I was in elementary school, around 9 yrs. old. My classmate's dad was playing it on his record player. The singer's voice touched my heart and soul that day - forever. God bless Chuck Jackson. Thank you for your music; esp., this song! Seding LOVE to your spirit.❤

What a night, one of the best of my life. Even at 72 he could still show alot of these so called pop stars of today how it should be done. The voice was as good, if not better than ever, he has to be the greatest singer ever. Thank you Chuck.

It's a pleasure to know that Chuck Jackson left Pittsburgh and went to the Apollo Theater in New York.
My brother Joe Parker told me he wanted to celebrate the life of Chuck Jackson in 1996. It was 2015 when I realized how valuable this man was to the music industry and Pittsburgh and the world. I give thanks to Ivan Levine for his song that meat make me know how great Chuck Jackson's voice is powerful magnificent an amazing. I hope that Chuck Jackson comes home to Pittsburgh to August Wilson Center and tell us more about this great man in New York. Love you brother Chuck Jackson.
The city of Pittsburgh council members gave Chuck Jackson a proclamation for all his work in music industry and helping Musical members who need it help along the way. Amen

Nora - I posted the following - before I read your comment from a year ago. MR. CHUCK JACKSON was one of the GREATS. Didn't know he was close friends with MR. JACKIE WILSON - another GREAT. Both had Power in their Voices and perfect diction where I could understand every word - which was meant to be heard and understand. 7/14/2020 - "Heard "Any Day Now" today on the radio. Huge hit from the late 50s and early 60s. Mr. CHUCK JACKSON. Every single word he sang OR whispered was clearly heard in the last row of the 3rd balcony. Not like today's singers who mumble, grunt, moan, curse and shame. Chuck had about 5 monster hits and they all were covered by other singers: David Bowie, Ronnie Millsap, Michael McDonald, etc. Still alive and singing at age 82.

How wonderful is this? The song, his voice, his shaking hands with everyone - and then, when he shed the jacket, who was the lucky one who got it?

No one!! Lol. He tricked the audience .He dropped it behind his back. Some of the band mates were laughing because of that .

From 1986 ON, I had been going to New Orleans for JazzFest. As a lonely little white girl growing up in the woods of Ohio - the savior for everyone was there. It was WLAC with John R, Hoss Allen and Big Hugh Baby. And I learned everything I ever needed to know from them. My life would have been very different without them.
But back to New Orleans. I had been going quite a few years, and it finally happened that all the (obscure) great people I'd heard on WLAC had been discovered. And some of them were already dying off. And I was paying a lot of money to see a lot of the same people over and over. SO A NEW PLAN HAD TO BE DEVISED.
I had a short list of people I really wanted to see and hear. Roscoe Shelton, Maurice Williams, Chuck Jackson, Bruce Channel and Jim Weatherly. And I knew I wasn't going to see them in New Orleans. So I started looking around. Roscoe Shelton I saw at Summer Lights in Nashville This Magic Moment was coming up in Charleston, SC, .and Maurice Williams and Chuck Jackson were both on the schedule. It was such a different experience, and it was wonderful. But the weather was nasty. Friday night I got to see Maurice before the storm came in.
Saturday they had a good contingent of New Orleans people, Frankie, Frogman, and others. But it rained all day and they didn't get to perform. Chuck Jackson was supposed to sing on Saturday, but he was one of the rained out guys. You can imagine how bummed out I was about that. But these things are all at the mercy of the weather.
Sunday morning I went down to the lobby of the motel, to get some coffee. Way over in the corner was Harvey Robbins, who started yelling at me "Flo, Flo, Chuck Jackson stayed!! He's going on at10 AM." What a scenario. I got out of there as fast as I could, tried to wake Judy up because I knew she loved Chuck Jackson, but she wouldn't budge and I had to do it on my own. And now they introduce him - and you hear that sound - the real intro to Any Day Now, and he steps out onto the stage looking like he just stepped out of Macy's window, how awesome it was.

He was always one of the best. Now, of course, he's even better! I had the privilege of backing The Harptones on this song as their drummer but, man, I would give my right arm to have backed Chuck himself on it (of course I wouldn't play as well with one arm but, heck). Mr. Jackson is awesome!

ONE OF THE TOPNOTCH BLACK MALE VOICES OF THE INSURPASSABLE 60s. Freddie Scott on Shout was another. Earl Gaines on Hanna Barbera and De Luxe a third one. They are not much talked about, probably cuz Chuck was the favorite artist of one George Bush Sr. ... .. . MR Everything, best lp, 8 others on Scepter/Wand,,,later to Motown.
