  • One of Bach's most popular compositions. A short and catchy dance piece that demonstrates Bach's mastery of counterpoint.

    • BWV 996, Lute Suite No...
Originally written for the lute, which is an early predecessor to the guitar. Though Bach wasn't a lute player he surely would have had familiarity with the instrument as it was very prominent in Germany in his day. Bach did enjoy playing the lute harpsichord, which is basically a harpsichord that sounds like a lute. It's thought that he wrote these collections of lute works to be enjoyed on both instruments. Guitar players have naturally seized these amazing compositions and made their claim to them.
The sound is subpar because I lost the audio file from my main microphones. It's all smart phone. I almost scrapped the whole recording session, which includes all of BWV 996, but I kinda like the aesthetic. That said, I will be more mindful in the future to actually export my files from Audacity before closing.
    Soli Deo Gloria!
    Guitar: Hanika 54PF
    Strings: D'Addario EJ45

I can play this on my flute but the flute can play only one note at a time.
