My wife and I lost our one year old to a rare syndrome in 2005 and lost a son that was born with a totally unrelated syndrome in 2008. We definitely had some serious "God issues" after walking through that. We felt like the God we knew had let us down and didn't answer our prayers for healing and we couldn't understand why he would let it happen twice. Two things that helped me process everything were the verse Luke 7:23 and something my pastor said concerning healing. In Luke 7:23 Jesus says "God blesses those who don't fall away because of me". Basically, John the Baptist is in prison wondering if Jesus is who he said he was and Jesus tells his disciples to reassure John by telling him of all the miracles he is performing. I think Jesus knew that John would probably think "That's great and all but what about me. I'm in prison about to be beheaded and I've played such an important role in your story, why don't you perform a miracle for me and get me out of here." I think Jesus was letting us all know that there will be times when we will not understand Him and He will not live up to our expectations. The question we all have to ask is "Will we choose to follow Christ when we don't fully understand Him and He lets us down." The second thing that helped me put healing into perspective is my pastor was preaching on healing and was reading all of the instances where God healed someone in the Bible. After reading all of those verses he said, "Where are all of the people he healed now? The answer was that they all eventually died from something. Even their prayer for healing wasn't answered at some point. It was a great reminder that even supernatural healing is temporary and the only eternal fix for any Illness is ultimately salvation in Christ and eternity in heaven. I hope this encourages someone!

You and God will say the same thing to eachother face to face crying and wiping eachother tears, “my kid died too.” Even to those who have had an abortion will say the same as God, “i sent my child to die.” All parent’s experience the worst pain in the world in losing their child. That cross… i have seen it carried in so many ways. Most soldiers say after everything seen even in war, “A parent losing their child is the worst.” It becomes so pointless at that point. There is only the creator left as a reason. It never gets easier or lighter. But i have heard it all my life, “My kid died of…” you fill in the blank. You the echo of nothingness in their voice, and every fiber of their being. And there is hope. I pray everyone gives patience and understanding to you. It never good but it is always going to get well. No bad is not turned to good. All becomes good. If a tattoo is on the docket get a phoenix. Resurrection, here we come!

I spent years being angry and running from God for not healing our son of mental health and drug addiction issues. Fentanyl took his life two years ago. Our son is now healed and perfect. God is kind.

My wife had 15 miscarriages before our miracle was born. My parents died a year apart from terrible diseases. Why doesn't matter because God is sovereign. Trust him.

