This comparison should demonstrate the effect of different finishes. The same trumpet model is played with 1. silver plating and 2. laquer. Both trumpets are picked out of the same series. Model type: B&S Challenger I (3137).
Interessant wäre auch ein Vergleich mit einer Raw Brass Trompete
I have tried a Adams A10 back to back and it does make a HUGE difference. I absolutely loved the silver plated version and didn't like the soud of the laquered version at all! Try before you buy!
The tone difference is much greater than can be captured by any microphone (even professional ones)
Very nice trumpets❤
Is that anAquaterra????😮
what is the point of using the third valve for E as opposed to using 1+2
Some people are just more in tune with alternative fingerings
Some horns have a more in tune sounding 3rd valve for 1 + 2 notes. It's fairly common especially in low E or High A
It’s easier to slur notes. This is because you rely more on your valves when you use valve 3 instead of 1+2. However, it comes at a cost with your tuning. If you use an alternative fingering your notes either becomes flatter or sharper. Trumpeters adapt to this by changing their embouchure.
I think his own bias is affecting the results and in a blind test there would be no difference all else being equal
Me too
There is a difference actually, silver plating tends to have a lighter tone, generally used in jazz music. The laquer finish has a darker tone and is commonly seen in beginners hands and in classical music or concert music.
@@boi_wut9462 This is the myth that is nonsense that we need to get rid of!
I made several blind tests in real world - also on Facebook without a picture. Believe me - I am very skeptical with such things, and in this very case the difference was incredibly huge. I never expected it to be that in-your-face obvious.
A solid silver trumpet sounds different (better) than a silver plated brass or silver plated copper trumpet. I have a trumpet with a solid silver bell and a silver plated brass bell. Not only can I tell the difference, everyone who hears me play on the two different bells agree. I keep the solid silver bell on, except to demonstrate to others the difference.
Very Bach 43...or 37, but slightly brighter

What’s are the main differences? It’s seems little dark the silver respect gold plated, can you advise?
A silver one looks more brilliant for sure but that top layer is so thin in both cases that I doubt it makes a difference even if you would measure, played by artificial lips, able of reproducing all the parameters exactly.
There is no difference. THey also did testing with flutes. blind testing. They took a solid gold flute worth $100.000, a sterling silver flute, and a cheap silver plated flute and also a flute made of poured concrete. Even flute technicians and professional flutenists couldnt tell the difference between any of them.
@@Herr_Flick_of_ze_Gestapo It happens all in the head... you think silver is a much better material, so your head tells you it sounds better... but silver looks better in an esthetic way
@@djuromaric7256 indeed. its all pretentious BS. just like with Stradivarius violins. doubleblind testing done by professional violinists showed that modern cheaper violins basically sound better than a stradivari worth 5 million.
Hey have been playing trumpet for 3years
Mouthpiece???
Simple; in the long term laquer wears really quick and is not easly fixable, silver plate tarnishes but with a polishing cloth and a some polishing compound its looks brand new.
SinisterMinister my laquer trumpet started flaking in a few month and is unreparable without replacing the whole thing. My Bach Strad(silver) has lasted years with polish
@@braeden90000 You could just strip the lacquer and get a new coat put on...
My Yamaha lasted about 9 years before the laquer wore off. Silver is much more durable.

Hi... Can I ask something about trumpets?
yes
Ask, don’t let us in the dark.. I wanna know
@@denisam8940 you can ask me a question
@@thepeskyone does pineapple belong on pizza?
@@denisam8940 NO
little or no difference. with a blind test, id be hard pressed to tell the difference
But there's an obvious difference when you listen to it live.
It has been scientifically proven that there is no difference between silver plate lacquered instruments. However, jumping between the lacquered and the silver appears to make no difference at all and the tone is made by the player!
BS ..... on the contrary. They did many scientific tests. also with flutes. they compaired solid gold, silver, cheap metal and a concrete flute with eachother. No one could tell the difference.
The hypothesis that material affects the tone has been debunked many many times. Even baroque flute makers who word with difference woods say that it doesnt matter if you use expensive grenadilla wood or olive or box wood. There is no difference in tone. the only thing that makes a difference is the polish of the bore.
@@Herr_Flick_of_ze_Gestapo Had to chuckle, missed the 'no' word before difference!
Scientific fact, the plating does not make a difference, if you heard these on a radio you would not be able to tell the difference. @
Uhhh idk if this is a joke
@@tubespax3568 CSMedia is correct. It has scientifically been proven that material does not result in a different tone. They did many tests with flutes. No one could tell the difference between a solid 18k flute or a silver plated flute or a flute that was made from pouring concrete.
The idea that material affects the tone has been debunked so many times by now.
@@Herr_Flick_of_ze_Gestapo Alright, thanks for the info. What would the reasoning be for getting a different material on an instrument? Is it because of how it looks?
@@tubespax3568 Personal preference, like the silver plate, can embellish with gold parts.
