I''ve been shooting photos of Sandhills on a refuge here in east TN this winter with my Z8, just found your Tips for Video. As always, very informative. I hope to get out next week before they leave here and try some of your suggestions. Terry I really appreciate the effort that you put into your posts. Thank you so much.

Definitely looking for more video information. There are a lot of Z9 videos that are "basic setup", but I need to dig deeper. There were a few helpful tidbits here and I am going to try them out - thanks.

Thanks for the explanations Terry. I just shot wildlife this morning at 1/400 of a second and 24FPS and it didn't turn out like I hoped, uff da! Now I know why. Thank you for your videos, they really help a lot! They didn't explain all this in college.

SOLID SOLID INFO. Just what we are looking for w our Z9s starting to get into videos of wildlife. Thank you Terry. Video can be daunting when you start but this instruction on the basic set up went a long way to figuring out the Nikon menus.

Terry, Sir -- Great video and the great quality of the sound adds so much to the impact of the superb imagery. Have you posted a "What's In My Camera Bag" type video, in which you discuss the various gear you use and source for purchasing. Such a video would be greatly appreciate. Thank you so much for the informative video; it was indeed very helpful. Could you please share which tripod and gimbal head you were using? The setup appeared to be quite sturdy, especially when you carried it over your shoulder. Additionally, if time allows, perhaps you could consider creating a video about choosing and handling tripods. That would be greatly appreciated.
A tripod video is on my list that will get to at some point. Until then, I use a Really Right Stuff carbon fiber set of legs (reallyrightstuff.com/tvc/) and I use a Wimberley Gimbal head www.tripodhead.com/products/wimberley-main.cfm

I'm shooting PSA length movies with children. I need more info on the settings I should use to get good focus on my Z9. I know this is not wildlife, but a link to more info or a video made by you would be so appreciated.

Hi Terry, thank you for this interesting video. I only filmed short sequences on my Z9 so far, so this is really helpful. What I found difficult when filming larger flocks of cranes (I live near a popular nesting spot) is to keep the same bird in focus. I got the impression, that the focus tries to wander of to the foreground. Do you have any tips on how to keep the focus steady when filming wildlife?
Hi Enrico, I have found that the Z9 will follow to some degree, the animals. However, that is if you are holding down the backbitten focus button. If you do that, then you can have some camera shake with long lenses. Nikon sells a remote the Nikon MC-N10 Remote Grip, that puts those controls on a wire so you should be able to do that kind of work without touching the camera. Since its an additional $425 - I simply focus on an area (manually pick a spot) and when the creature comes thought that area I get it in focus. While this is not a perfect solution it is one that I can live with for a while, or at least until I buy one of those remotes. Good luck and thanks for watching.
@@tv510 The Nikon MC-N10 grip paired with a CAMVATE Multipurpose Super Crab Clamp & ARRI Rosette Mount M6 Female Thread or similar clamp utility is indispensable for extensive video work with the Nikon Z9. With this grip and mount pairing, I can attach the unit to a tripod leg on my gimbal head tripod rig (albeit with Not with allowing a 360-degree panning range) or on the arm of my video tripod rig - as video camera operators have always done with any dedicated video rig (thus allowing a 360-degree panning range). Within a day of first using the MC-N10 grip, I find it indispensable for still photography too when the Z9 is on a tripod.

Hi Elliott, I use Final Cut Pro. If you have a Mac, then this is an exclusive apple product, around $300. Another one I have dabbled in is Adobe Premier, excellent as well, but it has a subscription price attached to it. I have had Final Cut for a long time and it works great. I would highly recommend that as an editing software.
I do not see any useful information about the video capabilities of Nikon. Do you have any extended video of BIF? TO show how good/bad the camera tracks a subject?
Working on that, at some point I hope to have some video information for you.
