"No time is a good time for goodbyes." Sara's lyrics carry profound meaning, and every time I listen, I find myself falling into a whirlpool of memories, reminiscing about the beautiful moments that have passed. Whether it's people we'll never see again, things that have changed, or opportunities that will never come again, there is a sense of melancholy and loss. Listening to this song alone in the deep night, I am filled with a myriad of emotions. It could be regret for the youth that slipped away or dissatisfaction with the past. More than anything, it is a realization of our own powerlessness. Throughout life, we never truly possess anything, and the people and things that pass through our years become a part of our wisdom, shaping our perspectives on the world. The only thing we can do is to experience this world, allowing every endeavor to become a form of experience, whether it's positive or negative.
29 Nov 2023 Great poetic touch there I say. All songs, whether chart-busters or not, will resonate with someone, somewhere, some point in time even if late in the discovery. That's just the way the cards fall in "the grand carpet of life" as Rod Stewart would remark. "....realization of our own powerlessness" in the vast, infinite continuum of space and time - ok, that one hits home hard. Where humanity is headed in today's tumultuous times is very much the moral conundrum of our age. Optimism is increasingly in scarce supply. Thank you for this opportunity of reflection.

I can’t stop listening to this song. It immediately takes me back to the 80’s. This song is bittersweet because we’re all older now and so much time has passed but the memories that go through your mind as you’re listening to this song makes you smile.
It's amazing how a piece of music will instantly trigger memories isnt it? I loved living my teenage years in the 80s, those were magical, joyous times, and as long as we have the music our memories will never fade...
It was either 85 or 86. I was at my first school dance in the gym. I was in 7th grade. I'll never forget being in a loose crowd of kids, awkward and nervous, looking around not knowing how to dance or what to do. This was the song that was playing. The school was torn down roughly 20 years ago. Such innocent times, now long gone.
The video has a lot of symbolism. He lost his mother in a tornado, and now he's having trouble letting his girlfriend Sara go, who took off on the same dirt road as his mother when she left. Very sad and very touching. I love this song and the video!
because things had meaning back then and today no one cares about anything or anyone it was more to life then yes people had troubles but it was so much more to life it had meaning and in todays world all we hear is black lives matter more killings more white on white and black on black crime trump is running for office against bills wife shit is a joke now days but its more serious then ever and people dont understand or have a understanding to what meaning is no one value's meaning in todays world like back then (sorry but not sorry
I remember hearing my Aunt singing along to this song in the 80's like it was yesterday. Such a great time to grow up in was the 80's. Out of nowhere this song came back to me when my Aunt was dying of cancer just this year. I was in Hospice with her when I decided I would play this song next to her. Even though she was comatose I was hoping somehow should could hear this song and it would bring her to a happy place where she wouldn't feel any pain for a few minutes. I played "Sara" for her and a few hours later she passed away with her family at her bedside. We love you Aunt Roe! Thankyou Starship for this beautiful song.
Look up synthwave. Bands and artists like The Midnight, At 1980, and Ollie Wride are great examples. You'll find many more artists that are heavily inspired by this style of music. Some with a more modern flare.

