viewing!
Thanks for checking out the video my friend! I'm not sure what the full release plans are for the game, but I'm sure the devs will check out the comments and feedback on the game. It's slated to release in full Q1 of 2025 and this is just the demo, so we might see some differences! Thanks for checking out the video!!
Hahaha! I've got the solution there... just use all 9's whenever prompted to transcend. I can't rip off the Brit though!! Huge fan. Thanks for the fun comment!
From what I understand, this game uses AI to create NEW GUGs on demand if the GUG hasn't been discovered yet. Each player contributes to a central library of GUGs that expands the game as more unique words are used and thus, more unique GUGs are created. It really is a cool concept where the players help expand the game as they play! Thanks for checking out the video my man!
Hahaha, I think I'll be adding 'T-Shirt' to the list for the future 'Commenter Recommendation' run. I am also curious to see what happens. :D Thanks for viewing!
i saw what happened to your healer, it seems that the end placements are considered adjacent to each other, and when youbplaced you destructo gug, it triggered and killed it
Yes! Thanks for looking into this. The adjacency wraps in that, the leftmost position is considered adjacent to the rightmost position. I definitely didn't know that, but I do now! Thanks for looking into it!
Lol, well said! The fun is... how about you add 'mass' or 'area' in front of each of those words. Perhaps you get an even better result! :D Thanks for viewing!
Can you move a single gug to better passive slots? Like taking it from the far left and putting it on the +2 health or +2 power slots while your other gugs are fighting?
Hello friend, thanks for checking out the video. No you cannot actually, tried that when I was playing around with it before the video. Great question though!
Haha You're right, should've probably tried some wacky stuff in this one but it was my first time through and I was still getting a bit used to the game. I've got a bunch of other runs (check the vid description and playlist linked at the end of the video), we discover some truly INSANE gugs and do some themed runs (pokemon, final fantasy). Take a look if you're interested my friend. Thanks for spending some time here!
Of course, I'd be happy to share! Abobo is a recurring boss character in the game series 'Double Dragon', the character in my icon is Abobo, and he's a mean muscular dude that punches through walls. As a kid, playing DD, I was always fascinated by Abobo for some reason. The channel name is also a play on the 'BoKnows' marketing campaign with Bo Jackson a legendary NFL and MLB star. Put it all together and you get AboboKnows. Didn't realize that's your surname though! Super cool! Looks like this channel is for you my friend. :D
From my understanding this game uses AI to make new GUGs that don't exist. All created GUGs by all players go to a central pool, so essentially the players add content to the game.
I got a fun one. Keyword: "wololo". Effect - This enter battle: Convert the opposing gug to your team. It got its effect fried immediately though. Seems like the game prevents that from actually happening. I guess I'll keep adding to this post with edits that actually seem to work. "exponential" (Expanthor) - End round: Double this gug's attack. [ *Actually squares the attack* , not doubles. Very quickly turns this attack value into "!!!" and essentially gives you unlimited funds to buy out shops with. Caps at 1 trillion coins.] "transcend" (Tralance) - End turn event: Double this gug's attack and health. [This one actually doubles, and has the HP to keep running. Nice for your first gug. :P ] "health pulse" (Pulsarvex) - End round: Double this gug's health. Enemy turn: Boost target ally gug's health by 2. [Alternate tank with buffing. The secondary effect actually applies to *all* allies.] "average team" (Averagull) - End round: Average out attack and health of all ally gugs. [And the capstone. Beautiful. Yes, this actually works with the exponential gugs to dramatically buff the team. *It works from the bench.* ] "nullify" (Nullitor) - Suppress the abilities of all opposing gugs. [Nice, but doesn't seem to cancel everything.]
I'm adding your recommendations to the list for the next GUG video where I'll be using ONLY commenter recommendations! Thanks for making them and checking out the video!
Excellent recommendations, especially Troubadour! I will add them to my list, I have the first commenter recommendations video dropping on the channel today, stay tuned!!
It's a game where, based on my short time with it, all depends on the GUGs you have. If you choose some poor or goofy ones, you're probably going to have a hard time. If you choose some OP ones, you'll probably shred through the demo. It's set to release in Q1 of 2025 and I'm excited to see what the full release brings! Thanks for checking out the video!
I must say that I experienced a few bugs prior to recording. I think some of the mechanics also require close reading to fully understand what will happen. Sometimes it's completely unpredictable as well lol. Part of the chaotic fun I suppose! This game is just in demo form and set to release in full in Q1 of 2025, I'm sure the dev team will clean this up prior to release. Thanks for checking out the video, subscribe for consistent content!