Most real song I've heard in a while. Romans 2:4 says..."Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?" As a recovering addict, these lyrics hit home hard. I've thought these thoughts and prayed these prayers. May I never forget that God's Kindness is intended to draw me to my face in repentance.
@@ColeTanner88 Yes I am still recovering. Now, I have been regenerated by the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I have been set free from the law of sin and death as Paul writes. However, this does not mean that I don't still struggle with the temptations of those old vices. That's what I mean by "recovering". I would even say that as God sanctifies us in our walk with Him that we become more aware of the sinful flesh that we still live in this side of Heaven. Paul became more aware of his flesh as He wrote his epistles. He even calls himself the chief of sinners. So I hear you. The law of sin and death - I'm absolutely delivered from that! But I still live in flesh that wants to war against the Spirit of God. All I'm saying is the more I read the Word of God and grow up in Him, the more aware I am of what my sinful flesh is capable of. It must be crucified with Christ daily.
This is such a RAW and truthful song. The lyrics are something a lot of us "Christians" don't say out loud, and it needs to be spoken of more often. Doubt, and going through valleys are very real things for everyone. I've been in the spot wondering why He heals some people, and not others. I have had three babies born with congenital heart defects. He always has a purpose, and I'm so thankful that all along my life journey, through all of my own human struggles, all He has ever been was KIND.
Losing my autistic son at 34 was so devastating. I can't imagine losing a baby even though I went through a miscarriage. There are many difficult situations in life but God has been faithful & loving even when I don't deserve it. Thank you Jesus.
The line "And if he is how is he choosing who and who he doesn't heal" hit so hard, because I've gone through that stage when I lost my friend when I was 10 years old. I've done everything that was stated in the chorus part, but to realize all along that he has only been kind, I just break. I've lived my life in depression, borderline suicide, but since my senior year in high school and after a life changing camp (FUGE camp), I've made my way back to Christ. When you look back, that's all you can really ever see. He was kind, patient, etc. This song is what I've needed for a long time and I'm glad that I've heard this and have a very strong faith in Christ again, and even stronger before I turned away for 6 years. For anyone who is willing to listen, I would like to point out that God does not work like this. He does not unexplainably take people from the earth he does not break up marriages or sit back while you go through a relapse. We have more control in this world than most people are willing to admit. Now Satan is the one who does all of those terrible things and has manipulated the world into thinking that God is that much in control of the world. Now The Lord can absolutely 100% any day of the week do those things. But he doesn't because he's a loving God who loves you as a person but has also given us free will. That is why it hurts him so much when we make stupid decisions or allow the enemy to control us and then blame it on God. I just want anyone who is willing to listen to hear that. If you feel like you were being attacked and things are being taken away from you at an unreasonable rate, there's a good chance that the enemy has a stronghold on you and or your family and I would look into something called Deliverance. Because you can break those things off you and your life so easy and so fast if you are willing.
What you're saying is true, but it is not mutually exclusive to what this song is saying. Corey is singing about the personal experience of being in it. He never says we can't be delivered. And sometimes God's answer to our prayers is "no," or "not yet," because He is sovereign and there's a bigger picture we can't see. Also, things like marriage ending and relapses have a lot to do with the free will of others, as you were saying. But sometimes the answer to prayers for deliverance does not come right away, and it's not because we don't have enough faith.
I have a failed engagement of 12 years, I also lost a child pre birth, I have also relapses multiple multiple times, and I know that I was not always a good person so this song really hits home for me. Thank you. Good bless

My firstborn was killed in a traffic accident when someone pulled out in front of his motorcycle. He was 35. He was just out of the Navy, he and his wife just had their 5th baby, and she was just filled with the Spirit 2 months prior. Why? Why. Earth shattering for us who remained. But God knows what we don't know. In His presence, He will wipe away all tears. Yes tears in heaven. But He will wipe them all away. To everyone who has had the reactions to life's hardships described in this song - and at times that would be all of us - Our God IS ultimately VERY VERY KIND. Amen to that.

I needed this song. Two of my grand babies were stillborn in 2013 and 2015. Since then I’ve had a faith crisis. Your song is exactly where I’ve been for almost ten years. I’ve run from Jesus, I’ve been angry and I believed Jesus was nowhere near. I felt like I was in a deep, dark hole and Jesus was nowhere to be found. Amazingly, through your song and others, I realized Jesus was in that hole sitting next to me being kind. I’m now trying to piece my faith together by worshipping and even though I don’t understand, Jesus will never leave me! He’s kind even when I don’t deserve it.

Then last year, I lost my 47 year old husband to colon cancer. We had 42 days from diagnosis until he died. I have never felt so very alone. But still, God has been kind. That’s is so true crystal, yes it is the ugly truth but on the flip side we all should realize that it is our life, our story, our puzzle being put in place, our healing happening in front of our eyes, we are all, each one of us is that one, one of the 99 that were lost and Jesus comes after us each one at a time, we are all one of the 99 and he welcomes us back every single time. He’s always tapping us on the shoulder in hope that once we might turn and give him that same love in return. Cory talks about that in the live version of Reckless love. So I am in a new modern Christian band now and we’re call “of 99” and we all did this for so long, running from Jesus doing our own thing but I have to say once Jesus has been introduced into your mind, you can run all you want to but he’s always there to take you back in. This is the most beautiful song I think I have ever heard. My band will be doing this one live on this Sunday evening for a recovery group called Freshwind in Athens Ga. Such a blessing