My wife's name is Sarah. I have referenced at least once a week that "no time is a good time" or "storms are brewing in your eyes" for the past 20 years. Thanks Starship for giving me the tools I need to low level entertain/annoy her.
My first wife passed away in 2014 and this song pulled on my heart for months. The excruciating pain mixed with this beautiful song was a daily recipe for tears.
I’m grateful I grew up in the 70’s. I had splendid freedom. No technology, no watch, no keys, no money- be home before dark. And we listened to such a diverse mix of music. My parents exposed me to jazz, blues, classical…. From Ella to Jimmy.
Mini tidbit as to why this song is incredibly powerful to me: I had my last sleepover with my cousins, kind of marking the end of that era of fun. I knew it was going to be the last one too. I got in the car with my parents, and as we left down their little country road, the radio started playing this song. This song will forever be that marking in my life for me. I can never hear this song without seeing the sun setting over the cornfields (it was a nice extended sleepover at least!) as we went down the road back to home and entering a new era of my life. God I love this song.
This song fits every situation. Meeting someone, getting involved, great traveling song, missing someone, someone learning about you. Timeless and always soothing.
Born in '74 I was almost 6 at the start of the 80's and 16 when it ended. Best days of my life musically. So many memories linked to 80's songs now that when I hear songs from the best era, the 80's they come flooding back. I swear I have a memory for almost every 80's song. Love the 80's so much that I feel sorry for kids born past the late 80's... they'll never know just how good it was.
you are so right. I was born in '73 and I also have a memory attached to every song. I am truly happy that I was born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s listening to such great music. if I could go back I would. best time of my life. Thank you 80s!
I’m only 20 years old but I can say we’ve all had a “Sara” in our lives, especially me recently and it hurts us all. This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I use this song to fuel my workouts cause of how powerful it is to me.
@James ouch! I’m surprised you didn’t find a proxy, or surrogate, Sara, in hopes of replacing her. Many men only get 1; and cry that they can’t find another. If you only knew how lucky you are that you don’t get another Sara. Some men have a pattern of hooking up with a string of Sara’s. These men never grow up. They’re always chasing that next high, like a drug. Sara’s are addictive but deadly. They’re not loyal. They never stay. They’re abusive and destructive. They rip your heart out and feed it to you. They mess with your head. Of course they’re fun and they fuck your brains out. That’s how they get you hooked. But then they pick fights and leave you. I’d rather have a boring, stable woman any time. They’re loyal. They stay. They take care of you when you’re sick. They ignore your bad moods. They won’t fuck your brains out, but they make love to you so tenderly that you remember why you fell in love with them, and still love them after years and years of being with them
You won’t truly understand “Sara” until you’ve met the true love of your life, and you’ve been with her for years and years, through good and bad, thick and thin. Sara is not “the one”. That’s the whole point of this song. Saras always leave. Saras are a hurricane. When they cum, they’re wet and wild, but when they leave, your home is wrecked, and they take the car with them.
This song represents the happiest time in my life. I had the best childhood a kid could want. Two loving parents and not a care in the world. We didn't have a lot, but we did have a roof over our heads. You don't really think about things like money or material things as a kid. You know you have less than others, but you just live life. Being a younger brother or sister, you get to play with their toys and wear their clothes they grew out of
I doubt that Sir Winston Churchill ever stated what it says in the message prior to this message. I as well agree that I didn't and I doubt most kids state many things of money. That I fear is simply an adult preoccupation. It matters little since be you a billionaire or a bum on the street we all toss this mortal toil in time.
TH-cam is my time machine!!! I can always go back and reminisce on some good times by listening to all my favorite 80s music!! I miss the 80sss!!! I wish I can go back!
My feelings exactly. TH-cam can take you back to whatever time you love most. For me it was the 80's. I can watch the videos I watched as a teenager, leave the here and now behind, and go back for a fleeting moment to relive those wonderful memories. Amazing!!
I was in UK in 1986, as young language student, when prince Adrew and Sarah were getting married. Radiostations were playing this song nonstop. I was sending postcards home, with special stamps, picture of Sarah on those stamps. This song takes me straight back to that year, smell of sea, days on the beach, days full of possibilities
This song let’s you drift back in time, and remember someone you loved long ago but left your life. In the 80’s, we knew what love meant and let it show on our sleeves.
I was born yr 2006, and im very blessed that this song and any other masterpiece on that era was so golden, happy that I still discover this song again❤️💝
My Dad used to love Starship. He has been gone now for eleven years. We were best friends and I could talk to him about anything. I miss him so much and dream about him at night sometimes. I love you Dad!!
It was great being a teen in the 80's (Going to geek out a moment) My band teacher was awesome. We played this song in Jr High, then in high school went on to play other great 80's music like Bon Jovi, Journey, Foreigner, my favorite was the Top Gun Soundtrack. Life long memories attached to each one every time I hear them.
This is a great song about hopes for a relationship that never panned out. The lyricist misses the person but knows things have to end. The "dream won't come true."
For me, the 80s were a time of hope and innocence. Cartoons had morals and would teach you things. Music was about love and hope. Movie's were inspiring and original. People were kinder and more polite. There was this feeling that the world was changing and becoming better. Now, everything is a fucking mess. People think they're entitled to disrespect others and do and say whatever they want to anyone. Cartoons are mindless garbage. movies are recycled garbage, stolen from others. Music isn't music. Just women getting naked and people using lyrics or instrumentals from other past songs and call it "sampling". Television is just Kardashian garbage and reality TV. Everything is twisted social commentary. And violence is everywhere..sad
@@craigedwards2940 Yeah, I've watched many videos from the 70s, including news clips. The thing about the 70s is that at least the news was confrontational and honest. I watched a news segment on TH-cam from ABC in New York City from 1977 about the blackout they were having. They were honest in the news about what people were doing that was bad. It showed videos of people looting and rioting. Now, the news tries to justify the actions of certain demographics and demonize others based on race, gender and political views. It's so bad that you can't trust most news organizations. CNN is by far the worst.
+Joe Blow I love 80s songs. I suspect my mom listened to it as I was in her womb, as well as when I was a toddler. That's why I feel like the songs are so nostalgic. I would go crazy for Toto "I'll be Over You" and "Forever Young"
My sister and I don't talk much. This song almost never plays on the radio, but this has been my song my whole life. I was born in 1990 and my name is Sara. This song played on the radio 2 nights in a row. It made my sister reach out to me to make sure I was OK. I love this song.
This great Starship song was on the air all over Northern California as a Bay Area Sound of the 1980s when I lived there. These members were the last iteration of the band with a more mature sound fitting for the age of the group at that time. To me, it's one of the more underrated Starship songs but it stands the test of time. Still sounds great in 2023.
Essa música eu conheci no LP Lembranças 4 de 1991. Um amigo do meu pai emprestou o disco pra meu pai gravar uma fita junto com o LP love Light Hits. Eu morava em São Paulo no edifício Ralph Center.
@@thec.i.a994 Definitely. Everytime I look at the video I cry uncontrollably. It is a mirror image of my life. Mother leaves me & then wife. Not a happy song at all!
BACK IN 1985, MY MOM WAS JUST STARTING TO BECOME ILL. IN 3 YEARS SHE WOULD DIE. WHEN THIS SONG CAME OUT, SHE WOULD STOP WHAT SHE WAS DOING AND WITH GREAT INTENSITY LISTEN TO THIS SONG. EACH TIME SHE WOULD CRY. AS HER SON, I WAS VERY PROTECTIVE AND THIS BROKE MY HEART. SHE ALWAYS FELT THE SONG WAS ABOUT HER. HER "NAME" WAS SARA.....
I'm so sorry.. My mother was around then and she loved this song.. She was a smoker for 40 something years, and in 2015 she was diagnosed with lung cancer and it was way to late.. I can't listen to this song as it brings tears..