@AboboKnows very true. I won less though. And failed more due to the randomness and bugs. I think if it's bugless then it will be fair. But I wonder how much this game is balanced. The chaos makes it fun though.
@AboboKnows wait till you try defender. Hehe. Just wait. And mother Morula after you got defender working. Slime King rounds them off. Those 3 are god mode. Unless bugs.
The only clear thing in Gug is that it's unclear. Although I appreciate you checking out the video, calling me a fool is not very nice of you. Perhaps it's an opportunity for self-reflection.
Good point and the results are unpredictable. One thing I have noticed is the AI will sincerely try to generate what you ask for so using broader language like 'area heal' or 'mass heal' vs just 'heal' is usually a good strategy! Play around with it if you like! Thanks!
I'll add it to the list, thanks for the recommendation! Got a huge list here so we'll probably be able to do several 'Commenter Recommendation' runs! Stay tuned and thanks for viewing!
I'm not sure but it would definitely be something to try out. like using 'direct damage' or 'flying' or 'unblockable' as your keyword. I wonder what the results would be?? That's the fun of this game for sure! Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers!!
Correct, AI generated. I believe what's happening is by playing the game, all players in the world are adding GUGs to a central pool as the AI generates them and it's building a huge library. When you type a word the AI creates a GUG for you that tries to emulate your statement/phrase/keyword. Some GUGs exist already (created by others) by others are new creations. You can be very specific (IE: set attack to 1000) and you'll get that, or you could be more obscure and get unpredictable results. It's a fun way to use AI for sure!
You know... now that you say that, it kind of does! Has a similar aesthetic. Thanks for checking out the Gug, if you liked this one, I have plenty more on the GUG playlist on the channel. Give it a look! Thanks!!
This game seems amazing, but we could use a better demonstration, like, "leviathan", "Mjolnir", "phoenix", "cheater", "one punch man" and so on, you're just using very basic words... "attack buffer", "attack multiplier", "immortal", "killing machine".... go crazy with those words bro
You're 100% correct and that's why I've started doing videos where I'm taking commenter recommendations and using them! Check out the playlist my man, we make some insane ones. This video here was my very first run with GUG and I was still playing around with the functionality of the AI. I'm going to keep dropping commenter recommendation runs because hundreds of comments are far more creative than one single man. :D Thanks for viewing!!
It is just generative AI slop with very little variation outside of some pre-baked RPG classes. You have two ends of the spectrum of trash - big AAA trash and then lazy AI garbage like this mess. Neither end of the spectrum deserves your money.
I respect your opinion, this isn't a game for all. I think it uses AI in a fun way and it's only a demo. For me, the community really liked the first few videos and making suggestions for me to try. I found it a fun way to engage with the community.
Welp, the devs say the following about their game on steam, "GUG is a roguelike creature battler..." And that's what I'm basing this off of. By the standard criteria, It is turn-based, it is randomly generated, there is perma-death and there isn't a progression system. I think you could make the case.
Heya, devs of the game here. Thanks so much for trying the GUG demo! Folks, make sure to subscribe to AK's channel, it's a huge honour to be featured on it :)
Why did playing the destructor destroy the healer? Is that a bug or does one of your devs not know what adjacent means?
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed my time with this one. The transcendence system is a brilliant and compelling idea!
Lol in the beta I had a gug that quadrupled it's stats when entering battle, totally stronk
@@fdrehug7318 Stronk fo sho!! haha. Thanks for sharing my friend!
Hey u might want to change something about the word transcend :)
U will see when u try it out xD
I just fought a gug that had the effect "all gugs crash the game" and then i placed a gug and the game crashed. im laughing my ass off rn
Hahaha Hilarious! The game certainly has a sense of humor. Hopefully I don't run across a 'crash gug' in a future video! :D
my first gug was "exponential expand" and it doubled its stats at the start and end of each round. Ended the game dealing several billion damage.
Sounds like you created something truly powerful! Nice find!! Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your experience!
I just summoned a god with whatever stats I'd like turn one xD
You lost your healer when you placed the destructaron (the bomb gug). Your healer and the bomb boy were in the corners, and it seems that the game counts that as "adjecent",so yeah... The bomb boy nuked your healer from the corner.
