Alvin! You are so much more and a “normal Asian guy running around”. You are an amazing story teller and super inspirational. Love that you ran by feel and trusted your body on the day. Cannot wait to see the outcome when run by feel and push to the max. Unstoppable! 💪🏾
Nice recap Alvin. I think you ran very smart and had a stellar time, especially in light of coming off of that massive 100k Ultra. I have a local running friend who has run the Olympic Trials 2x and had an awesome time of 2:18 and change at NYC this year. He missed is PR by a minute, but had the best attitude about his effort. He said, "I didn't want to make a good marathon turn into a bad marathon trying to make it a great marathon. There will be other races." He was right on and so are you. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Thanks for the recap Alvin. When I ran 2:49 I did it after a full 18 week build and had perfect conditions. It's impressive that you did this after a shorter build. You'll crush it next time!
Again, you did amazing at CIM and so proud of you for a great race. Maybe not a PR race, but it was a successful race. Unfortunately I wasn't able to perform at my best and not BQ there due to some injuries making setbacks in my training and had to lower my pace for the race. However next year I'll hopefully get the BQ I want in LA Marathon, OC Marathon and maybe CIM again, we'll see and maybe see you there too. 🎉🎉🎉
Great recap. You inspiring me to work harder. And a big shout out to your ride or die brother!!!

Love your movies, Alvin!

Ohhhh!! I'm sure you'll get it! Cheering for ya. See ya in LA and OC :)
Great recap! So you monitored your HR during the race and adjusted paces off that?
Thanks Matt! Mmm, not really...the HR is something I just use as reference throughout the race. During this race, I was mainly going by feel.