Anyone else thinks having perfect heath and being in the 80s for eternity would be heaven ?
seria fabuloso y sobre todo si vives con el amor de tu vida.
Cool. Just wake me up before you go go.

yes go vegan
I'd happily go back.
This video is a real work of art showing what life was like growing up in the Oklahoma dust bowl combined with a great love story
I take it that way of life has gone forever, friend?
The video has a lot of symbolism. He lost his mother in a tornado, and now he's having trouble letting his girlfriend Sara go, who took off on the same dirt road as his mother when she left. Very sad and very touching. I love this song and the video!
Thanx for the video description
why do most 80's songs has a story behind it ? really makes that decade historical genre for us 30's something and above
because things had meaning back then and today no one cares about anything or anyone it was more to life then yes people had troubles but it was so much more to life it had meaning and in todays world all we hear is black lives matter more killings more white on white and black on black crime trump is running for office against bills wife shit is a joke now days but its more serious then ever and people dont understand or have a understanding to what meaning is no one value's meaning in todays world like back then (sorry but not sorry
Those songs with a story behind it are still remembered today...thats why. Will anyone remember OOOPS I did it again in 30 yrs?
Jamie Wurdinger I've always loved this song.
Pure Nostalgia for me
80s music will never fade away!
You're so right. I talk to young teenagers who love 80s music