Interesting... in my mind, those are the two furthest positions from one another. Haha. Thanks for looking into that my friend, it's good knowledge to know! Cheers!
@AboboKnows It's a pleasure to help 🗿🍷
@@_IAGO. I appreciate you friend!
@@AboboKnows Not the first game to do this (where the adjacency loops around) but should be clearer probably.
Also the bomb guy is an "entrence" perk so it destroys only when placed in the field, not each end of turn
Couple that Gug with the area healer and the defender and you are set for life x')
Yes you're 100% correct, thanks for pointing that out my friend!
This game has MASSIVE potential, can't wait to play it!
It's a game like no other! Super fun seeing what types of GUGs you can create! Enjoy the demo my friend!
Destrucotron says that when it enters battle, it destroys adjacent ones, and I guess the far left and the far right slots are considered adjacent
I believe you're correct! I wasn't aware that the adjacency wraps around in this game but now I know. Heck, now we ALL know. Thanks for viewing!! :D
Maybe for a corpse/decay build?
@@nelsonrocha4341 I'll add it to the list for the 'commenter suggestion' run, might have to do several videos at this point! :D Thanks for viewing.
Gnarly idea here! Thanks for playing!
You bet! This idea is super unique and I enjoyed my run through it. Try the free demo if you're interested and thanks for spending some time here!
An idea, buy a unique font dude. The unique gug is really contrast to the boring fonts. It feels so wrong
@@syafranmuflih7139 It's definitely something in the future plans my man. Let me ask you this, despite the font on the thumbnail, did you enjoy the video? That's what's most important to me. Let me know and thanks for viewing.
@@AboboKnows Obviously. The gameplay itself is fun. Design is cute, though the UI could be a bit more intuitive
The possibilities may truly be endless :D cool game, thanks for this!
Only limited by your vocabulary or current presence of mind! :D
At 16:55 that one gug is named Jizzox and covers the battlefield in slime after spawning? With a name like that I fear what the content of that slime contains lol.
Hahahaha!!! You make some very solid observations my friend. LOL
After looking at it again you're 100% correct! Something to keep in mind for a future video. Thanks for viewing!
The slime king looks like the King in Yellow to me…
Had to look that reference up, but you're totally right! Thanks for checking out the video!
So I tried 'Evolve' and I think I broke the game. My gug kept getting more health and damage eventually hitting over 300 M by the end game....
Brilliant!! I'll have have to try this out! I'll add it to the 'Commenter Recommendations' list for the next run! Thanks for viewing!
Some keywords I'm going to try out:
Immortal
Indestructable
Team Trainer
Dark Summoner
Multi Team Heal
Edit:
Immortal (Great effect: On death revive it with improved stats ; somehow it died in combat the first time it hit 0 health)
Indestructable (Does not have a good effect.)
Team Trainer (Solid. Turn start allied gugs gain +1 strenght and +1 health)
Dark Summoner (My favorite. Summoned as much shadow minions as there were enemy gugs. Great for stalling and money farming.)
Multi Team Heal (decent healing effect. Somehow was fried by an enemy and it's stats went through the roof.)
Other OP keywords I used:
God
Omnipotent (Enter the battlefield: Gain three random traits)
Enchanter
This looks fun. I might check it out when it releases. Love the vids. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate that my man, thanks for your awesome support! Definitely one to keep an eye on, I too am excited and curious about the full release!
So snoop dog results in a gug spawning clouds and increased attack damage based on clouds 😂
And a well known German politician starts world domination 💀
Hahahaha, this is hilarious and pretty spot on!
YIKES!
I tried a lot of trancend phrases myself, but the best were "wobbly" and " divine", but most especially was the word "trancend" itself. A lot of food related stuff is funny. Some of the seven deadly sins got really interesting.
Super cool, thanks for sharing your experience! The possibilities are truly limitless in this game!
An interesting simulator of Grandpa's gardens.🧐🔍
Is this a reference to a Children's book? Lol
@AboboKnows yeah, very family friendly place and character. He may even give you to try his resent brews.😏😉
@@grey11aldering LOL I must admit, I am a fan of Brews and Breweries :D
This looks SO FUN
It's a wildly unique game, let me tell ya! There's nothing quite like it. Try the free demo today! Cheers!
Why does it sound like a kitten crying when the battle starts😂 keep thinking my kids cats crying
LOL, there are all kinds of strange sounds in this game but it fits the aesthetic quite well if you ask me. :D Thanks for checking out the video my friend!
