Talking about PII breaches is very relevant. Just over a month ago, ~3 billion records containing SSNs, government names, addresses, and emails was breached from NPD. The biggest PII breach of all time, and from the talk, it was from such a simple vulnerability (default admin password on a mirrored site).
Professor, per the 1:50 mark, what are some examples of other things (besides files) that can exist on a storage device (and may require the need to be transferred)?
Is data retention used in this context for backup purposes or is it related to legal policies of an organization? I don't really understand the reasoning that well.
Data retention is just storing data for an extended period of time. There could be legal requirements as said at 11:36 but also companies use data retention just to make things easier for them like with backups. So it’s both really