This video takes me back to the 80s, sitting on the living room floor eating a pb&j watching MTV. What I wouldn’t give to go back for just one day..
Absolutely right 👍♥️
This particular song takes me back to 1986, driving down Virginia Beach Blvd in Virginia Beach with my first girlfriend…
I am afraid if I went back for a day I would never come !
Magical 80s music, an era that can never be replicated.
💯‼️
100% pure faxx!!
Songs in the 80s captured your heart on 1st hear.

Kyle H Thank you for clarifying those lyrics.
I have been singing “ Storms are the wind your eyes” my whole life lol
Yes Kyle as of right now I'm annoying my Sarah with the same tactic
Deep down, she loves it!

That's actually funny! Lol.
My first wife passed away in 2014 and this song pulled on my heart for months. The excruciating pain mixed with this beautiful song was a daily recipe for tears.

So sorry for your loss
I'm so sorry for your loss...
I'm so sorry

I’m grateful I grew up in the 70’s. I had splendid freedom. No technology, no watch, no keys, no money- be home before dark. And we listened to such a diverse mix of music. My parents exposed me to jazz, blues, classical…. From Ella to Jimmy.
No AIDS.
You just described my childhood to a tee. I thought it was just me.
Me too, child in the 70s, high school in the 80s.
This song is a timeless classic. I will always have this song in my heart as a kid back then and today as a man.

That’s such a sweet story ❤
This song fits every situation. Meeting someone, getting involved, great traveling song, missing someone, someone learning about you. Timeless and always soothing.

Born in '74 I was almost 6 at the start of the 80's and 16 when it ended. Best days of my life musically. So many memories linked to 80's songs now that when I hear songs from the best era, the 80's they come flooding back. I swear I have a memory for almost every 80's song. Love the 80's so much that I feel sorry for kids born past the late 80's... they'll never know just how good it was.
so true
you are so right. I was born in '73 and I also have a memory attached to every song. I am truly happy that I was born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s listening to such great music. if I could go back I would. best time of my life. Thank you 80s!
1974 too! It definitely was the best years at that age for music.
Same here.....we caught tell 80's and are still quite young!! Great rime to be born!
I agree; born in 1977 and playing with my Jem doll and waking up every Saturday morning to watch cartoons were the best of my childhood.

I’m only 20 years old but I can say we’ve all had a “Sara” in our lives, especially me recently and it hurts us all. This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I use this song to fuel my workouts cause of how powerful it is to me.
I'm 19 and I've experienced it recently too. Music is a powerful tool that can both heal and hurt at the same time. Keep your head up👍
Youll get over it. The fact that theres a Sarah in every movie, every class ive ever been in...youll find another one. Not me. But another one.
I hope you will find another one. There are good people out there.

This song is a bitter sweet symphony for me because the 80's never come back again....but I will always be an 80's girl!
Same 😞
🤩👍🤠🇧🇷
@@alexandernelson647 Spot on. The violence aspect was pretty similar in the 70's, but apart from that you're right.
This song sounds much more sad than it did as a kid. I really hear the pain in it now

+Joe Blow I'd like to hold in' 86'----man it was a great year for me too
+Joe Blow I love 80s songs. I suspect my mom listened to it as I was in her womb, as well as when I was a toddler. That's why I feel like the songs are so nostalgic. I would go crazy for Toto "I'll be Over You" and "Forever Young"
+Joe Blow Don't be sad that it's over; be glad because it happened.
