- We cruise the Hatteras Yacht up the Intracoastal Waterway from Beaufort to Coinjock, North Carolina. We anchor in Alligator River than hit some rough waters on the Albemarle Sound before settling in with a delicious Prime Rib dinner at Coinjock Marina.

We anchored there about a month ago (early October) and had a lovely night. Best stars ever. We were headed south so had enjoyed our prime rib the night before. Must have just missed u!
This was one of your best reports.
Thanks!
I love finding these older videos to fill the space between your new releases. Hope to see ya tonight on your 1/1/24 Live. Cheers and Enjoy the Ride, Bell.
I cringe when I watch our older videos😁. But is great having the visual record.
@@tryingnottosink9107 I’m not sure why you would cringe, the views are breathtaking and the music was perfect, but I get it, I am my worst critic on my videos as well.
Have a great day and hopefully tax season goes by fast for y’all.
Great video..looks like a lot of fun..
Thanks! We had a blast.
Thanks for the ride along , sometimes a nice free fresh water rinsing off from above is not a bad thing. Nice edit and nice clip thanks again. Our boat is still on the hard as the water is still hard here also.lol.but ice is fixing to melt out soon. You allow us to enjoy boating from afar.
If only it would rain for just 15 minutes after every time we reach port!
Beautifullllllll Video 👏👏👏
Thank you very much
A lot of rain in this video. Nice Edit on this one! CHEERS!
Yes, thanks
Very relaxing video and music...well done!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love it. We stayed at the inn/marina in Oriental on the way down, after Okracoke. We came down the Dismal Swamp Canal instead of the Virginia cut, but our draft is only 3.5 and a much smaller boat.
We are in Clarence Town, heading to Mayaguana tomorrow night. Thanks for the great video!
We are hoping to hit Clarence Town and Mayaguana on our trip this spring. Thanks for watching!
Nice to see areas I've been through. Enjoyed this.
Glad you liked the video!
You guys living wonderful life
Stay together stay safe guys
Love you guys
Thanks. Cheers!
Man I love your videos. Its so beautiful to see. Looks like a great way to live.
It is a great way to live, but not necessarily easy.
The Mayor of Eastown is an excellent watch. Easy to binge watch for sure
We agree.
Great music
Lovely!
Nice video 👍👍 see ya on the next one 🙋
Thanks!
I love the story. We're changing from cruising sail to cruising power.
Good luck. We love power!
Let me know if you ever dock/anchor in Deltaville. Dinner and drinks are on me.
Ed I am proud of you! You pronounced Norfolk Correctly! 😁😁😁, if your boat had feelings it would be said to be so close to it’s place of the keel laying being on Neuse river. You are in my back yard where I grew up on ICW in Chesapeake. 😁🛫
I was wondering why the wheel kept pulling to port on our way across. I guess she was missing her birthplace.
Loved the video. I grew up near Belhaven and run these waters often. Glad you enjoyed your passage.
Glad you enjoyed it
Good video! On one of your trips stop into Edenton , Nc , don’t forget Elizabeth City.
One of these days we will.
Wow, great video. Makes me want to go boating.
You should!
Excellent excellent music skipper!
Glad you like it!
Nice. I particularly enjoyed this episode because it was a little different in that it focused on the beauty of the area you were cruising through without in-town hustle and bustle. Rain - it happens, and that’s when you nap or repair something and make a warm soup.
Anchoring instead of restaurants. It reminded me of the self sufficient aspect of yachting where you make the party in your own floating home and enjoy it on its own. Dinner looked spectacular. Don’t get me wrong…. I love good restaurants and a lively night out for sure, but dinner in with no one around is one of the best parts of boating sometimes, I think.
And big bonus…. not one, but Two Rogers Outs!! Sweeeet!!
And it seems like your videography is getting even better. Very enjoyable to watch and live vicariously. Glad you are sharing it with us.
Thanks. We also enjoy both anchoring and exploring the towns. We have a couple favorite anchor spots on the east coast, but do most of our anchoring in the Bahamas. We are leaving for another trip south in about a month. We are hoping to take our time this year.
I enjoyed the video immensely! Cedar Point and Swansboro are my stomping grounds. Maybe I will see you ride by the house one year. Best wishes! 🙏
We'll wave as we go by!
@@tryingnottosink9107 you've got it. Look for the grey single story house with the big Trump flag flying proudly near the Emerald Isle Bridge. Safe travels.
Good stuff... Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Wow it looks like there is a good cook aboard.
Not me (Ed)! 😁
9:02 to 11:17 was breathtakingly beautiful and the music was flawless. I know you were on the ICW but where exactly was that footage taken? The music was so appropriate for that segment. Someone did a beautiful job of editing. So nice to see you are getting so much use out of your beautiful Hatteras. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
North Carolina, between Oriental and Coinjock. Thanks for your comments. We are glad you enjoyed the video.
Love your videos
Thanks for watching!
Huge improvement over your previous videos. Excellent work! Keep up the great videos!
Glad you like them!
U remind me of my conflicts with conflicts of 8am to 6pm of work ..if got a 40ft sailboat not have width of boat u have but save alot on fuel..even if motoring..
And we'll have fun, fun, fun till the bottle runs dry again!
great vid.. glad to see windlass working good.
Thanks!
Awesome
Thanks!
Awesome vedio
Thanks 🤗
We rode out a hurricane in Belhaven, NC. It is a friendly small town. You should stop there on your next trip. I think you would like it.
We stopped once and could not find an open restaurant. It seemed too sleepy for us.
Now your really in my (current) stomping ground! Great video. Another good marina to visit is River Dunes just past Oriental. I visit both Oriental Marina & Inn and River Dunes marina once or twice per year. Our boating clubs (Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron and the Cypress Landing Yacht Club) are planning to anchor out almost exactly where you did on the Alligator River later in the 2022 season. Very nice to see your video covering that anchorage. BTW - we locals pronounce it Pam-li-co (not Pamleeco); sorry not sure how to type the pronunciation, lol.
We'll have to check out River Dunes on our next trip. Perhaps in May.
I wished you filmed coming out of the Alligator River into the Sound, especially since it was rough. That is a very tricky spot with sandbags. I would like to see you navigate it. Maybe on the way back?
Sandbars
Sometimes the sound is calm. On this particular day we had 3-4 footers. We don't mind but the smaller boats can have a hard time with it.
Captain you are constantly fighting to keep that vessel on course did you ever think of maybe getting a rudder alignment on your steering system it seems like that boat does not track well at all please quote me if I am wrong. Love the videos

