I was 13 on 2001. Really loved skateboard at this time, today I like to watch some camps and videos, but it's not part of my life anymore. To be honest, I miss this time more than skateboard.
@@boomershooterlegend 2001 was a nightmare. the Mossad led operation against the World occur'd ( NINE ELEVEN) . .... Skateboarding, my friend was just a distraction..and still is. The energy that day was something. So many skaters. There were little sessions all around going down. It was like the entire city was skateboard heaven.
I was skating in the 90’s, stopped when I got a car in 1999. Graduated high school the year this was filmed. The fact that this is history makes me feel so old.
Remember being here live when I was 11 years old with my World Industries wet willy vs flame boy slick board, and my CCS back pack 🤣, God take me back 🙏
Wow thanx for Uploading. I remember watching this on tv ftom way back, & before the 911 tragedy i think.. good times, seein these great pros much younger then
It’s crazy to think how much went into this skate contest and they only showed like 5 minutes of actual skating and not one single complete run. It’s like 80% interviews and B-roll.
Just got done watching Olympic skateboarding and its so crazy nowadays people have big flip crooked grinds on lock landing them first try. Like video part tricks every trick
For me, artistically speaking, Menikmati and the demos of the late 90s was the peak. Future is carving out nicely though. Hella great skaters today pushing boundaries, keeping it stylish/artistic.
it was new a corporate entity roped off city hall for a skateboard demonstration? LOL We did it here in 1987. And I'm not joking. You just belived the hype.
I remember when this was going on I was actually skating back then this opened the door for a lot of stuff that they're doing today. I thought this was great for skating back in the days
I was at this contest, was so much fun. It was cool for us locals cause stuff like this never happened in philly. Ricky oyola, Josh Kalis, Kerry Getz star of the show. Remember seeing koston grind the spiral rail going down the subway too unreal. Brings back memories thanks
This was the best time in history to be a sk8r. Everyone skated. It was huge. This was the zenith of shredding. I skated from about 98 to about 2012. Still go out and roll around from time to time but I'd shatter if I slammed nowadays, haha. It will always be in my blood. There's no greater feeling of freedom.
some of the footage is beautiful and then they cut to dog shit lens. weird. I love that orange street blockade thing.. some of them killed that thing. wow it's massive.
Skateboarding will never see these days again. An old friend recently bought his 10 year old boy his first board. The kid said, "Yeah, but what does it even do dad?" 😳

old school - all about the music fam.
I was there. I actually got Eric Koston's auotograph at that event over 20 years ago. Unfortunately I lost the signature.
I feel proud to say that this was the era that I started skating in
bit late
Bro I was 9 years old wth
@@bmorebread8993 he meant you should've been born earlier. and that's your fault too.
So what happened in the era that you stopped skating? Was pride lost?
Maan I was there when I was a kid. Miss that shit sooo much.

I forgot about Quasimodo! Wearing that bunny suit 😂.
I remember taping this on tv. I was in middle school and has been skating for a couple of years at that point. It was insane. Best era.
I remember being a kid here man wow memories
Was in 11th grade at this time, and skateboarding was my life!

I couldn't ever stand that guy even back then . And now it's even worse he need serious mental health help

The only thing that didn't age well is the fact that Sal Masekala existed
That's B's Steve Williams should have been there
Hell yeah 🤘
My old ass is sitting here thinking "wow, amazing how much skateboarding has progressed in 11 years"...
Ima definitely try to get another real street competition going when I have the money to start one.

Where is Stevie Williams 😢
what eminem song is playing in the first couple minutes?

Wish Xgames did this style again. Surprised that Street League hasn't done something similar yet. Sure they can afford it and get away with it.

Selema “Sal” Masekela, he’s hosted plenty
