- The U.S. military is beginning to recognize the value of distributed, joint, multi-domain warfighting capability. In the Mosaic Warfare and Multi-Domain Battle keynote and panel session at DARPA’s 60th anniversary symposium, D60, Dr. Timothy Grayson, director of DARPA’s Strategic Technologies Office, explains the concept of mosaic warfare and its path to implementation.
Panelists including senior Army, Navy, and Air Force flag offers provide critical perspectives on the potential game-changing benefits and daunting challenges of mosaic warfare.

I say that because literally it is endgame technology similar smartphones where it will basically never be totally replaced, only improved versions in expanding roles.
Excellent speech. I am speaking to the cyber utility battle space and its adaptation from multi domain thinking. Specifically addressing Industrial Control System’s cybersecurity, initial and sustainment costs, effectiveness and resiliency for the electric and gas generation, transmission and distribution operator or investor owned.

This is why I wear an "I like Ike" campaign button. He is the only one to genuinely warn us, or even mention the real power structures. He (along with other presidents EOs) gave them that power, but is still the only one to warn us about it.
Some categorical imperatives. Battle on, and for, the land domain is prime. Land is the culmination, the finality, of the domain-offset. Lose the land battle, other domains don't matter. Stealth is a domain. Stealth provides depth and connectivity to all the domains. The side that dominates stealth prevails in battle over the other domains. It's called the domain advantage. Finally, all battles can be reduced to a struggle between stealth and domains for supremacy. Time is not the aggregation, but the synthesizer of multi-domain battles. Prevailing over the A2/AD of time domain is paramount in establishing cross-domain advantage.
Logistics is still an even more important factor than stealth. Run out of ammo, fuel or spare parts, and the best stealth in the world becomes useless.

How to refine all these new forms of incoming data as well, so as not to overwhelm or distract the various levels of command, branches armed forces... as well as the lower level "empowered"(lol) enlisted, ect... and how to keep it functional, effective, stream lined, and idiot proof.
With these new capabilities what is the best structure to effectively process this data in real time
you need a AI fusion capability that predicts and recommends for the CDR - a supercomputer that can work faster and smarter than a staff - C3P0 for targeting

Considering that cyber warfare relies heavily on discovered but classified programming exploits, effectively an intelligence operation, shouldn't cyber generally be classed with other intelligence operations? Thus the fifth domain is actually not merely cyber but all intelligence operations
In a way I’m not entirely sure what the problem is. If we have an AI that can beat any opponent at go, then surely the AI can process all of the necessary moves from any particular point that would count as the best move. Why not just connect everything so that everyone gets the AI’s input? Are they just over complicating this?
So...what happens if the network is infected?
If you want each piece to be like a mosaic, that will require each platform to be more general, which requires adding capabilities, which increases cost.
I appreciate the idea of decentralized networking, the ability to strike from the unexpected quarter against targets of opportunity is pretty neat.

I love this idea and its definitely a step in the right direction. Although, i have an issue with the cyber domain.
An EMP can destroy the kill. Also, the russo-ukraine war is showing us ways to disrupt drones. Why have an AI decision aid when drones can be destroyed before gaining the vital information the AI needs.

As far as "defining" the problem ? .. For this next "phase" of Cooperative Integration, we can safely and easily focus upon "enabling and accelerating organic evolution". … More simply, as an algorithm. …
(1) Identify network bottlenecks (obstacles, incompatibilities, deficiencies, etc.)
(2) Eliminate or mitigate that, prioritized "list" of bottlenecks.
(3) Repeat steps (1) and (2), above.
Call it "continuous streamlining" but there must be some sort of "Czar" or Director to track and shepherd the larger mission, at an *inter-service* level, so that all domains are prioritized and addressed, holistically.
How is it that the panel is not aware of the long standing super soldier program? There have been advancements that exceed these discussions and have been implemented in various locations on and off planet.
It is possible that the panel doesn't follow Marvel.

This is great tech to be sure, but wht aif the Computer is fundamentally and inescapably compromised, what will be our back up? IF our tech fails us, we must have the capability to rapidly switch to the alternative manual system, or risk losing the immediate battle that could cost us the war.
