Very, very, good advice, we are East of Milam, just a couple of miles south of where the tornado hit Holly Park. Glad y’all are doing OK now.

Very good points. Here in Jasper we caught the very outer bands and thought we had dodged the bullet. Wrong! EF-2 tornado can do a heck of a lot of damage. Having been without power for nearly a month after Rita, I went with a natural gas Generac. Best purchase/prep I have made. If only for the peace of mind knowing it’s there.

Glad you and the family are ok. You have had a rough year weather-wise. Every since the Blizzard hit use in 93 I've been prepared and stay that way. To me, it's impossible to be too prepared you just never know. Stay Safe Will.

I do some tree work. I can say we've seen a lot more large trees just blowing over with really small root balls. Don't know if its the draught we had, but it is happening.

I am glad and thank the Good Lord that you are well and well set up for these interesting times.
Here I was all happy with my new WC Sloyd knife and my wee projects - I got a message from a friend saying looks like you're lucky the weather passed you by... He sent some photos that looked cataclysmic . I had no idea what was going on even fairly close by to me in New England. It is quite hot here, and humid, that I noticed.
It strikes me that you are a man who walks the walk when it comes to this prepping matter. Thank you for the simple, sound counsel. I'm listening.

So true test your plan out and make changes before power goes out so you know what you have works to power any medical devices and survival things like way to stay warm in wenter and somewhat cool in summer like portable fans etc.

As I was an Apprintance electrician here in TX, I would totaly recomend instaling one of those manunal lockout plates on your panel and adding a gen outlet. Then pick the brakers that run your main thinks like your fridege and an outlets and a few lights that the Gen you have can handle. Yes I know the way older housees that have smaller older pannels and wired with a tone of stuff on on fewer brakers are hard to do. Cheepest and saffest way to do it with out adding a seprate gen pannel.

Glad to hear your okay. I'd really like to have an outdoor propane generator. We are on natural gas here

A/C with generator needs a Soft Start.
Easy Start 364 / Soft Starter. Then you can use a smaller generator. Glad to see you weathered the storm.

Bro, sorry ya dealings. Hillbilly here in WV. My 2 cents for your parents, if ya can get them a whole house generator. A Generac or Cummins, ECT have a propane tank set to run it and auto kick on switch. Yeah it's expensive in the beginning however it's valuable when needed. As fer you I figure you can go into camp mode with your van. You smacked the nail on the head about water! If you don't have a water source your in big trouble. Food can be gotten however water is a must have and ya don't wanna have to spend tons of resources to get it. Im glad y'all made it thru. I grew up loosing power all the time here in WV. We loved power outages because it was peaceful and we were prepared. I grew up old world with modern conveniences lol. Best luck Bro. People who haven't lived it don't kno"Know" 👍. Hopefully they will heed your words. Again WATER supply !!!!!!I is the biggest for me sort term & long.

You need at least 1.5 X the running watts for starting power on electric appliances ! 2X for longer service life of generator ! Heaviest load is on startup of appliances !

Glad you and your family doing good after that. So you like Jackreys over the bluetti's? Asking cause I heard they were not that good over the Bluetti's From what I watched from youtuber reviews that Ecoflow, then Bluetti and on the bottom of the tear is Jackrey. Just wanted your thoughts on them. Im looking to get something bigger at some point, Geting my first one for my small stuff like a fan and light and charge devices is the Bluetti AC2A. Yes I know its a baby one but it's a gift from my sis.

@@marlawhite3682 I started with Jackery so I have more cords, solar panels etc… for Jackery’s not saying they are better, really haven’t seen much difference in quality between them. But I do not do lab test or keep log books on each ones ability. There are many TH-cam videos on each brand to make an informed decision on which brand is right for you. I just recommend everyone get one or several regardless of brand. Appreciate your view and question.

@@wcknives Thanks!! Glad to get your thoughts. We just went through a real bad storm end of June and lost power for a week!!! Think goodness my family I live with had one of those little Predator Generators It helped us run there 2 fridges, fans and keep phones carged and in my garage apt a fan, light for me. it might been around the same storm that hit Houstion with the Deretcho winds.
