Great tutorial! To bring masking tape along, you can stick strips of it to a piece of wax paper.

Always fun to see what other people pack in their travel art kits, especially for art journaling. One suggestion i have for saving space is , if you take a sturdy piece of rounded plastic, like an old key card or something of that nature, you can wrap your washi tape around it, and it takes up almost no room. Depending on the size of the plastic and the washi, you can get several different ones on one card. Even if you wrap it around a bunch of times it still saves a lot of space. Have you thought about taking a playing card from a deck of cards and wrapping some of your masking tape around it so you can take some masking tape because it doesn't stick to the slick card AND you can slide it into your wallet. Takes up no space hardly at all.