Let me know what type of words/phrases you'd try and what type of GUG you think it would make! Thanks for viewing!! :D
EDIT: Got some really funny and interesting recommendations here! Due to this, I'll be putting together another video where I'll ONLY be using your recommendations. So keep them coming! Thanks again!
I'd try 'nuke', 'Chuck Norris', 'invincible' or 'Mother Morula' for potentially broken Gugs.
try "Dao of Life and Death"
Rock Lee =)
GOD
Should’ve gone with all ‘aboboknows’ gugs 😂
I thought my stomach was tripping 😂
Lol!
This looks really fun
It's a good one, unique for sure! Try the demo if you're interested my friend!
@ oh man I’m going to now haha it’s great to see your Chanel growing as an old school viewer keep it up friend
Dope game subbed can't wait for more
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for subbing, welcome to the community my friend! Got another video where we use commenter recommendations dropping real soon, probably today! Stay tuned!
The art is very cool and the gameplay sounds intriguing. I wonder how far can you take the naming system.
In the wishlist you go.
Soo i tried few stuff:
One of my favourites,
-god healer: if fully healed, double the attack stat.
Didnt try but if lucky could be good
-peter griffin: emit a loud laugh, stunning all enemy gugs for one round, if hit retaliate with double the damage. Not bad
-Psychic: turn invisible and gain 3 psychic power point.
-son goku: spin and unleash an energy wave, dealing damge equal to twice its current attack to random enemy.
-diplomat: enable a negotiation causing no damage for both sides, for one gug
-mario: if target is destroyed, spawn a goomba token on its spot.
Thanks for checking out the video!
this game will be amazing. streamers going, ight chat what word. and chats be like "rizzler"
it's definitely a game that engages a community.
Some broken words are *SPOILERS*
Hecate - If you're lucky you gain a gug that continuously spawns mysterious shadows each turn on an empty space. Each shadow is powerful (each one had over 7 attack and health)
Hyper Evolution - The word should summon a gug that continuously evolves each turn, randomly developing traits or stats (reached about 3k on attack and health)
Deus Machina - This one is the craziest thus far.
Enter battle is only when you put it on battlefield.
Yes, you're totally correct! I have to read to descriptions a little more closely. :D
Infinity is hands down the most powerful gug
It's pretty insane isn't it? Thanks for viewing!
I would try different runs with themed words, like using colors, or animal names or crimes. Larceny, Homicide, Arson, etc...
Wow! That one sounds amazingly powerful, especially if it spawns it every round... Amazing! Thanks for sharing a strong one my friend, cheers!
I wonder if you you can enter the enemy names to get them on your team
That's a great idea and a worthy question to explore. My guess is that yes it would because all of the GUGs you encounter and create go into that GUG encyclopedia where they're stored and using the same phrases nets you the same GUG. Great idea friend, thanks for checking out the video!
God-king gug
Good recommendation! I'll add it to my list! Thanks!!
could try phases like "buff gugs not in battle" or "health to damage"
I'll add your recommendations to the list (which is a large list) for the next run which will feature only 'Commenter Recommendations'. Should be a fun one! Might need several videos lol. Thanks for viewing!
Have you tried Maze Keeper? Videos are helping get through the work days.
Fill the name spot with all 9
It makes a powerful one
Haha alright, I'll add this to the list for the commenter recommendations special!
I love games with esoteric art styles like this. Makes it super interesting to even just watch it play :).
Game Devs!!! Make more “weird”-looking shit!!! Lol
Hahaha Great comment, thanks my friend!
Yeah it looks like you need to place down destructatron first maybe to prevent the loss of minions
Superman, god, area heal, indefinite buff, team sheild
Trying to find one that negates enemy status effects
The superheroes are sweet, hulk and Spiderman are pretty cool ones
I have an episode dropping soon where I tried Iron Man and Captain America, they were pretty good ones too, stay tuned!
15:00 I'm assuming the healer was "adjacent" due to wrap around, and the nuker only pops on placement? Not sure
Use Slime King. Use Mother Morula. Use Defender. Not in that order though. Defender. Then Mother. Then King.
I'm thinking about doing another run where I only use commenter suggestions, you have given me three. Thanks my friend. :D
@@AboboKnows Please and thank you

Not saying it not a good idea but why did they not make it a build battle type map fighting game WHATEVER!
