Last Breath of Yggdrasil Love lies cold and murdered Followed by winters thrice The sun and moon devoured As the firmament collapse and dies And the mountains are crumbling With slow resolve they're coming down The world tree heaves and sighs As it draws its last breath And the grey one lies fallen A broken body marked by wolven claws Once proud and strong Now lost in the arms of death Yggdrasil Cradle and shelter of life Your fate shall be denied Roots engulfed in Surtr's flames To all of mankind's demise And the oceans are churning Untamed and ravenous grave so wild The serpent writhes As the crushing waves collide And Tiwaz, one-handed Went forth to face the feral Garm Almighty warrior god Now reduced to food for dogs Ashes fall in a world rendered still The last breath of Yggdrasil And the eagle is screaming For he knows that the end is nigh The world tree heaves and sighs As it draws its last breath And the wielder of the hammer Bane of the Jormungandr Nine steps of triumph and victory Then succumbed to misery And the flaming sword of Surtr Now cleanses all with fire The world tree heaves no more As the world now has expired
Oh, this is beautiful. I know Naglfar isn't exactly known for their optimistic themes, but it would have been so cool to have ended the song with a nod to Vidar or the two humans who go hiding until after Ragnarok..
Fluffykeith that is my only complaint as well so far. Seems like too much reverb. The vocals are drowned in the mix. Besides that so far the songs have been great
@@viking_sith_lord So you're saying that the Pariah and Harvest albums...both from Naglfar, both which had cleaner, less distorted vocals....were NOT Black Metal? There's no requirement for Black Metal vocals to be so distorted that they're indistinguishable.
Pariah and Harvest were okay albums for that modern sound and style but i like the first 3 better. I grew up on the 90's melodic black/death metal and to me its just better. Harvest and Teras were much better than Pariah. This album sounds more like the Naglfar i love. You know its good to change things up a bit. Especially this band since they dont record as often. Every album they have made has never satisfied everyone and thats okay. Diabolical in my opinion is their best album.
@@deadliestassassin3092 "You know its good to change things up a bit" _as long as you like the change being made._ Changes can be better or worse, and when we're talking about production taste, it's entirely subjective anyway. I personally don't like vocals to dominate a mix and be right up front, but I don't like them to be this buried either. It's just a matter of preference. It's not bad enough to turn me away, I still ordered the album and like what I've heard so far. I remember Lamb of God released "producer editions" of 2 of their albums with all the individual instrument tracks. I wish every band did that with every album, then everyone could just mix it how they want or even share mixed/sell remixing services for those that want them. I'd definitely remix lots of albums that I own and love, to make them "perfect" for me. Not to mention there are tons of people that like metal but dislike metal vocals for whatever reason, and with that they can just take the vocals out if they want.
Last Breath of Yggdrasil
Love lies cold and murdered
Followed by winters thrice
The sun and moon devoured
As the firmament collapse and dies
And the mountains are crumbling
With slow resolve they're coming down
The world tree heaves and sighs
As it draws its last breath
And the grey one lies fallen
A broken body marked by wolven claws
Once proud and strong
Now lost in the arms of death
Yggdrasil
Cradle and shelter of life
Your fate shall be denied
Roots engulfed in Surtr's flames
To all of mankind's demise
And the oceans are churning
Untamed and ravenous grave so wild
The serpent writhes
As the crushing waves collide
And Tiwaz, one-handed
Went forth to face the feral Garm
Almighty warrior god
Now reduced to food for dogs
Ashes fall in a world rendered still
The last breath of Yggdrasil
And the eagle is screaming
For he knows that the end is nigh
The world tree heaves and sighs
As it draws its last breath
And the wielder of the hammer
Bane of the Jormungandr
Nine steps of triumph and victory
Then succumbed to misery
And the flaming sword of Surtr
Now cleanses all with fire
The world tree heaves no more
As the world now has expired

Wowwwww sonsera...🔥🔥🔥🔥
Slipped up and only just NOW ordered the album.. :(
Nice church choir
This is pretty solid, but I wish the vocals were a little cleaner in the mix, like on Pariah and Harvest. They seem kinda muddy here.

What happened to their sound? ;-( I go back to Harvest.
You mean sheol/pariah. Every band you listen to doesn't sound the same as they did from 13-15 years ago, and won't.
iiXeno they don‘t have to sound the same, but getting worse is unnecessary.
@@LengTche they for sure did not get worse. Maby your taste in music did.
good song but the mix on the album sucks