It looks like you work well together.👍
Thanks 👍
Dude, you always look like you are fighting the wheel, really working it….
The gear ratio is not right on the upper helm. One full turn of the wheel is only 5 degrees on the rudder. On the lower helm it is 10 degrees. So what looks like a big move at the wheel is actually me making a minor course adjustment.
@@tryingnottosink9107 Thanks so much for the reply, I really enjoy your videos, keep the adventures going!
Lovely vlog, cruising up the ICW - don’t go producing a wake now. 😀 Take it easy and stay safe.
That's the plan!
Nice video and music!
Thank you very much!
Man, talk about ''livin' the dream''.
Cheers!
Drinking Bad Bitch Rum on the Alligator River. Good times.
Drinking rum anywhere on the ICW works for us!
Have you ever considered installing a larger rudder to reduce the huge steering changes you have to apply?
I know right? The boat seems to always be wandering, or captain constantly over-correcting
The gear ratio is not right on the upper helm. One full turn of the wheel is only 5 degrees on the rudder. On the lower helm it is 10 degrees. So what looks like a big move at the wheel is actually me making a minor course adjustment.
River Dunes is another option. Great spot, great staff, great restaurant! (Not a sponsor!)
Thanks for the tip!
Love to read the comments! Also get a laugh at folks asking the same question 49 times! Cut and paste answer: 5 degrees on top, 10 degrees below! We're working on it. Love the tint in that water.
Lyn is always teasing me about how many times I need to answer that question. I am going to start filming from the lower helm! 😁
I gotta ask why do you have to turn the wheel so much? I turn mine maybe half a turn every 30 sec on a tight river to maintain a straight heading.

Got a question for you guys. At timestamp 4:35, have u guys thought about redoing all the cushions around the table? Reason I ask is because that cloth looks worn smooth out and plus it probably takes them forever to dry out once they are wet. They have so many different options that you can choose from now a days! Plus it would update the look of that area of your boat tremendously!! Love your channel and keep up the amazing work…..Mark from Grand Lake, Oklahoma!!
P.S. timestamp 5:35-5:44 I absolutely LOVED that footage of your wake just disappearing into the distance!!!!
They probably look worse in our videos. They are actually in very good condition. They are made out of a material that dries very fast, as are the cushions. The carpet is another story. We replaced it in a video that will be out in a week or so.
@@tryingnottosink9107 awesome I can’t wait to watch it!! I have a request lol, could u possibly put in some more footage of your wake disappearing in the distance? Please and thank u!🙏🏼
When the liquor falls out of the liquor cabinet I’m ready to fight lol
We put a secure latch on our liquor cabinet several years ago after a tragedy at sea!
Fight that wheel, almost seems you over correct.
I may over correct from time to time, however, the gear ratio is not right on the upper helm. One full turn of the wheel is only 5 degrees on the rudder. On the lower helm it is 10 degrees. So what looks like a big move at the wheel is actually me making a minor course adjustment.
Love your videos.. Would love to live on a boat, but don't think my $$ will let me. The costs of slips, gas and maintaining in your break down budget helps me understand... Thanks again and Safe Travels.
Its mad how peoples concept of rough waters are... when I am on an offshore vessel in 12m swells
4 footers are rough for the ICW.

