I want to address that I do appreciate what OVERWATCH 2 is doing in general, but as a long time fan of Overwatch, I’m just not digging the pace. I get that a new hero would cause the balance to get out of whack, but for me *personally* I was just a little disappointed.
But please don’t let my little disappointment ruin your enjoyment. If you love this game, you’ll play regardless

the reason there isn't a new hero every season (it'll be every other) is because it would be too chaotic.
also overwatch seasons are fairly short so expecting a new hero every 2 months is just hyping yourself up for disappointment, either the hero would be to op, or it would be really underpowered, and they would probably be really forgettable
Blizzard have been great with the communication though, they literally stated already that there will be a new hero every 2 seasons and when there isn’t a new hero there will be a new map/mode
I have just not enjoyed ow2 recently just cause it wasn't as exciting as the initial launch
sso i just went to apex and it is sooo much better (this is my opinion don't take it personally)

That is good judgement, OW2 took long release and after 3 seasons only, they don't give a hero. This is why I quit already...
I would rather not have a new hero every season, since it makes each new hero release more special and we dont get too much overdose
I never thought of it like that but now that you mention it I agree I remember being so annoyed about the game constantly being unbalanced because of the new hero
yah i agree a new hero should in my opinion be announced every say 4 or 3 seasons so that in case a new hero is dropped they have enough time to balance it and balance other heros

Basically what there going to do is alternate I don’t exactly know how but it’ll be there release new after this then will be a new hero

Man people spent the last 5 months complaining about unblanaced gameplay,a lack of free content and shitty monitization,and now that they’re working towards fixing stuff its “disappointing”. Im honestly hyped that blizzard is being proactive with reacting to community feedback unlike apex,which has had the same problems for years at this point.
I mean for me personally it doesn't give you the currency to buy the next battle pass in this battle pass it's just a same currency that allows you to buy skins from OverWatch 1

Agreed. I kinda get annoyed when people constantly get mad that there’s no new hero. They forget that people are actually making these heroes and they have to think of a design for them and they can’t do that every season.

Turns out they had already said that heroes in OW would release every two seasons, and it kind of makes sense. In Apex a legend’s kit is a complement to the gunplay, while on OW it’s their whole identity, and whatever a hero brings to the table will have a larger impact on the balance of the game because of that. It makes sense that a development cycle would take longer.
I don't mind that there's no hero this season as long as this isn't a frequent thing. Other than having no new hero, this is a very good season in my opinion.
Theres gonna be a new hero every other season.
next season is a new hero, season after will be a map, then a hero, and so on.
@@buttocksboy yeah. I'm just gald they're being consistent now with hero releases. And i think its a bit much to expect a new hero with every season considering the devs are also working on the PvE stuff and the new game mode that's coming later this year.
@@Jonkenstonk I mean, that's not really an excuse, the people in charge of designing the new character aren't the same people working on PvE, so they could definitely do it at the same rate as always.
I can give you that maybe they're redirecting more resources to the PvE department than the new characters one, but they also had a lot of time to design new characters between the transition from Ow1 to Ow2

Bro ow2 heroes are WAY more in-depth than apex legends. So than can skip every other season to make an actual unique character
Fr, i played apex and for me the legends feels the same, in overwatch i can pick like 20 heroes and feels really unique
yeah and the need to balance them with so many other characters is even harder compared to Apex just due to the nature of Overwatch and the amount of characters they already have.
Also they have the same release schedule as apex almost cause apex gets a new legend every 3 or 4 months where overwatch 2 has a new hero every 4

Please don't call this season dissapointing, We've had literally the best patch notes in probably 3 years completely shifting up tanks and some DPS. Just because we don't have a new hero doesn't make it a bad season. Not only that but world cup is restarting and we are gonna be getting colabs with anime studios down the line as well as the devs talking about A LOT of new changes coming season 4 like the removal of map pools and rank resets and the end of seasons and so on.

Finishing the battle pass without buying it can get you enough ow credits to buy a legendary skin. I’m happy about it.
what? in the free battle pass you get 1500 total and in the premium 500 more when you complete it. and you only need to get to level 45 to buy the next battle pass

Not getting a hero in every season allows the developers to focus on other cool stuff, this is the main problem of apex after so many heroes it's just boring and the content besides the heroes is always pretty bad. So I really like the fact that we don't get a hero every season. Beside this was the schedule of ow1 hero releases when they used to release heroes. And it worked pretty well.
I don’t know, this season they listened to a lot of our complaints and fixed them, so I’ll let this slide.
They didn't listen, they knew before the game even launched that we'd have these complaints just by looking at any other F2P out there, They chose to do it still and are only walking it back now to get the same sentiment you showed from others. Do you not think after 6 years of F2P being massive they could have seen these complains coming and dealt with them before?
Hate to say this but this is kinda of a L take on season 3, especially coming from macro. The patch notes will actually carry the season and with me being free to play, being able to earn a legendary skin of my choice is really cool. Plus kiriko mythic skin will probably be the reason why I might spend money. The apex thing on the other hand, I think it’s gonna be one of the better seasons ,in my opinion, because they are focusing on the problems apex has been having for a while now. Great vid though