Thanks for checking out the video my friend! I'm not sure what the full release plans are for the game, but I'm sure the devs will check out the comments and feedback on the game. It's slated to release in full Q1 of 2025 and this is just the demo, so we might see some differences! Thanks for checking out the video!!
how about trying "the spiffing brit" prompt to create a perfectly balanced gug with no exploits ? ;)
Hahaha! I've got the solution there... just use all 9's whenever prompted to transcend. I can't rip off the Brit though!! Huge fan. Thanks for the fun comment!
Try "divine scaling" you won't be dissapointed
Adding it to the list for a future commenter recommendations video!! Thanks!!
So does gug use AI for the words? That’s pretty cool not gonna lie
So hear me out. Transcend. Type that in when you Transcend. Oohhhh. When I get home. I'm doing that.
Haha yes! I have this one on my list and we'll be trying it out for sure! Thanks for the recommendations my friend!
I'm curious to try words that has nothong to do with combat... Like idk... T-shirt?
Hahaha, I think I'll be adding 'T-Shirt' to the list for the future 'Commenter Recommendation' run. I am also curious to see what happens. :D Thanks for viewing!
Would try the following:
Memento Mori
Galactic power
Force Pulse
Kryptonian Supergug
Allied Resurrection
Death god
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll add them to the list, stay tuned to see if they appear in a future run. Thanks!!
I NEED to remeber this gane when i get a computer, is there a discord?
Found this link on the steam page:
discord.com/invite/VkbF6SdBta
i saw what happened to your healer, it seems that the end placements are considered adjacent to each other, and when youbplaced you destructo gug, it triggered and killed it
Yes! Thanks for looking into this. The adjacency wraps in that, the leftmost position is considered adjacent to the rightmost position. I definitely didn't know that, but I do now! Thanks for looking into it!
@@AboboKnows ye 👍
Acid, Fire, Magic, Shield, Heal, Summon, Reanimate, Ressurect, Mirror Deflect etc etc.. so many words..
Martial Arts moves? Chess move names? Tactical Defense names?Harry Potter Spell names? Idk..
I wish he would diversify his assets a little more 😅
Haha You're right, should've probably tried some wacky stuff in this one but it was my first time through and I was still getting a bit used to the game. I've got a bunch of other runs (check the vid description and playlist linked at the end of the video), we discover some truly INSANE gugs and do some themed runs (pokemon, final fantasy). Take a look if you're interested my friend. Thanks for spending some time here!
Is it ok to ask where you got your channel name? Abobo happens to be my surname lol
I think I found the strongest guy :) try out the word transcend
Oh yeah! I'll be adding it to the list of words to try for the 'Commenter Recommendations' run! Stay tuned and thanks for viewing!
im low key stupid so i just have to ask, does this game use ai to make the gugs or do they just add a bunch of things and use ai to make guesses
From my understanding this game uses AI to make new GUGs that don't exist. All created GUGs by all players go to a central pool, so essentially the players add content to the game.
Name one of your Gugs "Mother Morula." Thank me later 😊
I certainly will! I'll add your recommendation to the list for the future 'Commenter Recommendation' run! Thanks for checking out the video!
That error gug, if you never attack, can you just farm?
Good question, not sure! Will definitely have to try! Thanks for checking it out!
Caps at 1 trillion coins.]
"transcend" (Tralance) - End turn event: Double this gug's attack and health. [This one actually doubles, and has the HP to keep running. Nice for your first gug. :P ]
"health pulse" (Pulsarvex) - End round: Double this gug's health. Enemy turn: Boost target ally gug's health by 2. [Alternate tank with buffing. The secondary effect actually applies to *all* allies.]
"average team" (Averagull) - End round: Average out attack and health of all ally gugs. [And the capstone. Beautiful. Yes, this actually works with the exponential gugs to dramatically buff the team. *It works from the bench.* ]
"nullify" (Nullitor) - Suppress the abilities of all opposing gugs. [Nice, but doesn't seem to cancel everything.]
Excellent! Thanks for sharing some unique and POWERFUL GUGs! Exponential and Average seem like a pretty amazing 1-2 punch!
Try infinity or omnipotent
I'm adding your recommendations to the list for the next GUG video where I'll be using ONLY commenter recommendations! Thanks for making them and checking out the video!
Tipe bigkill and you get one that kill all enemey when they spawn
Its kinda a bug i think but i finish the game as soon as 5 min after install :)))
Haha well done! 'BigKill' sounds compelling, I'll add it to the list. Thanks friend!
the sound track is what? Luma?