Such a nice vibe cooking dinner on the hook with a nice sunset, what's your preferred beverage with a good steak? I have to be honest, my partner is from Argentina so it has to be a decent Malbec for me🍷🍷 Cheers!
Lately, it has been Pinot Noir.
@@tryingnottosink9107 Also very agreeable! But here in the UK Pinot Noir is quite a bit more expensive than a decent Malbec, You are spoilt for choice with California making some great wines! We don't have any good labels in the Uk, so it is all imported and taxed accordingly🤨
why do you keep turning the wheel
The gear ratio is not right on the upper helm. One full turn of the wheel is only 5 degrees on the rudder. On the lower helm it is 10 degrees. So what looks like a big move at the wheel is actually me making a minor course adjustment.
Hey Lynn, what’s the song that’s playing at 11 minutes. That’s a touching song for me.
Not sure. Ed probably knows. He subscribes to a music service that provides music for our channel.
Does your vessel waddle under steerage. You seem to be continually adjusting from port starboard and back?

Thanks for the comments. Sound is a very hard thing for me to handle while editing underway. When back in Philly, I can listen to it on our TV and a good sound system before posting. We do not have a TV on the boat and the laptop has terrible sound.
You better thank that wife for such a fine meal!
That was a throw-together for her! She is a gourmet cook.
Hey captain how you doing. love your videos! I always wonder why you are correcting your steering so much in the ICW? steering leaking? rudders not straight? Too much current? I thought it's pretty much straight on the ICW.
It depends on what you are watching. The ICW is far from straight. We often have cross currents, or when crossing wide bodies, we may get following seas. Our upper helm takes a lot more to turn the boat then the lower helm. We are looking for solutions. It is more a pain in the neck than anything.
Hi there, I don't often comment but I always like and am subscribed. However I gotta ask - why do you always have to fiddle with the wheel? Is there an issue with the boat that causes you to continually adjust left then right. I've been on many boats and have never had to do this. Is it something to do with Hatteras yachts? Don't they make way properly in a straight line? Is it current/water distrubance from other boats? The corridoor you are following can't be that wavy? Apologies I don't mean this in a dissapproving way, just curious. I really enjoy your videos. The ICW/Loop is on my bucket list (with of course a trip over to the bahamas). Thank you for your videos
It depends. Sometimes I am fighting a current or following seas, but it is often because the gear ratio is not right on the upper helm. One full turn of the wheel is only 5 degrees on the rudder. On the lower helm it is 10 degrees. So what looks like a big move at the wheel is actually me making a minor course adjustment.
What are the names of the background songs?
I had the shrimp scampi at Clawsons last weekend and it actually was better than sex.
Hi Ok i got to ASK wont your Boat steer straight as I'm always seeing you make massive turns on the wheel is some thing not right with the steering ?
It depends on what you are watching. We often have cross currents, or when crossing wide bodies, we may get following seas. Our upper helm takes a lot more to turn the boat then the lower helm. We are looking for solutions. It is more a pain in the neck than anything.
Question! You seem to turn the helm an inordinate amount of times!! Does the hatteras not track well?
The upper helm has more play than the lower and in following seas it takes more effort. Might be a bleeding issue.
Livin the dream. What’s the song at the end?
It's called "Thriller" by Jesse Villa
Do you always use both engines, or sometimes only one (to save on gas),and both for maneuvering?
We always use both. We haven't tried using one engine to save fuel.
What are you doing with the helm?
?
where is the rough water?
4 foot waves is rough for the ICW.
Roger out ,,,,,
Cheers!
I had a cigarette boo do that to me passing at a high speed and he was laughing as he was going by and I had my old aunt on the boat and she got really sick, assholes
Its pronounced "Pam-Licko
Fuel costs got to be killing you
We haven't left port since August but it looks like it will hurt when we leave next month.

Have you ever heard of manners, decorum or etiquette? This is no place for trolls. I am sure there is a channel out there insecure Captains who don't own their own boats.
