As to the combined harvesting-threshing of rice/palay, we already have adopted in the Philippines esp. in the rice-producing regions of the country. Adoption started in the early 2000. In the province of Isabela (Region 2), there are commercial rice millers there that have invested in rice sorting machines that immediately separates whole from broken milled rice grains. It's not yet widespread as it is really very expensive to acquire & set-up such a facility. But then again, we're going there. Please continue to support farmers like myself as we effort to produce food so that all of us may have something nourishing to put on our tables.