But he never stopped coming to me and i love and miss him. I just need to know he is with Jesus now. His dad would not let him go to church. I pray God looks at the heart ans sees how much love Ricky had in him. But it's me that is hurt and mad. I cussed God and blamed him for letting my son pass away. I know i need help but right now I dont get comfort from anybody .All I want to know that Ricky is with God right now and I will see my baby boy again. I don't know how and dont want to live on a world that my baby boy is not in. So Im begging please pray for me and let Jesus let me know my son is ok. That he is with Jesus. What I can tell you is that, it can destroy you. What I didn't know at the time, that I know now, is that it's not at all that He doesn't give you more than you can handle. The truth is, God is with you in the good times AND the bad. He gives us strength when we have nothing left to fight with. Losing a child is not the way it's supposed to be at all. You and God will say the same thing to eachother face to face crying and wiping eachother tears, “my kid died too.” Even to those who have had an abortion will say the same as God, “i sent my child to die.” All parent’s experience the worst pain in the world in losing their child. That cross… i have seen it carried in so many ways.
Most soldiers say after everything seen even in war, “A parent losing their child is the worst.” It becomes so pointless at that point. There is only the creator left as a reason. It never gets easier or lighter. But i have heard it all my life, “My kid died of…” you fill in the blank. You the echo of nothingness in their voice, and every fiber of their being. And there is hope. I pray everyone gives patience and understanding to you. It never good but it is always going to get well. No bad is not turned to good. All becomes good. If a tattoo is on the docket get a phoenix. Resurrection, here we come!

As a recovering addict, these lyrics hit home hard. I've thought these thoughts and prayed these prayers. May I never forget that God's Kindness is intended to draw me to my face in repentance.

@@ColeTanner88 Yes I am still recovering. Now, I have been regenerated by the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I have been set free from the law of sin and death as Paul writes. However, this does not mean that I don't still struggle with the temptations of those old vices. That's what I mean by "recovering".
I would even say that as God sanctifies us in our walk with Him that we become more aware of the sinful flesh that we still live in this side of Heaven.
Paul became more aware of his flesh as He wrote his epistles. He even calls himself the chief of sinners.
So I hear you. The law of sin and death - I'm absolutely delivered from that! But I still live in flesh that wants to war against the Spirit of God.
All I'm saying is the more I read the Word of God and grow up in Him, the more aware I am of what my sinful flesh is capable of. It must be crucified with Christ daily.

This is such a RAW and truthful song. The lyrics are something a lot of us "Christians" don't say out loud, and it needs to be spoken of more often. Doubt, and going through valleys are very real things for everyone. I've been in the spot wondering why He heals some people, and not others. I have had three babies born with congenital heart defects. He always has a purpose, and I'm so thankful that all along my life journey, through all of my own human struggles, all He has ever been was KIND.

The line "And if he is how is he choosing who and who he doesn't heal" hit so hard, because I've gone through that stage when I lost my friend when I was 10 years old. I've done everything that was stated in the chorus part, but to realize all along that he has only been kind, I just break. I've lived my life in depression, borderline suicide, but since my senior year in high school and after a life changing camp (FUGE camp), I've made my way back to Christ. When you look back, that's all you can really ever see. He was kind, patient, etc. This song is what I've needed for a long time and I'm glad that I've heard this and have a very strong faith in Christ again, and even stronger before I turned away for 6 years. For anyone who is willing to listen, I would like to point out that God does not work like this. He does not unexplainably take people from the earth he does not break up marriages or sit back while you go through a relapse. We have more control in this world than most people are willing to admit. Now Satan is the one who does all of those terrible things and has manipulated the world into thinking that God is that much in control of the world. Now The Lord can absolutely 100% any day of the week do those things. But he doesn't because he's a loving God who loves you as a person but has also given us free will. That is why it hurts him so much when we make stupid decisions or allow the enemy to control us and then blame it on God. I just want anyone who is willing to listen to hear that. If you feel like you were being attacked and things are being taken away from you at an unreasonable rate, there's a good chance that the enemy has a stronghold on you and or your family and I would look into something called Deliverance. Because you can break those things off you and your life so easy and so fast if you are willing.

