I love that you addressed anxiety and the way you did. I suffer horrible anxiety and I would love to start planning and journaling again. I absolutely love the binder you demonstrated. I just subscribed. Thank you friend.
I am a older lady and some of my friends do not understand the sticker thing. I agree 100% it is something relaxing about laying down stickers and just planning in general.
Oh my goodness…I hear you on the meal planning! You’re right that it’s a lot of pressure to be the one responsible for feeding the household. I never thought that that task would be the most hated part of being an adult. 😆 One of my kids asked me recently what my favorite meal was…I told her, “Anything I don’t have to prepare”. As many have commented before me, love you statement about liking the “stillness of paper”. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing that binder available in your shop.
Loved your perception that paper is “still.” Such a great description! I also tried digital planning, but it felt heavy and very distracting (for me). As I’m recently retired I have gone to weekly planning pages and I feel so much peace looking at it at the end & beginning of the day, and if it’s a busy day I’ll check it other times. You are spot on that planning helps with anxiety. When I’m capturing things, adding ticklers, logging important info, I feel I have at least a modicum of control. For instance, months ago I decided I didn’t want to renew an annual digital subscription, but they didn’t give refunds so I wanted to let it play out (it didn’t allow me to just not auto-renew for some reason). So I went into my 2022 pages and put a note on 3/7/22 to cancel, and of course did that. But without a trusted planning system, a visual for me to see, I have great doubts I would have remembered, even if I put a reminder in my phone. That one saved me $95! There are just so many ways it helps my ping-pong mind settle down! Thanks for another video full of great information!
I bet that company was wishing you would forget to cancel your subscription. 😃 A lot of companies make money like that by auto-renewing subscriptions that people forget to cancel. It's a good thing you had a reminder in your planner! Digital planning isn't for me either. I can't completely replace my paper planner with a digital one. There are too many distractions on a tablet/phone...there are notifications, social media, games, etc. Using paper is a way to break away from all of that and just calm down and think.
I have been using a paper planner for a gazillion years (Franklin). I find that writing on paper feels like I have more control when things get overwhelming. Love your videos!
I agree!! In this day and age where everything moves quickly, the paper planner (the analog method) really slows me down and helps me to be present and soothing. It helps me work through my thoughts. Love it. Great points here. :)
@@TonyaPlans I think you're right. It took me nearly 30 years before I started on anti depressants, because I thought it was admitting weakness. Best thing I could have done and I wish I'd done it years before.
Love your stillness of paper. Exactly! I can ponder my thoughts and the paper doesn’t go dark. And I can see and feel and flip through my planner. Even lay it all out side by side if need be. Love your videos. ❤
Great video! I love the way you convey your thoughts about planning and using it in all aspects of your life to stay focused and calm anxiety. Thanks for your thoughts:)
Akkk, that gorgeous binder is killing me! I use a bound planner (the Japanese Franklin planner and Hobonichi’s) so I have no need for a binder at all, but this is so pretty, I wish I could use it! This video is so helpful, I need to use my planner to reduce anxiety instead of making myself anxious with all the things I haven’t done. Thank you!
Oh, and I’m so with you about using paper vs digital. The practice of putting pen to paper so resonates with me and my brain and I feel such an organic and “real” connection to what I’m doing.
I think you should teach the teenagers how to meal plan and then put them in charge of meals with supervision at first. This will be a very useful skill to them when they leave home.
I love paper agendas and planners, How can you put notes in your phone when you are talking on the phone at the same time? I love using different color inks and highlighter to take notes. It's a very relaxing feeling to open the book and just jot down an important thought.
I have such a hard time actuallyt FOLLOWING my plans - whether planner, budget, eating... I'll spend time making it out 'perfect' then something comes up with my crazy work schedule (12 hour rotating shifts) with callout or just feeling more exhausted or frustrated than usual so things like preparing meals with shopping and executing and cleaning get shoved aside. I start fresh then falter again. I'm finding developing a habit of following a planner hard for me for some reason. sigh. these videos do motivate me though esp the one you just did on cleaning
I love this video Tonya! You’ve hit on so many perfect realities of using planning to help ease our natural anxieties. I agree with the ideas with washi tape and stickers. I do something also to help my mood with stickers. At the beginning of a month/year, I’ll take a page of stickers and place them randomly on some pages. This helps so that there are fewer “lumps” from having only 1 or 2 stickers in the same placement throughout. What it also does is give my mood a surprise break. I’ll have a sticker like “you are worthy” stuck in at random. Inevitably, the day I turn to that “pre-stickered” day, I’ll see just the right pick-me-up or reminder. It’s so much fun planning. It is so special to have control of one aspect of our life when the world can be so random!! Thanks again. Quick question - will you have the binder in only one size? If yes, which size - classic? If not, will you also be making a pocket size? I absolutely love the thought you’ve put into the Tonya binder. I’m going to start saving up for one right away.
Hey Xochi! Pre-stickering is such an excellent idea. I do that as well. It brings me joy to run across a sticker I placed ahead of time. Plus we don't always have time to use stickers so pre-stickering is an excellent way to make sure you use the stickers/washi that you buy. The binder will be available in both the classic and compact size. I'm glad you asked about the pocket size binder. A pocket size may be coming in the future if there is more demand for it. Have a great day.
@@TonyaPlans I just “noodled” around your site. It’s looking so good. I really want to see all of this take off for you. I shall mention Tonya, this is Canadian Wendy. I had to change to my “nom de plume” as I was getting some trolling. I thought I’d let you know though. The planner you sent me has been sooo helpful these past 3 months. I’m using my pocket Franklin for my personal goals, med appts, family things to remember; but the PA planner is the business/work planner. I think that at the end of the year it will be the perfect record and planning tool for the next year. Thank you again!!
@@myxochi Hey Wendy hey! I have never tried a pocket planner but I want to. I'm going to put that on my list of "wants" for sure. 🙂 And thanks for noodling around my site. It's about to change!
Hi Tonya, I agree with your thoughts. I need 15 / 30 minutes a day of quite time with my planner to get organized and bring structure and discipline to my day. Without that the day becomes random, chaotic and undisciplined. Control what I can and accept most days will have a little craziness that I can’t control. Planning on Sundays brings a huge amount of calmness.
Loved it all!! You’ve inspired me to use washi again on my pages (will start that with my next prep session). Also to make use of the weekly compass. Lovin that binder. Is it real leather?
Is it my eyes or the video? The video loses focus and the text becomes blurry, even when the weekly compass card is brought closer. It is is odd because the video starts off clear.
