Prize lecture: Douglas Diamond, economic sciences prize 2022

Douglas W. Diamond delivered his prize lecture "Financial Intermediation and Financial Crises" on 8 December 2022.
The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2022 was awarded jointly to Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philip H. Dybvig "for research on banks and financial crises".

What is the value of bank monitoring long term? Are there any current examples.
This is effective. but long term can of worms 🐛. Regardless, sharp explanations.

I hear a good deal about bank runs to withdraw money because of real or rumored bankruptcy or failure of the bank. All things being equal, what would a reverse run (I leave it to your imagination) do to a bank 🏦? 🚬 🥃😏.

Yes. The bank would.. oh, it's for our imagination. I studied Economics. But only Home Economics. It's been useful.

Banks are not financial intermediaries, they are more special then that, they create money when they purchase assets from non-banks OR create loans for entities in the real economy.