Not sure what the game soundtrack is but the ending track is an original from yours truly :D Thanks for checking out the video!
Vampire
Warlock
Troubadour
Vigorous
Cleaver
Battle Fury
Hacker
Warden
Hydra
Hades
Excellent recommendations, especially Troubadour! I will add them to my list, I have the first commenter recommendations video dropping on the channel today, stay tuned!!
13:55 your gug got destroyed by ur gug☠️☠️☠️
RIP my poor GUG! Thanks for checking out the video. :)
@AboboKnows welcome😁
Why is enemy HP so low? Seems too easy thus far. Interesting game, would check out if it’s deeper
Thanks for checking out the video!
probably to allow you to mess around with mechanics/strats, it feels like a tutorial which are usually piss easy to allow you to learn basics
Exodia, obliterate!
Exodia is being added to the list for a future 'Commenter Recommendation' video! Thanks for spending some time here my friend!
I think the game is super buggy. I also just randomly loose units. Strong ones. Then I loose. I love the game. It's just too buggy and random.
@@PaulBeetge Great point! I think 'Area Heal' is the cheat code, hahaha!
@AboboKnows wait till you try defender. Hehe. Just wait. And mother Morula after you got defender working. Slime King rounds them off. Those 3 are god mode. Unless bugs.
@@PaulBeetge Can't wait to try it out!
Is there a disclaimer about ai art?
Yes there is, on the steam page for the game it calls it out in several places.
😮
Enjoy! :D
was very clear if the hp transferred and you didnt try moving the benched gugs into the +damage slots fool.
The only clear thing in Gug is that it's unclear. Although I appreciate you checking out the video, calling me a fool is not very nice of you. Perhaps it's an opportunity for self-reflection.
This looks like axie
There are definitely some similarities! Thanks for checking it out my friend!
The problem with this game is that there's no standardized language... no keywords to try and aim for
Good point and the results are unpredictable. One thing I have noticed is the AI will sincerely try to generate what you ask for so using broader language like 'area heal' or 'mass heal' vs just 'heal' is usually a good strategy! Play around with it if you like! Thanks!
Keyword: omnipotent
I'll add it to the list, thanks for the recommendation! Got a huge list here so we'll probably be able to do several 'Commenter Recommendation' runs! Stay tuned and thanks for viewing!
Does “direct damage” effects work on these guys? Like deal one damage directly to enemy or some MTG keywords like unblockable or flying or type thing?
I'm not sure but it would definitely be something to try out. like using 'direct damage' or 'flying' or 'unblockable' as your keyword. I wonder what the results would be?? That's the fun of this game for sure! Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers!!
@ I’ll try out the demo when I get a second and let you know if it works
@@A-Saturnalia Excellent, let me know for sure! Thanks my friend!
Is it AI generated? How do they do that
Correct, AI generated.
@ ah that makes sense. And I was gonna say the same, what a cool/fun way to use AI.
Looks like plant vs. Zombies
You know... now that you say that, it kind of does! Has a similar aesthetic. Thanks for checking out the Gug, if you liked this one, I have plenty more on the GUG playlist on the channel. Give it a look! Thanks!!
13:59 bro seems to dumb for me have to find another video but hope you get views.
*Too dumb
This whole game looks AI generated from the ground up.
AI definitely has a part, I'm not sure how much of a part though! Thanks for checking out the video!!
:D Thanks for viewing!!
the word evolve breaks the game FYI
Sounds like a run of GUG for sure, haha! Thanks for sharing, it's a cautionary tale!
God guy, immortal guy, dragon guy, insane gug, death guy, reaper guy, summoner guy, invisible... etc USE YOUR IMAGINATION! Warrior... how lame!
LOL relax man, my goodness.
Your vocabulary seems very limited.
it's not though.
@@AboboKnows hey man, for what it is worth - you made ME play the game lol. I think your video was good.
@ Haha that's worth its weight in gold my man! Thanks for sharing that and I'm glad you thought the video was good. :D
Y U talk like that?
Simply put my man, because it's the way I talk.
Slop.
If this is a recommendation for a GUG it might create an unpredictable result. What does a 'Slop' GUG do? Only one way to find out! :D
not a roguelike
Welp, the devs say the following about their game on steam, "GUG is a roguelike creature battler..." And that's what I'm basing this off of. By the standard criteria, It is turn-based, it is randomly generated, there is perma-death and there isn't a progression system. I think you could make the case.
