EarthBound is a great RPG, designed by Shigesato Itoi in 1994-1995, and is also known by the name Mother 2.
It is best described as "random", in a good way. The game has a great emphasis on a humor, and indeed many things in the game are almost caricatured, from subplots to characters. It also has a versatile soundtrack.
In contrast to the in-bounds run of this game ( tasvideos.org/... ), this run skips most of the plot. There are several major collision detection bugs, including one showing that the Skip Sandwich is a fitting name for the item in ways the developers never intended. The author is able to move around the game's areas freely, completing the bare minimum number of tasks needed to keep the final battle from locking up.
illayaya ( tasvideos.org/... ) improves the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) by a minute and 20 seconds, thanks to a new route and better optimisation. Please read the author's comments ( tasvideos.org/... ) for more details.
I love how the credits show only one picture. The photographer has had it rough.
35:45 There's something extra epic about Paula praying from the bottom of her heart when she's in tears, all her friends are out, and she's down to her last hit point.
yessss
The tiniest glint of hope! Always grasp onto it!
9:37 - It's called the Skip sandwich for a reason.
Never fails, there always seems to be some game breaking warp glitch in every RPG. lol
Nope. Skies of Arcadia and Final fantasy VIII and IX need one
Give it time, someone will find one for those eventually.
@@AwesomeHairo I thought those had one already?
My mind is fucking blown, how people figure out how to break games this badly is beyond me and I love it.
So I’m used to seeing clipping through walls and sequence breaking, but at 19:01 I lost all idea of what was going on
There's a glitch in the game where if you get heatstroke while going up or down stairs, you can then walk through walls.
to add on to that, every single room in earthbound is connected together in one giant map. even if nothing appears because the correct room's tileset isn't loaded in, it's still there. using the sound stone puts everything back to normal
AAAAAA
The iconic group of characters
Hello, A! How you doing? I’m fine, A, how are you? Pretty good, A! Let’s see how our pet, A is doing. WOOF! (I’m okay, A, A and A!) Ooh, let’s see if mother prepared A for us! It’s delicious! “Eat up, boys!” Thank you, mother! “That’s OK, A, A and A!” Ooh, let’s do A! It’s awesome! Let’s go, A! Ooh, A, what if we meet our friend, A in the Park? “Wassup, A, A and A?” The Sky! HAHAHAHAAAAAAA
8:50 ness passed the cops stop sign
"Favorite thing" Should of been E
Ness: *defeats his inner demons*
*becomes ALL-POWERFUL*
Special thanks to P L A Y E R
Mfw it's only 57:32 because of the post credit scene
A x A forever
I think Nintendo should remaster this game. It would sell.
But how
RNG manip, sprite overload, and character displacement. The speedrun community leaderboard details a lot of it!

Arrrgh my brain
42:06
Hi, I'm A, and this is my friend A. I'd like you to meet someone. This is A and A.
In my life, there's always been a good mix of name variety in my groups of friends, with very few repeats.
Kinda makes me wonder if any group ended up being like 5 guys named Chuck or something like that.
I'm sure there's stories out on the internet somewhere...
Would you like a plate of delicious A, A?
@@hoosierflatty6435 reminds me of this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday_problem
@@mrlemonlame Kinda, but not really. There are only 365 (excluding leap year) dates that can be your birthday, but names are essentially infinite, though somewhat limited in practice.
@@binarymystic yeah, that's true. The closest I could think of is something like " Hi John, I'm John and this is John". There are definitely cases where no one else will have your name.
As cool of an item the Gutsy Bat is being the final best equipment for Ness, as a weapon in casual gameplay and real-time speedruns, it's never truly important for how late in the game it's obtainable (the Legendary Bat being in a present right next to it doesnt help its case either), but the fact that it was actually made incredibly useful in specifically only TAS's where the user cannot obtain a sudden guts pill and must rely on its built-in guts stat is truly amazing.
Intro ends at 7:53
It is an impressively clean intro though, so give it a watch unless you're absolutely sick of it.
The amount of times I've played through the intro, I'm so annoyed of it now
Your pfp is based
Thank you.
"A's Nightmare emitted a glorious light!"
"A's Nightmare stopped moving!"
W h a t w a s t h a t w h a t
he used a flash and because of paula's prayer he gets confused and uses it on himself
PSI flash at its finest
17:52 Paula: "wtf- WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE? WHERE AM I?!" 😨
Paula: "Wait, ARE YOU NESS? And who's the other guy?"
wait I mean: "I am sure this is just a dream"
Real LMAO
ALERT! A’s condition is critical. He will collapse if h- *walks in the walk and teleports to summers acting like nothing strange just happened
lol
The best part still has to be how Ness's Nightmare just. . . _dies_ because it felt strange and hit itself with PSI Flash's instakill effect
Your photo album is a bit lacking, A, but I'll let it slide for saving the world in under an hour.
"Mom, I'm gonna go save the world."
"Ok dear, just be home in time for dinner."
"....That won't be a problem."
Not even a little over 5 years of development can stop an RPG from being broken!
At least half of this playthrough is level-up screens.
42:00 to 43:17
Standard flashing lights and static warning.
Frankly, I'm surprised Google hasn't implemented something for that. It'd be one change that could easily be handled by AI and would actually improve TH-cam.
@@chad_bro_chill they don't wanna improve your experience. They just wanna censor and make ad money.
@@chad_bro_chill It doesn't have to be something handled by AI. It could just be an optional video filter to apply. The Virtual Console and Mini systems did something like this (With the lack of being able to turn it off.)
@@professorfukyu744 no, no, you've got a point
11:23 Whoa. I was wondering...maybe the game makes it so you can't progress unless the variable that checks if you have Paula or not is on.
Nobody:
Nightmare: "Suicide is badass!"
Is this tas?
Watch in X2 speed
This was actually a delight, and only fast enough to need to pause in very few select spots
idk what, but there's just something about watching SNES TAS speedruns at 2x speed
22:59 wow. wtf.
8:49 how? For me it's just completely blocked
simple answer, it's done by making too many objects appear on screen at once so the barrier loads in wrong
*I'm calling to the friend that we have not met
*A!
*Calling...
*Hello! Who's there?
*It's me! A!
*Oh! Hello A!
*We need you,A!
*Ok! I'm coming...
*Stop call*
21:40 fine that this isn't the japanese version, It would be more Strange.
Ah yes I know my favorite character.
*A*
I personally thought A was a bit more developed but I can respectfully disagree
A was better
32:40
Gutsy Bat!
How was he able to skip Starman in onette without dying first ?
was it less optimal to not do the RTA strat of dying right after getting buzz buzz?
glitch abuse :99.9%.normal gameplay:00.1%
bro litteraly scipped 99.9% of the game bosses
6:39?o hbye starman
25:09 JEFF GETS PP???????
Imaging Giygas is so powerful that he can fuck up your SNES
I never knew Paula was not Ness's girlfriend cuz ness's mother addressed her like that 😅
a
So Giygas is a pacifist
Why are enemies not spawning most of the time
Because RNG dictates if and who of they appear on not.
Giygas O_o
Eagleland is basically england
