But today is his lucky day, because I am more then happy to share some knowledge and passion for the craft with him, and anyone else that cares to listen or participate. Insider, It's funny that you ask... as a matter of fact I HAVE studied Psytrance music, the artists making it, the culture, from a social/recreational perspective as well as taking some time to look at the tribal nature of much of the "scene" and the connection that many people feel to it that goes deeper, and far beyond musical interest and social outlet. MANY long term fans, of the genre, myself included, credit the music, atmosphere, energy and spiritual aspects surrounding it with granting them, or leading them to a higher level of consciousness, and what I call better sense of connection to the very essence of life. After finding this music, or being found by it, I experienced profound changes in my view of the world and beyond. I'm not THE authority on the Psytrance community, I am just someone cares enough to take the time to make an effort, in hopes that in some way, it will matter, to someone. And yes, I have been involved beyond attending shows, with a small group of friends we produced quite a few events in Southern California, we hosted a lineup of DJ's ranging from local favorites to International acts. I've got high with people you would consider famous. But my passion for Psytrance music is where my knowledge of it comes from, I have spent COUNTLESS hours, trying to achieve specific sounds, something I heard on a record, or in my head, I have driven the people around me to the brink of insanity more then once with what, at times, borderlines on an obsession with that music I heard out in the middle of nowhere, an hour or more north of Los Angeles, in the mountains tripping my brains out... about 20 years ago, that was so bad ass, so unbelievably funky, that it literally changed my life, or my trajectory in it ... instantly. When I heard the SOUND of that bass, the way it growled... omg, it had this overdriven mid-range that gave it an almost nasal quality at times, and at 50K watts that shit hit me so hard it literally shook me to my core, I was mesmerized. That shit sounded alive.... and that day, the chemicals in my head, the people around me, that unbelievable bassline and the most incredible music I had ever heard all lined up in just such a way, that it opened my mind, and let me see the world through my 3rd eye. I understood myself, humanity, life and the world better I ever had before. The best way to describe the sensation is that it was like a mental orgasm. In that moment I found what I had been looking for all my life. I couldn't describe a specific tangible thing, just that things just started to make sense. Holy shit, I got lost in the moment there but maybe sharing the experience will be of some use or help to someone, in some way, at some point. Back to what a drop is, and maybe a little on what Psytrance really is... or isn't. I am ALWAYS trying to feed my insatiable desire for good Psytrance, I listen to all KINDS of shit, and have a BUNCH of outlets, I enjoy regular selections from friends in other countries, and really dig listening to and for subtle traits that tend to emerge geographically, like so much Brazilian Psytrance, especially the stuff put out on Alien Records has a passion for triplets, there is almost always a triplet run in every track it seems, little things like that help me make an educated guess if I hear a track somewhere with no way of finding out the title, or who its by. Yeah I'm a fucking psyborg. And look to youtube a lot for music, so when I see "30 greatest Psytrance Drops!" i'm so there... and of about 5 or 6 videos I watched with similar titles, I diodn't hear a single actual drop, only break downs into triplet runs, and triplet runs. The other night I posted some info about drops, and I'll just paste it here, in a fresh comment for anyone who cares to read it.

I have much respect for him and the music he creates, he is responsible for some of the best full on Psytrance tracks ever made. His style is always fun and high energy , in a constant state of flux with different things evolving and devolving, anywhere you jump into it, other then the beginning... you miss out out on something cool that happens just before that... it never just stops unfolding ... until the end. Anyways do your self a favor and listen from the beginning, but if you are pressed for time, jump in around 4:20, yeah, magic in the madness, and as it starts to break down around 4:50, professionally speaking, I suggest you crank that shiot up until your windows rattle as you come into the brain damage damage zone around 5:15 and the madddening climb out of it and into that fat blast of outer space bass in your face at like 6:08.. that immediately starts to evolve again, climbing further and further through a series of micro drops, or breaks ... staying full power to the very end. Such an amazing track... Hearing this sort of stuff at out door events is what made me fall in love with Psytrance almost 20 years ago.