Macro your not accounting for the fact that apex releases a character every 4 months. This is the exact same for overwatch. An overwatch season only lasts 2 months. expecting twice the content in half the time is a little harsh dont you think?
I still think his reasoning applies, OW went a year without any new heroes and OW2 barely on season 3 already skimping out on heroes is kind of upsetting

The worst thing with those credits is that you can't buy battle pass with them, because you buy battle pass with coins which are new currency
Seeing their BP now include credit, I am actually debating whether to grind S3 or not... seeing you know, Apex S16 is coming, and depend on the actual execution, may be the closest we have to Halo.
Also, sometimes, some heroes are overlaps. Take LoL's Sona and Seraphine

I think this new overwatch season is great and I really don’t see anyone else complaining.
Yh I liked the massive patch which spiced up the meta a lot and the way the game plays. If macro actually went through the patch a bit and looked at a lot of the changes he would see a lot of quality of life changes which he make think makes this season a bit less disappointing. I’m happy with it tbh. Apart from the fact they broke career profiles

@@SNGamiiing I hate the tank nerf. There was no reason for it. If i remeber correctly doomfist has 300 health now. He is basically an attacker. And also it completly defeats the point of a tank they are supposed to be hard to kill now there is no point in playing them.
@@jimmyjohn536 that’s only in stuff like open queue and arcade etc, they did that bc tanks were way too op in those modes and annoying to play against. Especially in open queue, u basically had ti run goats or you just lose
@@SNGamiiing That is because they are supposed to be able to take on two maybe three attackers depending on what they are. Tanks are supposed to have high health or else whats the point of playing them. Genji is a really annoying character and they did nothing about him, as well as sombra. Tanks are supposed to be able to break the frontlines and wreak some havoc now I can no longer get a charge kill with reinhart if im going up against more than one attacker. And they ruined roadhog the buff is not a good trade off.
From a content creator standpoint I can understand being disappointed in the no new character, but honestly it’s not a big deal for most, heck last season we get a new hero and a new map when we were only supposed to get a hero, so I think they have their work cut out for them
I strongly disagree with you macro. This season has alot of awesome changes and positive changes.
Usually I understand Macros opinions. But it seems me and so many other viewers find the lack of a new hero not bad. If anything it helps keep things calmer and not have to constantly adapt to new things.
Apex is of course doing a giant change so adding a legend would make it crazier. But overwatch doesn't always need a hero to adapt to, Kiriko is still a pain, Ramettra is still strong, Every hero has their benefit and Mercy is probably still very good
Rare Macro L, this season has so many W's, balancing is good for once (so far), events lined up until May, more free to play features. This is what happens when you play with OhDough too much

Quite possibly the worst take I've seen on this season so far. This season is the beginning of reform in OW2's state so it shouldn't be regarded as disappointing as the whole game has basically been improved to a reasonable degree. The devs are listening to the community and are starting to take the game in the right direction so we can't really complain too much on that front.
Wait till macro finds out that the credits can only buy old ow1 skins not battle passes

Kinda ironic to talk about a games main addition (which it's far from this season) being cosmetics when apex legends events only exist for cosmetics selling special ones for the worth of half a console.

I remembered a while ago people being up in arms about how unlocking heirlooms worked and even when you got to that point, you were only unlocking the privilege to buy it and got a good laugh because I figured that there was no way they would do that.
I get it. After years of barely any content in OW1 I wanted tons of maps and heroes added. But in 3 seasons OW2 put out 4 new heroes and 7 new maps. This season also shows some goodwill from the devs with the One Punch Man collab, lots of new events, creditsand things over the horizon. So it could've been a lot better, and I really wanted a new support, but this is still a good step forward and makes the future of this game a bit brighter
It can be a step in the right direction and still be disappointing, they haven't fixed any of the underlying issues for anyone but the new F2P players, They chose to only let credits be used on OW1 skins or items a hero launches with when it literally would have been easier for them to just let you buy one skin of your choice each season, How much is 1 skin per person really going to eat into their profits when they have several events in that time frame?

