    Yes the 323, I mentioned it in my GETS video but not since. This video is an update on where Ive got to. I am using 3d printing along with a cricut machine. The final product in this video is not perfect but hopes to give the impression of the model to come, but needs much work yet.

    Wow John your video really does show what can be accomplished with a 3D printer great work.

      Absolutely, with rising prices and a limited N gauge range, think many people will be experimenting and pushing the boundries of what 3d printing can do.

    Hiya John . Wow what a project !!!!! looking good so far . and one i will be watching with great interest . Your EP1 does not too far off the prototype and actually captures the look very well . when i have been on the 323's at certain stations they do sit a little bit back from the platform edges including Manchester piccadilly .

      Ok thank you, good to know. I am however working on another carriage 1mm wider and taller. The mill is the main project so I may rest it for a while have another go another time.

    Hi John but ive not got a 3d printer 😂😂😂😂 ...to the naughty corner I'm on my way. Its amazing what you can do though will the technology that's available. Once you've got the proper transfers on it'll look brilliant as always. Cheers Andy

      Absolutely Andy, I’m looking at getting another printer to have two on the go. The quality has improved amazingly and price has stayed the same as my first. If you change your mind I’m happy to help.

    Top tip for the redundant 170 bodies:
    You can potentially relivery them into the old FTPE, EMR or new Northern livery so they can still be used on the layout.

    • @piccadillymodelrailways
      @piccadillymodelrailways  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. I was thinking of turning them into a drag train, maybe relivery them: northern or EMR, both run into Piccadilly

      Thanks Mike, its a case of needs-must as no manufacturer is making one in N. Dapol are doing OO for now. I also want 185s. These two are part of Piccadilly's back bone.

    Hi John. I think you're mental for taking this on, but I totally admire the steps you take to problem solve/improve the model. Watched for years. Hiw modelling technology has improved your ability to take on these tasks. Good on you.

    • @piccadillymodelrailways

      Thank you, I think lol. Bottom line is that I want 323s and 185s on the layout, they seem to be the back bone (with 150s) of local services. No- one makes them. So why not?

    Dear John, great vid, awesome project on your 323. Love the way you showed your different design steps and versions. With some slight modifications it will become an excellent N gauge model of the 323. Cheerio

      Thank you Vincent, it will be lovely if I can make the trains lacking at Piccadilly. I not only need 323s but 185s, 195s and the Nova 2s. Time will tell if it's possible

    Brilliant! May I ask if you need to add weight to the wheel chassis to aid in non derailments?

    • @piccadillymodelrailways
      @piccadillymodelrailways  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi I will but I’m not there yet. Having said that the farish bogies seemed very sure footed, MAY not need it in the two driving cars. The middle coach is where the motor will be. You saw the 170, no weight in this dummy unit.

    Wow John sitting in the station that looks great . It shows what can now be done with 3D printing and makes you not reliable on the RTR models. I would like Class 700 but no RTR , there are body shells only on Ebay but they are £200 for 4 coaches .
    Cheers Kev

    • @piccadillymodelrailways
      @piccadillymodelrailways  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Kev, I honestly think 3d printing, laser cutting or cutting machines etc etc are the way to go. With Hattons going, no more Warley etc, what's next? There is a huge amount of uncertainty brewing and manufacturers maybe are cautious about creating many new models (esp in N gauge). I dont think models like 700 series inc new Lizzy line trains, 185s, etc etc are on the cards any time soon. Even if one is announced itll be a couple of years at least.
      3d printers are around £250-270 ish mark, filament is around £25 ish for 303m around 6p ish per metre.
      The ebay body shells are real rip off they would probably cost around £2-3 to produce, no competition charge what they like, no quality control either.
      Kev you got me started, lol