What you're saying is true, but it is not mutually exclusive to what this song is saying. Corey is singing about the personal experience of being in it. He never says we can't be delivered. And sometimes God's answer to our prayers is "no," or "not yet," because He is sovereign and there's a bigger picture we can't see. Also, things like marriage ending and relapses have a lot to do with the free will of others, as you were saying. But sometimes the answer to prayers for deliverance does not come right away, and it's not because we don't have enough faith.

My firstborn was killed in a traffic accident when someone pulled out in front of his motorcycle. He was 35. He was just out of the Navy, he and his wife just had their 5th baby, and she was just filled with the Spirit 2 months prior.

I needed this song. Two of my grand babies were stillborn in 2013 and 2015. Since then I’ve had a faith crisis. Your song is exactly where I’ve been for almost ten years. I’ve run from Jesus, I’ve been angry and I believed Jesus was nowhere near. I felt like I was in a deep, dark hole and Jesus was nowhere to be found. Amazingly, through your song and others, I realized Jesus was in that hole sitting next to me being kind. I’m now trying to piece my faith together by worshipping and even though I don’t understand, Jesus will never leave me! He’s kind even when I don’t deserve it.

Then last year, I lost my 47 year old husband to colon cancer. We had 42 days from diagnosis until he died. I have never felt so very alone. But still, God has been kind. That’s is so true crystal, yes it is the ugly truth but on the flip side we all should realize that it is our life, our story, our puzzle being put in place, our healing happening in front of our eyes, we are all, each one of us is that one, one of the 99 that were lost and Jesus comes after us each one at a time, we are all one of the 99 and he welcomes us back every single time. He’s always tapping us on the shoulder in hope that once we might turn and give him that same love in return. Cory talks about that in the live version of Reckless love. So I am in a new modern Christian band now and we’re call “of 99” and we all did this for so long, running from Jesus doing our own thing but I have to say once Jesus has been introduced into your mind, you can run all you want to but he’s always there to take you back in. This is the most beautiful song I think I have ever heard. My band will be doing this one live on this Sunday evening for a recovery group called Freshwind in Athens Ga. Such a blessing

All I want is to hold and kiss my baby boy. I'd give my life for him. Just to hear his voice and hold him again. There is nothing left for me. How do I live in a world without my baby boy. I LOVED HIM BEFORE I EVER NEW OR SEEN HIM. He was so loving. He tried to help anybody. His heart was made of gold. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY TAKE SOMEONE WHO TRY TO HELP AND BE GOOD. HE WAS THE ONLY ONE OF ALL MY 3 BOYS THAT CARED ABOUT ME . I AM ON DISABILITY BUT HE CAME TO HELP ME IN THE RAIN,SNOW SUNNY DAY. IT Didn't matter. His dad would beat him if he knew he came around me. So he had to sneak to come take me to the doctor. He would go get me food or anything I needed to do. His heart was so hurt. His dad always to so bad about me. It broke my son's heart. But he never stopped coming to me and i love and miss him. I just need to know he is with Jesus now. His dad would not let him go to church. I pray God looks at the heart ans sees how much love Ricky had in him. But it's me that is hurt and mad. I cussed God and blamed him for letting my son pass away. I know i need help but right now I dont get comfort from anybody .All I want to know that Ricky is with God right now and I will see my baby boy again. I don't know how and dont want to live on a world that my baby boy is not in. So Im begging please pray for me and let Jesus let me know my son is ok. That he is with Jesus. I love you with everything in me. I miss and LOVE you so much I will love you forever I love you for always. As long as I am living my baby you will be. I hope Jesus comes soon. I also lost my son. He was 21 and his wife was 20. They both died in a car crash 10 years ago. Their twin daughters were 6 months old at the time. Praise God we still have the girls. What I can tell you is that, it can destroy you. What I didn't know at the time, that I know now, is that it's not at all that He doesn't give you more than you can handle. The truth is, God is with you in the good times AND the bad. He gives us strength when we have nothing left to fight with. Losing a child is not the way it's supposed to be at all. There will always be that missing piece of your heart. But God will help you find the way. Pray. Listen to Christian music. Whatever helps, He is there, waiting for you.

We recently lost a family member. My brother and this is devastating. God gave us 65 years with him and we're grateful for thar.