I like to think of S3 as an overwatch equivalent of R6's Operation Health. A season dedicated to fixing poor decisions, bad systems and overall focusing more on having a playable, enjoyable game rather than releasing more over (or under) powered characters and overpriced reskins and heirlooms without having a healthy spine also known as a good, working game. It would be really inconsiderate if a studio ever did something like that, luckilly, game devs and management wouldn't allow things like that to happen in an age of modern gaming, where making hotfixes has never been easier.
For once I genuinely disagree with macro for once, I'd say they should just let the game get settled in instead of adding a new hero that could be unbalanced

Considering the time that seasons last in apex compared with ow2 its basically 2 ow season for 1 apex season. We are getting the content apex gets each “large” season with a map a a new bp in between, we cant complain :/
They said a couple months ago this was how it was gonna be, it will still be 3 heros per year which it the normal amount for most games and plus a new map is a nice bit of spice I don't mind
A new hero comes out every other season with maps in all seasons. As someone who really plays this game its overall better cause overwatch is a difficult game to balance and it allows them to not throw out broken characters. Ramattra is like the first time a new character wasn't meta or broken on release possibly in this games history. Also if you look at all the changes made this season, the events, and skins this season is far from a disappointment. Also overwatch isn't hear to mediate to those coming in and out for a few days cause those who have been following the days prior to this season have been hyped. We don't need a hero we need balance cause this game won't be fun as sourjourn is this games seer on release levels of strong. They are not releasing two next season. If anything will kill thos game it'd going to be misinformation cause I swear it's just soo easy to find.

Both apex and overwatch didn’t release a hero because they want to focus on improving their games… the ranked system has completely changed for the better (I went from hardstuck gold to high diamond in the first week), you now get free currency for playing, the best support in the game is getting a mythic skin, overwatch is having their first ever collab..
As for overwatch they told people this back before overwatch 2 even came out after season 2 that would alternate between a new map then a new hero
I think considering where the game is right now, a new hero would probably mix things up more. I would like to see a new one once we get into the season, but the game itself needs to set itself first

I think for overwatch fans, they address the issue. Yeah s3 is really early, but factoring these wishes in with late Overwatch 1 season, these changes were so needed. Hope both games are on the rise again
Personly i am very happy the made somethings right and they really stepped up i think making to many Hero makes a game build up hype for inblance we saw it soijon and kiriko i love the fact that they dont over do it again

Guess people are gonna think any season is disappointing if they don't have a new hero but some do have to remember that the scehdule they wanna keep to develop a character, which includes concept, cosmetics, voicelines, and lore, is basically the same schedule from OW1. Building up to OW2, we got Sojourn, Queen, Kiriko, and Ramattra so that comes down to over a year's worth of work just on that alone that was given to us in a few months. Now the next two heroes are gon a be supports and they're still balancing with Ram in the mix. This isn't LoL where they can crank out heroes and I think a lot of us prefer that because the characters have that level of care put in to them thag I wouldn't want the devs to change.
I don’t think a new hero each season is good idea especially competitively since each hero that has come out so far has been meta in some form (ramattra the least meta shifting). It would cause the game to have overwatch 1s problem of power creep but exponentially quicker.

Correction: The "credits" in the battlepass are not overwatch coins (used to buy BP and OW2 skins) they are legacy credits (used to buy old OW1 skins and thats it)

To me not having a new hero this season isn’t very surprising, since back in ow1 we would get new heroes at about the same pace; 4 months, give or take a week. Overwatch heroes also take longer to make than a new apex or valorant character

1:40 - actually, they only give you credits, not Overwatch coins. In order to buy the next Battle Pass, you need Overwatch coins. So the Battle Pass does not pay for the next Battle Pass.

It's really not fair to compare apex and overwatch in how quick new heros come out,
In apex you need a passive, one ability and an ultimate ability, some voice lines and some skins, in overwatch you need that, more abilities and a unique primary. Also there are WAY more OW heros making it harder to come up with unique ability and new heros almost always mixes up the meta more than apex because that has more focus on individual weapons.
Apex and overwatch release heros at the same rate almost just overwatch does shorter seasons

I personally thought this season was good, I don't think no new hero is that bad
i think getting a new hero in the pool, after the mess that was season 2 would hurt the game more than it would help.
The balancing team has clearly been struggling a lot. I think this season is doing much better than the previous 2, but its stuff that should've been there since the beggining. Blizzard did not have to commit the mistakes other companies did years ago, they could've learned from them and avoided these mistakes. It feels like the battle pass idea was thrown in there last minute and they didn't really put any ressearch into how to make a good monetization system.
(also cramming more heroes in the game will drive away many returning players. There's no way i'm coming back to apex, too many heroes made the game too confusing to me, and all of my friends that used to play with me)
Also i think getting one map one season and one hero in the other would be good.
Gotta say I disagree man, I really don't mind not having a new hero. Plus the new maps are cool and I'm looking forward to the events that are definitely coming. Overwatch 2 battlepass and Apex's BP have different strategies behind them and overall I think OW2 is more consumer friendly.
Simple question, How is OW2s more consumer friendly when Apex and basically every other F2P out there lets you earn enough currency to buy the next one?
