It's like everything he said in this video goes against what Arnold said in his "train for mass" video. Arnold said he would train until failure and every set he was looking forward to every set every rep, because he knew every rep made him closer to his goals. If your not looking forward to the next set and not looking forward to pushing your body, you should question why your there in the first place
asd fgh not true at all... it is a lot easier to sit on your ass all day and night, playing video games or watching shit. Way more difficult to get a fat ass up and work it all off.
SullyGoesOff that’s actually not true because you have to eat an insane amount of calories and if you don’t to get fat it has to be healthy. Gets insanely repetitive. Fat people get to just cut and eat a small portion of what we eat but practically the same food.
@@MassApeeal people have different metabolism rates and skinny people usually have a faster one, as well as fat people have a slower one. Both categories have their own problems: if you're skinny, you burn through the calories faster and there's no calory surplus left to transform it into fat, if you're fat, your body is keeping most of those calories stored more than burned
I’m still skinny but I’ve noticed a huge difference in my physique and muscle from when I started 5 months ago. I just need to eat ALOT more but I have a really fast metabolism and I work outside in the heat so I’m sweating all day!
I'm 140lbs and 5'10". Never been able to build muscle, have an absurd metabolism, and no matter how much I would workout it seemed to do nothing; I would eat maybe a little healthier but after failing to see results always gave up a few months later. I developed a weirdly small bubble-gut and gained 20 lbs when I quit sports due to injury and continued to eat poorly, around 7 years ago. It was fat weight not muscle. I lost the weight by eating less but the gut mostly stayed. For about 6 weeks now I've been taking your advice to heart, training weekdays for a couple hours each and eating healthy and have watched so many of your videos on proper technique; and I'm already seeing a difference. I haven't gained much weight but I can see muscles that I couldn't before, my gut is shrinking, and for the for first time in my life I have "pecs". I can already see that I'm filling out my shirts more. Jeff, THANK YOU, on behalf of every "hard gainer".
Patrick O'Brien why don't you focus on 1 task at a time, my goal is to gain Muscles triceps or biceps I'm going to do this twice a day. once when I hit the shower in the night I'm gonna work out and in the morning.
Hey Jeff! As a physical trainer for the last 20 years in Santos FC (soccer club), in Brazil, I want to congratulate you for this great video. I've been following your channel for quite a while and I admire the way with which you bring science into training. That's my approach also. Keep up the good work. Best regards. If it's possible I'd like to visit your studio/gym and meet up with you. Take care.
"Stop having a fear of those hard exercises. Those hard exercises are the things you fear the most and the things that will change you the most". That absolute truth. You are very motivational
Yeah he’s great on exercises. But terrible on nutrition. *Incredibly* carb and glucose tolerant. 99% would get fat eating m&m’s for example, and not just fail to build muscle.
Most famous quotes ever: “Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute, hour, day, or even a year but eventually it will subside and success will take its place.” “No pain, no gain”
over 15 years ago I had a Walmart shirt. I always thought it said "Pain is weather leaving the body" and had little sweat droplets around "weather" . It was always the weirdest shirt. I wasn't until years later I actually stopped and looked closely at it and realized it said weakness, not weather.
This talk wasn't just about workout/exercise. It was talk about life and being confident! This gave me hope about my future and of course the exercise. Thank you so much Jeff, you're a God. Seriously.
+Mark Richardson I've always been impressed by O'Hearn's physique, but sorry...he ain't natural either. The legs are a dead giveaway. Someone like Greg Plitt always seemed more natural. Because he says so? Lance Armstrong always said so too and look at him now. Don't be a sheep.
Mark Richardson Mike Chang taught me to never do cardio because it'l keep me from getting a shredded 6 pack; I should just do after burn training. He's an American hero!
My two main mistakes were lack of sleep and not eating enough (not being in a caloric surplus). I always thought I was eating enough and was disappointed because my weight stagnated. Then I got my first diet plan created (I think it was from website called Dietarize). I realised that my previous food intake was way below my needs, although I thought I'm good. At the beginning it was hard to eat 3200 kcal in a day, but I got used to it. I started noticing real gains and it felt amazing. I wish I'd understood the importance of diet earlier.
I started upping my calorie intake by getting snacks in i gained 40 lbs over a few months, but now ive not been gaining muscle and alot more fat what am i doing wrong
I love Jeff’s energy. It’s not too wild and intense where some of these kids won’t understand and they won’t really listen and it’s also not too quiet where no one will take him seriously
It's tough being an ectomorph. I've been bodybuilding for a year and haven't gained too much muscle. I have to eat 3500 calories per day to build muscle. I've tried 3000 and it just isn't enough for me

Great message! When I was 9 years old I fell into the TV trap - sedentary lifestyle and junk food. I became "stuck" in that pattern which affected my outlook on life, grades and who my friends were. Finally, in my senior year in high school I decided to try jogging. Within a week i was feeling better about my physical self. This spilled over into eating better, running in races, lifting weights, feeling more confident in every part of my life, even in dating and deciding to go to college. It literally changed my life and I have never looked back. In retrospect I went from existing in life to being responsible for (in control of) my life. Keep up your good work!

