At COP 28 HE ambassador Albon Ishoda of the Republic of Marshall Islands said in an interview that when it comes to the international maritime organization has amplify voice in this space as a lot of vessels are registered in the marshal islands which gives them a considerable influence in this context and space.
Ambassador Albon said the Marshall Islands understands the importance of shipping on the global economy but also recognize that this sector makes up to 3% of global emission of CO2.
One way to help the sector stay committed to the 1.5 on the Paris accord is for each ton there is 100 fee which can go to climate reduction projects but also go to the nations the pacific that is most affected by climate change.