I would use steroids but i don't know who to get them from, how to used them, wtf is a beta blocker, my temper is already a think i have to stay on top of daily, i already have enough acne, etc on and on. Steroids seem like a pain in the ass. (look you ded in the eyes) Pun fully intended.
@@JKidder18 You dont always get acne from them, some people have no side effects but some have significant side effects. Assuming your still young, I wouldn't recommend them. There are safe legal and less powerful steroid-like chemicals like laxogenin, disogenin acetate etc. Plant sterols have weak yet still measurable androgenic activity, so they do work to a lesser extent. Those are safe, but anything beyond that is a risk. You dont wanna mess with your hormones.
@@JKidder18 Honestly as a guy who who has used them......Don't! If you have testosterone in a normal range you can destroy yourself forever! You can permanently shut down your HPT axis. You will feel like garbage for the rest of your life. This didn't happen to me because I used under a endocrinologist for a medical reason. Without constant blood work and a doctor it can get really dangerous to your long term health and well being. Not to mention substances like deca can screw up your sex life permanently.

I just lifted for sports, and got pretty big, but I did sweat like a fucking pig and work until I felt like death every time. Don't overdo it, but, that is the kind of mindset you need though
He is right. I train for 1 hour intensely with good form. Use good form, take 30 second breaks every 3-4 exercises. It makes you more conditioned cardio wise/endurance wise.
@@andreaw7787 What I recommend is doing three different exercises for example: Shoulders 10 reps, Biceps 10 reps, then Triceps 10 reps. Take a 30-45 second break. Hit it again. After 2 of the same moves each, move on to a different type of shoulder/bicep/tricep exercises. Repeat then repeat 👍
Magnetic Lifestyle I only do shoulders on their own day. Sometimes I hit a little bit of shoulders on leg day. Or shoulders with traps. I found that I see more results this way. I tried doing shoulders incorporated with bicep/back day, doesn’t work for me. But you’re absolutely right with the routines. That’s what I do.

Started at 15 years old and am now 62I and 5’2”. I’m over the heavy weights. I go and give 100% effort and I love how Jeff drives that home. I went from 99 lbs at 15 to 135. At that weight I was able to hit a 315 bench, a 410 squat, and a 430 deadlift. I was overseas then in the Air Force with a gym down the hall from my shop(I was in wide and communications). I managed to up my bench to 330 at a weight of 162. Now I am 178 and lifting much lighter due to arthritis in shoulders, knees, and back, but I light with intensity. I’m doing the ab exercises from one of your videos. I get thoroughly exhausted. I have lost a few inches in my waist from working out consistently lately. I’m a teacher, I work 10-14 hours during the year. A lot of time on paperwork and preparation at home during the year. I landscape and maintain my yard (ponds and large beds) and use a push mower which all provides a lot of cardio. So summer gives me some time to get back on track. Look forward to more of your videos. I especially like how you explain things so thoroughly.

Lol, that BS. When I bench press x weight for a true max of 6, then I cant wait until the next set for a max of 3 with higher weight.
@@CenTralAct Jeff obviously meant it as in, don't think of the next set casually and take the whole workout as just a "chore".

If you were painfully skinny then I’m excruciatingly skinny 😂
Yeah...135lbs at 6ft. My shoulder bones stick out more than the muscle/fat in my arms.
Better then being fat
asd fgh not true at all... it is a lot easier to sit on your ass all day and night, playing video games or watching shit.

Short-term, I would hope

Same thing i have been doing n still going...
30 second breaks between reps or exercises?🤔 I’m trying to figure out a good rest period between reps. How short is too short?

Look forward to more of your videos. I especially like how you explain things so thoroughly.

Hell yeah man. I'm only 155-160 currently at 6' tall with a weak 345lbs deadlift max
atleast ur in the 150 area im 130 at 6 feet tall.
Cameron Forbes hey boss you're good don't sweat it. I've been lifting just over a year now, and I'm up to 160lbs of lean mass. Just stick with it bro you'll get there, and remember to take pictures monthly so you can see your progression
how did you not gain a lot of bodyfat
Your videos aren't just informative but motivational too.. its like you really find a way to merge them together in a way that counts :)
Imagine you have a problem called "overtraining" bro I can't even get my ass out of the couch and ppl have problems like overtraining
You're not motivated enough, find a resolve or some reason to live
@@bader4320 true stuff. He's gotta get addicted to the endorphins like us
i mean at first it's mainly endorphin and dopamine but if you commit yourself to the regime you don't need them anymore, It's pure discipline 💪
I watched a video from Jeff Nippard this one time about one of his friends and clients who got Rhabdomyolysis from training too hard. Fucking unbelievable dedication you have to have for that kind of thing to even be a risk factor.
For reference, Rhabdomyolysis is a condition that essentially means that your muscles are so damaged it’s potentially fatal. Usually only seen among people who get into violently bad traffic accidents.
Overtraining is painfully real. Once you get going you want to do it all ffs
watching this while eating a western bacon cheeseburger
